If you're 7 feet tall and can't dunk the ball then you shouldn't be in there at all.  That's a liability.  How did he get 21 rebounds?

Did you watch the game?

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Means nothing, but it’s giving me life.

Let’s keep this same energy in the regular season.

Brian Flores has shown he's quick to make a QB change if Tua struggles.  Seems like Tua is on a short leash.

Top 10 pick from Miami is a great timeline.

Tua is not good.

One Eagle, Anthony Harris as the 4th safety and only because he has 4 voidable years.

Way to go Howie.

And yes, I understand this is subjective. But it's also alarming comparing to around the league and the lack of young talent on rookie deals as well as talent relative to cap numbers.

I only watch the last 3 minutes of NBA games.  That way you only have to sit through 45 minutes, 10-12 timeouts, and everything else is basically just a prelude to when the game gets decided anyway.

I don't think Hurts will be all that good of a pro QB, but he will better than Tua, that I'm sure of.

Apparently Walker is a pretty good special teamer and can return kicks, might give him the edge over a guy like hightower who played zero special teams snaps last year

Moorehead seems to like JJAW for whatever reason and of course Lurie likes him so who knows...

Hightower should have been the KR last season; he's actually got some upside there.  Doug didn't want Hightower on KR or Reagor on PR -- presumably because they were rookies?

Not sure what Doug was thinking on special teams

Ward was awful at PR and the one time reagor gets a crap at PR he takes it to the house

Quez also returned punts in college yet never got a shot over ward.

At KR hightower and Huntley both returned Kicks in college yet pederson never gave hightower a shot at KR and finally gave Huntley a couple at the end of the season

Im glad Fipp is gone every one of his units regressed lady year and the only player that played better than the year before was the Aussie Punter whom they let walk in FA???

I'm by no means a Chip Kelly fan but he put an emphasis on special teams and since his departure, seems eagles dont prioritize teams as much anymore.👎

Then you've long been wrong.  Johnson hasn't even sniffed the NFL before this season; Sirianni has been a professional coach since 2009.

Johnson played professionally until 2009.

WTF are you even talking about?  You don't think Embiid can dunk?

I was responding to a comment by another poster saying his bad knee wouldn't allow him to get to the rim and dunk.  IF that's the case, he shouldn't have been playing.

1 minute ago, 4for4EaglesNest said:

On the play in question, he left his feet too early.  Which is why he didn't dunk it.  It looks like he miss-judged the incoming defender and braced for contact that wasn't there.  It's not like it was a clear path.  That play happened in the final 20 seconds.  So you should have caught it.

I'll go back to my original question -- why is a guy 7 feet tall shooting 4-for-20 from the field?  If he's getting near the rim it's almost impossible to shoot that poorly.  If he's settling for outside shots that's a big problem.  Embiid isn't Dirk Nowitzki -- get to the basket, overpower people, play aggressively.

ST was good under Chip. It pretty much crashed and burned under Doug

Kerryon is a good pass blocker and he has good hands, and he can make guys miss where he struggles us he has zero explosiveness or speed, the injuries sucked it all right out of him

Fran mentions that he's still young but doesn't mention his extensive Injury history in those few seasons.

Also mentions he was a 2nd round pick, a few years back, why should that matter???

I feel like too many football guys over value players because of where they were drafted.

I like Kerryon Johnson but he's damaged goods.

I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't make the final roster, he's got no juice left.

Can he pass block? Sure, can he catch a 5 yard pass? Yup, other than that though he doesn't offer much as a runner or a special teamer

I wish the best for the dude but I'm not expecting much.

HE'S F-ING HURT!!!!!!  JFC.  Listen, I will never be called the Embiid apologist in here.  I have been harder on him than pretty much any regular in here or the Sixers thread, up until this season.  No one has been screaming for him to get on the blocks and over power people as much as I have the last few years.  Obviously you don't watch.  Because that's what he's been able to do this year.  But last night, I knew from out of the gate, he wasn't right.  When he's hanging around the perimeter, you know he's not feeling great.  When they sent him into the locker room in the 2nd and then he came out with Brand.  He came out looking real good.  So whatever it is they gave him then, wore off and they didn't give him anymore the rest of the game.

The real problem is he was taking too many shots because no one else will take over.  The Hawks went large and it neutralized Harris and Curry.  Thybulle is not an offensive player.  The other starter is Ben.  He's the other max guy.  The other "All Star".  When your All Star PG is afraid to have the ball in his hands in a close game, THAT'S  A PROBLEM!!!   Embiid isn't going to have it every night.  It was obvious he didn't have it last night.  They needed Ben to step up and take the ball out of Embiid's hands.  What happened?  He clunked free throws and then was pulled off the court because he's wasting space in the offensive half court, late in games.  If you want to talk about playing aggressively.  Then why would a guy who is 6' 11" and that can jump and run like a gazelle, drive the lane only to hit the brakes and get rid of the ball like it's a hot potato.  Because he's afraid he'll get fouled and he'll have to shoot a free throw.

You're banged up 7 foot center is going to have off nights.  The other "all star" should be able to take over.  Harris normally does, but he had a bad night as well.  And he should have been the other all star.

I think his point is if he can't dunk being a 7 ftr because he's that injured then he shouldn't have been in there.

Yup.

Lots of questionable choices under Doug.

I was irate last year when Fipp put Desean in to return a punt and after all the time they spent to try and keep Desean healthy and limit his snaps and rehab him, he gets hurt again👎

Afterwards fipp is asked why he put Desean out there on PR and Fipp said because Desean asked...

Should have fired Fipp after the game.

Hopefully the new guy isn't as oblivious as the last and hopefully the staff and organization puts more of an emphasis on special teams cuz last year other than Cameron Johnston it was pathetic all around.

And again, as I responded he left his feet too early on that play.   If a 7 footer can grab 21 rebounds.  He can dunk.  The missed layup was a missed timed approach by him.  Anyone suggesting he can't dunk is clueless and shouldn't comment on basketball or anything but maybe BBQ.  Maybe.  The first thing I thought of when I saw how he was playing early in the game, was he was conserving himself and it was a game that Harris or Ben would have needed to take over.  That didn't happen.

But there is NO WAY he went to lay that up instead of dunking, because of his knee.

BTW who said that?  So I can point and laugh at them.

Don't remember.

Who lasts longer -- Dalton as starting QB or Nagy as head coach?

I made a point last season that I was concerned it didn't appear to me that Hurts even paid much attention to what Doug was telling him; he just nodded vaguely, went out, and did what he was going to do anyway.  If I was Justin Fields, I probably wouldn't pay a whole lot of attention to Nagy's words of wisdom either.

I mean c'mon Embiid dunk that crap!

4 hours ago, Freshmilk said:

Embiid's knee was obviously preventing him from doing that.  All his jumpers were short, could get his legs into his shots at all.  They are risking a much more serious knee injury playing him at all, let alone so many minutes.  He looked like toast last night.  Instead of keeping up his workouts and cardio between games he is having to do knee rehab all the time.  It is showed in spades last night.  Too bad his teammates couldn't pick him up last night.

3 minutes ago, 4for4EaglesNest said:

Here it is.  I would say you're mostly right.  Even if his knee was killing him, he would have still been able to get up and dunk a game winner on the road.  Especially if he was able to grab 21 boards.  We're not talking about Spud Webb here.  He's 7ft+.  I think he was playing hero ball (Doc's words) and was out of sorts.

Other posters taking this that you mean that he physically can't dunk, is ridiculous.

Are you feeling okay? He quoted me, what else is any poster supposed to think he meant? It's certainly what I thought he meant.
