In four seasons, Tannehill has had a QBR lower that what Wentz had this year.

Wait, Tannehill is excused for 4 poor seasons due to lack of talent surrounding him, but Wentz is behind a swiss cheese OL due to injuries without one top playmaker but it's his fault?

Pricey! But yeah, I would want a King's Ransom if I'm the Texans. Just was thinking Watson's vocal unhappiness might drive the price down a little.

Crazy, I know... but there was a definite disconnect.  I can't buy that Howie was just getting the guys the coaches wanted, and then the coaches refused to use them.

QBR is a convoluted metric and it depends on which one you're using. Every site has a different one. PFR has Tannehill's career lowest at 76.1 (his rookie year). Wentz had 72.8 this season.

So they have to make a decision going in to camp? I'm sorry but unless they trade Wentz I just don't see that as an option. They don't know yet if Hurts is good enough to be "the guy". They don't know if Wentz can turn things around. Neither of those things they can get a clearer picture of between now and next year. TC would at least give them some idea.

Not sure where you're getting that from my post. I said that Tannehill has never had a season as bad as Wentz did this season except for his rookie season.

Yes they should make a decision before camp that is when most teams will be looking for QB upgrades and pay the most for a QB.  Lets say you want to go forward with Hurts and the QB market for Wentz right now is New England and the Colts.  By the time camp is over those teams will already have made moves to get their starting QB in place because they want their projected QB to be there during camp.  So the market for Wentz gets smaller and smaller the longer he is on the roster and it may get to the point where there would be logical path to move him and his contract.

Let's test how dysfunctional they really are is all I'm saying. It was mostly in jest. But I'd make the call to Houston. Maybe Caserio is one of those anonymous league sources who still holds Wentz in high regard.

If they didn't believe Wentz was a starting QB, they don't wait until the end of the 2nd rd to take a QB. That's not where you look for top starters, it's where you hope to get lucky.

Watch Howie pull off this rebuild in two seasons, he'll clear out the cap by 2022, and he'll find ways to find extra draft picks, and he'll draft for upside, not what his coaches ask for to win now. I also think after the "dream team" and grasping at a repeat, both Lurie and Howie will ignore coaches who clamour to give money to fix holes to older FAs - from now on, Eagle FAs signings will probably be either prime beef (Brooks, Jerrigan, Hargrave) with the contract effectively ending by age 30 or younger, or 1 year patches. And I'll bet they'll be more conservative with extensions to their veterans.

Not sure why this would be the only option. They could also trade or cut Hurts.

No, that is incorrect. Wentz had a QBR of 49.7 in 2020. Tannehill has had QBRs of 48.4, 45.6, 48.6, and 33.2.
