He's not going to be back for another post season that's for sure.

But you can absolutely bring him back for the start of the season and let him rehabilitate his value from the lowest point it has ever been following that disastrous series.  Ben Simmons can get his triple doubles during the season and continue his All NBA 1st Team Defense play and play at the All Star level during the regular season and that will raise his value around the league knowing he isn't stuck at the rock bottom that he showed in the eastern semi-finals.

There is no negative in doing that to help the Sixers facilitate a better trade.  Trading him now at his absolute lowest value for garbage in return servers the Sixers no benefit whatsoever.  Unless Morey is able to pull off a good trade this offseason to bring in a player(s) that will help this team contend immediately then they need to hold off and hope that Simmons can reclaim some of his value during the first few months of the season and then try to flip him for something of quality before the deadline.

Nope. Nope nope nope nope nope. Nope.

He never made a team or played regular season snaps. He was cut by St Louis at final cut down then spent 6 weeks on Dallas PS and then was out of the league

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

IMO rams are second best team in the NFC , I think Stafford is a huge addition for the rams  .

Opinions differ on Philadelphia’s decision not to pursue Lowry harder, but there is a consensus around the league that Morey resisted because he’s angling for an even greater star. He’s thinking about stars like Damian Lillard or Bradley Beal becoming available. CJ McCollum or Zach LaVine could also appeal to Philadelphia if they are put on the table.

I watch little to no basketball, but Simmons mentally done - a case of the Agholor's.  I question how he's been able to play this long and be like that, but that's something for the Sixers to answer.

Worse than that, he’s been doing it for years, and he still has to get paid like $140 million bucks.   They have all enabled it, including Brett Brown.  He’s scared to shoot and might as well play the 5, but then again he can’t hit foul shots.  Good luck to whoever gets him if he leaves the Sixers

NFC is bad, and will be even worse if Rodgers gets traded. This would be the perfect time to be a contender, but instead we are in a retool.

They are loaded on offense.  It wouldn't surprise me to see DJack stay healthy and be huge for them. If they can protect Stafford, that offense is putting up points.

Just curious if anyone has any thoughts.  What's the benefit of releasing Grimes from IR rather than keeping him on IR for the full season?  Could it be he thinks he can play this year and wants to catch on somewhere else?

Interesting case of a guy who grabbed not only fans but the medias attention the day he signed as an UDFA to now being off the team completely.

In order of most likely scenarios, cap purposes. If he’s on IR he’s counting against the cap. They obviously are tight against it so it benefits them to just cut bait. Second, maybe his injury isn’t that bad and they have plans to resign him. Only way they can do that is waive him off IR and then wait for whenever the injury settlement + a certain time period expires so they can add him back to the roster. Third, if he thinks his injury isn’t that bad and wants to try to make another team vs staying on IR all year he could file a grievance.

With Donald & Ramsey on defense

I'm skeptical of Stafford, while he has improved the last few years, he's 33 and has a track record of being more a stat padder than a winning QB.

He has had good talent around him, neither elite but not awful, including multiple 1st rd picks on his OL.

Yet Detroit has only scored 400+ twice in his career, 474 in 2011 (3rd season) with Megatron, Burleson at WR, Pettigrew at TE, and 410 in 2017, Tate, Marvin Jones and Golladay at WR, Ebron at TE. Lang all pro at RG.

Rams scored 478 and 527 with Goff at QB before declining to 394 and 372 the last two seasons. Maybe the problem wasn't Goff, but an offense with Henderson at RB, Kupp, Reynolds and Woods at WR, Higbee at TE, and an OL with 39 year old Whitworth as your best OL. The peak years, Gurley at RB and Cooks at WR.

They've promoted Van Jefferson at WR to replace Reynolds, added DeSean, but are still going with Whitworth at LT and haven't upgraded the OL.

Yup.  If DET had a decent coaching staff I’d say watch for Goff to have the better season of the two; sadly his career might die with the Lions, who have a career RB coach in Anthony Lynn as the OC and Aubrey Pleasant as their passing game coordinator — who is also the defensive backs coach, where most of his coaching experience has been.

I’d say it’s going to be a long season in DET — but it’s been a long 50-60 years

That part was one of the greatest trades in Flyers' history -- getting rid of a marshmallow like Jeff Carter and getting back two players, each by themselves much better than Carter.  As you said, Columbus traded Carter to LA -- that wasn't the Flyers' doing.

In the broader sense the problem with those two trades is that they were made (in large part) to free up cap room to sign Bryzgalov -- which was totally unnecessary, because they already had Bobrovsky on the team -- Laviolette was just never smart enough to use him or see his potential.

Typical of the Flyers to not know what they had in Bobrovsky and they traded him for not much. Bryzgalov has to be one of the worst FA signings the Flyers have made.  I mean I think they are still paying him.

The problem with the flyers has never been the trades. as mentioned we've "won" the majority of the trades. We did lose a huge one I'll touch on below.

The problem is free agency/mid season trades(trade dead lines)

First, we never ever get the last piece of the puzzle.  I remember 08, a team i really liked and they got Vaclav Prospal while Brad Stuart and Hossa and a couple other impact players were available.

Then, WE(well Snyder, or Bob, or someone) LOVED AGING  superstars. Looking for the last piece in the early 2000's and they get 71 year old Tony amonte. 64 year old Petr Nedved a couple years after. Rick Tocchet at the end of his career and they sold us these superstars as if they were still superstars and could get us over the hump.

Mean while Patty Roy was gotten cheap. Cujo went cheap.

and now the franchise changing trade IMO... Sergi Bobrovsky for NJ's own Anthony Stolarz, Tyler Leier, and the opportunity to bring back 91 year old Simon Gagne for a 2nd tour

Missing out on Roy and to a lesser extent CuJo were terrible.  I mean the Coffey trade in 1996 instead of getting him 7 years earlier is a perfect example.

I'd be hesitant to just call him a stat padder.  He has had a good amount of 4th quarter come backs.  That's the sign of a winner coming through in the clutch time and time again (including against the Eagles in 2019).  In the end though there is only so much winning you can do on such a mismanaged team organizationally like the Lions.

He has only had a 1k rusher once in his career which was Reggie Bush in 2013 with 1,006 yards.
