I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Thank you for your ITYS. Yes, you are right and I was wrong.

First step

now lets get-on about how to fix this team

To a layman, Ben Simmons looks lost out there.  Didn't know his ass from elbow.  That said, the Sixers shooting wasn't good enough and they gave away too many fouls - removing Simmons for me won't fix their issues.  They need to improve a lot from being very good to being great - they can't rely on Embiid to get them out of tough spots.

Turnovers killed them

It’s more than that, he won’t shoot from 5ft or more and just had the worst FT% in a playoff series ever.  The only way "the process” works is drafting the right players and they didn’t…. To a point, Embiid is really good.

Ben Simmons = Carson Wentz

maybe Tyrese Maxey = Jalen Hurtz?

I watch little to no basketball, but Simmons mentally done - a case of the Agholor's.  I question how he's been able to play this long and be like that, but that's something for the Sixers to answer.

I dont think he said he's F'ed here. I do bet that he called his agent as soon as the game was over to let the 6ers know it's either him or Ben .

Here's a quote from Embiid posted in an article about Ben on ESPN's site, so TIFWIW:

But Embiid, after saying "it just felt like this was going to be our year," would not commit to wanting to run it back next year with the same core in place.

"That is a tricky question," he said.

I don’t agree with that statement at all

It's just an excuse to take a shot a Wentz hoping for some attention. Ignore it and it will go away.

I can tell you that I haven't reported anyone in at least a year.  But I do complain about the politics in here.  I am not sure political stuff is worthy of getting reported and bother the MODS.  But it does get out of control in here.

I get annoyed by a lot of topics in here, political being one of them. But (and I know you agree with this) reporting to the mods just get us attention that we don't need. Grow a set people and just scroll on by.

Reading up on Smith and Hurts and I, for one, think this season is going to be electric. As long as Hurts spreads the ball around when Smith isn't open.

Put too much creating on a 7 foot center’s shoulders. That gets fixed with a confident point guard.

Could anyone have seen Simmons cratering to this extent?

Yes many did

and i think Maxey can be that guard now

Good thing they didn't accept the Harden for Simmons trade.

That isn't true.  The Sixers offered Ben.  Rockets owner wouldn't trade with the Sixers due to his issues with Morey. But Moreu did put Simmons on the table in trade talks for Harden.

What you can say though is the Sixers should have accepted the Ben for Kawhi trade a few years back.  Kawhi would have likely still left for LA the following season but we also would have had a chance to win the title that year instead of Toronto.

Makes you wonder if in that moment Embiid thought to himself "I am so F'd here".

Embiid loves it here.  The only thing that is occurring is his loss of desire to continue playing with Ben.

If the Oline stays healthy then he'll have all the time in the world to go through his progressions and be given a great chance to succeed

No one will be able to say he wasn't given a chance or even given weapons IMO

Not even close.  Wentz was dealing with a team falling apart around him, multiple injuries and sub standard game planning and coaching.

Ben Simmons is allergic to the #1 thing you do in basketball, shooting.

It’s not a perfect comparison, but the Simmons situation reminds me of when a young Tony Parker would get benched in crunch time for Speedy Claxton, who closed out the Nets in the NBA Finals. It was so bad, the Spurs nearly traded Parker to clear room to sign Jason Kidd.

Simmons is older and has collapsed like a dying star, so it’s probably time to move, but maybe he needed to hit rock bottom.

Simmons should have gotten to this point a couple years ago where reality punched him in the face.  Now it's too late for him in Philly.  Its like Nelson Agholor, the narrative and expectations are bigger than his actual performance now.  Its over, gotta move on.

Sixers also need to get rid of Doc and get a real coach, not a pseudo-celebrity coach.  Doc is one of the most overrated coaches of all time, he got badly badly outcoached all series (as per usual)

Philly is cursed

Correct.  They have multiple issues, but having their second most expensive player being a massive liability at the most important part of games at the most important part of the season is a starting place.   You cannot afford to have a guy making that much money who cannot be trusted to be on the court down the stretch of games in the playoffs.   That's when your superstars are supposed to step up, not sit on the pine.   Frankly, I'd rather see Maxey in those spots, because he can create his own shot, can shoot foul shots, and can handle the pressure of the moment.  Meanwhile, Ben looked scared of the moment... not taking the dunk was completely inexcusable, giving the ball away at mid court so frequently on the fast break indicated a fear of being fouled and being sent to the foul line... and the Hawks took fouls on him constantly to send him to the line to get quick and easy stops whenever they needed them and could steal possessions from the Sixers when they were leading.
