Does that mantra apply for all things or just what you find stupid.

The reason we as a society care about rape and murder is because both are a threat to the structure of a functional society.

In the same breath the reason one should care about vaccination is because one cares about public health, the vaccine is meant to protect society from the virus not just the individual just like when one jails a rapist one isn't just doing so to protect an individual but society as a whole.
