The issue Rugby players would have in the NFL is ball tracking from forward passes - it's not a big part of the game unless you are a FB/Winger. Where Rugby players can more easily transition is at positions like DE, DT, LB (to an extent) and then OL and STs.  Similar body types and skills sets.

The NFL should learn a lot about high and dangerous tackles from Rugby.  The NFL and officiating crews are far too soft on players in terms of in game and post game discipline, whereas Rugby is almost overly strict on dangerous play.   You can accidentally make contact with someone's eyes and be banned for weeks.  In the NFL it's a flag and fine.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

the problem is people want to run their mouths and they never back it up.

I truly believe Mullens was signed to compete because they have ZERO faith in Hurts.

if they just wanted a 3rd QB to hold a clip board and learn they would of kept  Jamie Newman

Apparently Newman can't even hold a clip board.

I don't think someone saying the eagles didn't sign Mullens cuz they dont trust hurts qualifies as running ones mouth.

Seems like a pretty palatable opinion to me

I've said this a lot about Ertz and I'll say it again...his game has always been controlled finesse.  His body language, his brand of athleticism, and his playing style have never been explosive.

From our perspective, I think it's really hard to say he quit on the team.  Maybe he did, maybe he didn't, but I can't really pretend to know.  The whole team went down in flames and the QB couldn't deliver the football, which happens to be the one thing Ertz is good at.

I'm not absolving him from blame, nor do I even want him back.  Heck...I was arguing to trade him last year.  But I'm not going to call him a quitter and I will look back very fondly on his time here.

Will forever be remembered as a warrior on that Super Bowl team. Clutch in the greatest of moments. Hope he does well in his next chapter.

Definitely was a surprising move for a QB3

How is it surprising???

It's not like Mullens is Some All pro, he's what was on top of the bottom of the FA QB barrell

I think we under estimate how good Ertz is as pass catcher at TE. We've almost become spoilt with what he can do, compared to what other teams have.

That's true.

Just thought they'd take a chance on a younger prospect is all.

I think the Eagles don't trust Hurts, but I also don't think signing Mullens indicative of that.

If Mahomes were our starting QB, they would conceivably have signed Mullens as the #3.  Flacco is ancient and terrible; Mullens has the upside to be a long-term #2.

I don't think Mullens even makes the team. He got benched playing the 2020 Eagles. He's bad.

He was about the youngest of what was left on the streets, he's only 26 been in the league for 3 years.

I guess they could have tried another  UDFA though not sure whose still out there worth anything?

Yup, don't think many see Mullins as any more than a reclamation project that could possibly be a long term backup.

When I saw the list if available FA QBs after Newman was cut I thought Mullens would be the best fit as he's still young and won't cost anything

Where as the other guys were older retreads like RG3 that everyone already knows theyve hit their ceiling, Mullens could still have some growing room and if not he can hold a clip board for a year or get some snaps in a crappy season where hurts and flacco are hurt or really bad.

RG3 is *good* as a primary backup at #2 on short notice.  He has starting experience and can come in and run around to put a defense on their heels, maybe steal you a game.  While that's not ideal, in a pinch late in the offseason, you could do worse with your backup QB.  No upside or pet project potential.

That's also not what you want out of your #3.  Coaches want a project from that spot.  While no one thinks Mullens can be molded into a starter, he could be a long-term backup.  And that's worth a 2nd round pick, right?

It's mid-June, so of course QB #3 is of interest. If he plays a single snap in 2021, our season is a disaster.

you can have a legit argument that hes the best QB on the roster

Please make that argument.

He definitely quit last season. You could tell when he put no effort in

I blame Howie

I think it's more Jeff now. He's the one who completely trusts this guy and turns blind eyes all over the place. What does that say about him if he wants Howie to be his GM year after year...

Mullens is still young and already had some game experience and production.  Not exactly a starter but could take care a few games if needed.  What a #2/3 QB is suppose to be.

They usually have 4 QBs in camp.  Quite possible they bring in another young QB.  Even if he does not push one of the QBs off roster, they can keep him in PS for more development.  Just don't know who could fit that role.

Terrible. Know what's even scarier?

He played better than the guy we're currently slated to let lead this team week 1.

I'd agree it's both. If reports are true that Lurie has been more hands on then he's a problem

Majority of fans see that Howie needs to go

Exactly. BUT BUT BUT FRANCHIZZZEEEE QB!

I sincerely don't think he's going to compete to be the starter and I think you're way off base there, but yeah, Hurts is a major concern when NICK MULLENS outplayed him.

To be fair Mullens also outplayed Wentz last season.

She was the absolute worst.  She never did her homework.  You could tell she didn't watch any sports.  At one point, she had taken a picture of something in her house and the tv was like 24 inches.  That's what she "watched" sports on.  She never got better.  They had to come up with "Nat's news" to make her somewhat relevant.  A mannequin would have had more use.

If Mullens outperforms Hurts, sad face emojis for everyone. My treat

Something something throwaways something hard worker something something 400lb squats.

this i agree with. 97.5 has done a really bad job of finding new talent.

I like Andrew Salchunnis(speeling) and thats about it.

Well i dont mind Kinkad but Bob and "da bro" are brutal. Egan's smart alleck schtick is tiresome.  Mikey Miss and Tyrone are brutal.

The only show I listen to if I am driving is Jon and Joe on 94.1.  All the other shows stink.  I watch Mike on tv when I work from home in the background but have been following them closely lately since Ty knows his basketball and the Sixers are in in the playoffs.

So let me get this straight. they draft him for a backup. They wanted to keep wentz, they tried to trade up for Zach Wilson, but now all of a sudeen he's the man and we should trust the eagles lol

Ok

I'm not saying we should all the sudden trust the cluster F that is Howie but I don't think signing Mullens is in any way a sign they don't trust Hurts.

I can confidently say that hurts isnt going to be threatened by the signing of Mullens the same way Wentz needed his binky after the hurts pick.
