I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I saw this and it reminded me that Hurts has real potential.

I've yet to see anyone obsessively hating him.

I am predicting some hate for him as a franchise QB but it will be deserved.

Agreed. He's not horrible BUT I think I would rather give snaps to younger guys. We need to find a long term #2.

I have no issues with Dick Rod but I agree with you.  I think they missed the boat in not adding a tight end in the draft.  I'm going to be following Kenny Yeboah, who signed with the Jets.  I thought he was a 4th rounder.  Word is he's been shining at Jets camp.

I honestly have no interest in franchising Goedert or paying him the market rate for a top tight end but they have to now.

Wait, wut?

Dick Rod was the best TE in the 2nd half of the season.

Battle for #3 TE will be fun to watch. (Assuming Ertz is gone)

I give Stoll the inside track, but Jackson is the wilcard. If they emerge, Rodgers won't make it out of camp, good receiver, awful blocker.

Guess you don't read the blog much.

This is a yes or no question.  Did Hurts complete 46% of his passes in the second half ??

People saying they don't think Hurts has proven anything as a QB and looks like a below average passer isn't hate.  It's just factual.  No one is hoping he plays poorly.

I'm guessing he did?

Why do you hold this as the most important statistic of all time that you are on repeat about it as if this statistic from his only 4 career starts as a rookie is the determining factor for his entire career and development?

I haven't seen you go on and on about something since you were going off about how Wentz didn't want to be traded and wouldn't be traded earlier this offseason.

It is the data we have.  It is also a fact that he lead the Eagles to points on 2 of 22 second half possessions.  These two stats show that defensive coordinators adjusted quite easily to him.

This is not hating on him, these are facts that unfolded in NFL games that he played in.  You need to get off the everyone is hating nonsense.  We are discussing what actually happened in the games he played.

There is a difference between expressing doubts and going out of your way everytime he is brought up to argue why he is going to fail and has no chance at developing into a good QB as if it is a fact.   There are a lot of people in this thread that would have a negative reaction to anything positive posted about Hurts and will speak of him as if his career has been written, he has no potential and there is nothing but absolute certainty that he will be awful.

Interesting question, I would have to go with Westbrook goes down at the 1.  It was the right thing to do.

It isn't the only data we have though, but it's the most negative data we have so that is what you constantly cling to and act as if it is not only the most important data but the only relevant data.

It's apparently inconceivable to you that a second year QB could possibly improve on that with further expierence gained, further development through coaching and just improved coaching and adjustments made in the second half on the coaching end.  It's going to be really interesting to see this upcoming season what negative stat you will jump to clinging to next when inevitably this second half stat you have determined is the holy grail for QBs does not replicate in year two for Hurts.

Philly Philly

Great play and a big play in the Super Bowl but it wasn't the biggest play.  There were several others I'd out above it.

4th & 26 was huge and I can't over rate that.  Without it that game ends and the Eagles don't make their 3rd straight NFC Championship Game.

He beat a gadget QB, and was winless otherwise.  For all his empty stats, Eagles got embarrassed by the Cowboys when he started, 17 points against a historically bad Cowboys defense.  He got pulled from the Skins game as it was clear he was not going to move the ball and score.

I hope he does well, but I did not like the pick when it was made, did not think he was a second round prospect, and the team had other needs.  I see him as a poor mans Lamar Jackson, and that is not going to win you playoff games.

Color me not shocked.  Still hates the guy that won the Eagles only Lombardi.

Wait, wut?

It's one of those stats that's easier when you play limited snaps, especially as a TE whose not asked to block

Jalen Hurts was a second round rookie QB who didn't have the benefit of preseason who was playing on a bad team.  He got one win in 4 games but it was one win over one of the best teams and defenses in the NFC.  Went toe to toe in a shootout in Arizona in a stadium this franchise has never won in.  The Cowboys game he didn't play well but again he was a rookie in his 3ed start.   He was pulled from the Redskins game because Doug was in full tank mode and didn't want to risk winning it since the Eagles offense was making plays while the Redskins offense had completely died at that point.  Also your boy Nick Foles also only had one win as a rookie, in more starts and it was against an absolutely putrid passing defense.

I didn't like the lick either when it was made but he showed flashes as a rookie in a bad situation and looked better than our $100M QB.  I'm excited to see what he can do as a starter in year two.  It can go either way but the kid obviously has talent and he has a great work ethic and leadership qualities to go along with it so there is reason to be optimistic.  You can say you hope he does well all you want but you clearly have an agenda over him because every lost you ever make about Hurts is so overly negative.

I hate Foles because I called Philly Philly a great play but don't view it as the most important play from the Super Bowl?  Okay.
