I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Mod 6 said no hockey talk. Thanks.

I almost read that as honkey.  You were lucky this time!

Also expect to feel like turds tomorrow

I got the Pfizer juice. I felt a little bit disoriented/dizzy after the first one(some might say that's my normal state). The second one had no discernable effect. I wonder if age enters into it with younger people more affected by the vaccine side effects than older people. I'm 65.

Who are the ninnies that complained to the moderators?

Man up and confess.

I had my 2nd one at 8:30 am this morning, and I have honestly felt kind of goofy and dizzy all day.  Now I'm drinking red wine to even it out.

Maxey looking great.  Too bad they are going to have to package him in a trade to get Simmons off the team.

Bunch of grown men in here running around reporting  posts like children running to teacher.

Ben Simmons with a very strong first half

I think we actually have a big 5 because of Seth Curry and Maxey.

So a defensive foul not even near the shooter takes away a 3 from the offense. Basketball is stupid

Maxey with more minutes than Ben.

Another quiet night for Simmons. Good thing the rest of the big 15 helped out.

The fact they needed to keep benching/bringing him in for defense at the end of the game is embarrassing

I admit it — I reported myself.

Didn’t want to do it; felt I OWED it to myself

Attention:

Happy Friday guys.  Your friendly neighborhood mods have been busy with life and catching up on reported items and activity.  Sorry to post this on a Friday but I finally have some time. There has been yet another increase in political posts in here lately and a lot of people reporting each other.  Sometimes we don't see the reported posts until a day or 2 (or more) later and the discussion has got back on track.  The pinned guidelines in #2 state:

"Politics belong in CVON; however there are sports-related political topics such as COVID affecting teams, national anthem or sports teams discussing racial justice.  Use your judgment and don't get off topic."

We did not want to have to police this board like the old Eagles affiliated board.  We're a relatively smaller community and we want people here to enjoy.  We don't want to warn, suspend or ban anyone unless truly necessary.  You have to have thick skin and not report every little thing, but at the same time when posts get way off topic it disrupts the intent of the particular topic.  We've posted warnings in here numerous times, changed the title, given warning points and suspended people...but it continues.

So what do we do to fix this?

One option is to be extremely strict and give warnings points up to and including 2 week suspension (or ban if you have too many).  We can also set individuals who are constant repeat offenders to require mod approval before any post will show on the boards.  I know you don't want that, we don't want to do any of that!

The other option is for you all to follow the guidelines, to self-police by not replying to the political posts and tell people to stay on topic.  If you're one that brings up off- topic politics (Michael Jordan gif here): STOP IT.  If someone does post politically off-topic then yes report it and they'll get warning points.  But what makes it difficult is I see the reported posts and then see that 8-10 of you have replied to them for several pages and got in political arguments.  So do I have to warn/suspend 8 people?  I don't want to do that.  So don't contribute to the problem, don't feed the trolls, don't participate.

As the guideline says, there are definitely situations where politics get injected into sports.  But it's not the time to get into a left/right debate, bash a political party or start bringing up other political issues not related.  You all can decide to not post about it in here, or if a discussion is getting heated tell people to take it to CVON or start a new topic in TATE just about that issue and discuss it there.

Sorry for the long post but this has continued and many of you have complained and asked us to do something, and you should see the list of reported posts we get:  95% of them are from this blog.  You guys need to decide then how you will behave, take ownership.  You guys report each other like crazy but you also are posting replies to them instigating.

Remember we are volunteers just trying to make the forums a fun place.  I'm here if you want to chat about it (respectfully).  What do you think needs to happen, option 1 or option 2 (this is your red pill moment).

B-)

That's pretty hilarious and kind of sad that the blog is where most of the reports come from. Curious on who does it the most in here lol I mean you can see some wild convos in WU

Is there also penalties for people abusing the report feature?

I guess I'm in the minority that just keeps scrolling when I see something about basketball, baseball, or something else that doesn't interest me in here

You'd turn people away from the site if you gave warnings or suspensions IMO. Since you have the reports maybe you can message whoever it is and let them know personally to take that discussion to CVON. That might be more work for you but a message from a mod on a personal level may help better

Your replies should not continue the off-topic politics, but you can reply to tell them to quit it. Let me dumb it down for you:

Moar politics = NO

Stop posting politics = YES

Likely the same ninnies that carried on the political talk in the first place.

No.  The fact that they didn't do it sooner is what is embarrassing.  That's on Doc.

A blind man should have seen it coming... and I have proof.  saw the need for it coming.  He's a liability to the team offensively in the 4th quarter of a close game.  We saw it in Round 1.  Atlanta wised up to what to do in Round 2 and stole a game they had no business winning in Game 5.   And Doc finally smartened up, put Simmons' ego on the back burner, and did what was necessary for the team.

Sure, but both are still embarrassing. He’s your #1 overall pick PG and you have to take him out in critical situations. That’s bad on the player. The fact it took so long is bad on the coach. It’s just an overall failure on multiple levels.

Absolutely.  Ben should have been embarrassed by his poor foul shooting long ago.  But he's been coddled for too long... called a treasure, etc.  The reality is, his foul shooting should have been called out by his coach long ago, AND never allowed to get to the point it did in Game 4... and when Doc saw what they were doing, he needed to start pulling him in that game. Doc cost the Sixers game 4, not Simmons... because Doc knew the problem but did nothing to address it.

Hugs?

Socially distant hugs maybe.  Meanwhile, I don't think my ribs knew the difference between pellet smoke and stick burner smoke, and Id guess it wouldn't be easy to tell the difference in a blind taste test.   They were delicious and I regret nothing.  :P
