I don't think he'd stay for vet minimum but if they offered him fair market value I think he would strongly wish to stay here. For starters, he clearly has a relationship with Stoutland who he trusts and wants to work with. Past that, he already said when he first came over he was homesick and wanted to be back in Australia. Now that he's been here for almost 4 years, I'd think he has that somewhat second home comfort with the area. He doesn't strike me as your normal NFL player who only cares about his paycheck. Out of anyone on the team that would give the "hometown discount" I can't think of anymore more likely than him.

"fair market value". Fair market value means different things to different people.

To the Eagles, 'fair market value' for a backup OT will mean one thing.

To Mailata, 'fair market value' for a starting OT will mean something completely different.

Apples and oranges hard to compare them.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Oof.

I don't know much about basketball, but it feels like the Suns are the best team in the playoffs and should be the overwhelming favorites at this point.

Atlanta just did not look like a good team.  And if they can do this to the team with the one remaining true superstar in the playoffs, then it's hard to bet against the team with a 2-0 lead in the West.

Frankly, this has to be the worst "final four” in the NBA in recent memory. The playoffs have been a complete cluster F.

2 awesome series going on

Trae Young going off

I had seen people talk about his throwaways, but hadn’t seen the actual number.

That puts him at 57%

Well that changes everything

And his sacks taken was still 13. And throwaways doesn’t take into context if it was the o-line or if he was missing reads.

Not aimed at you, because I was also curious about the actual # but geez, all these excuses make me feel less confident in the guy.

So, if you take into account all of those throwaways, he was almost as accurate as Wentz last season

Whew …. I can get a good night’s sleep tonight

For me I'm loving it.  It's good to see new teams and players instead of the usual suspects and that goes for any sport.  I'm tired of seeing Lebron and Tom Brady nearly every year in the big games.

Maybe not excuses but it's just an extremely small sample size that he has and was under terrible conditions just like Carson was last year.

I'm not a believer in him but I'm going to wait and see before I judge him.  Hope he proves me wrong.

There is not enough to say Hurts was terrible and certainly not enough to say he is a franchise QB. He had a pretty bad o-line, no weapons, and a coach that was purposely losing at the end, let alone not putting everyone in the best position to win. He may have one more weapon now (Smith) but that’s only if he comes as advertised, which I suspect he will. We are still another WR short, reliant on the health of the line, and hoping our coaches set-up this offense to succeed.

We will have no idea how good or bad this kid is until this upcoming season. I’m not saying I have high hopes but he deserves the benefit of the doubt and there are no other realistic options to replace him in the near future.

Bigger than Peters, yes. More athletic, no.

We'll disagree.  What we hope happens is Mailata's athleticism translates in the same way Peter's did.  He shows a lot of promise.

Just a hunch but I think Mailata is going to be the type of guy who will be here if the Eagles want him to be. I don't see him chasing money or really using his leverage to go anywhere else.

I don't.  He is the incumbent starter at LT.  If he doesn't get left in the dust by Dillard and they are even steven during camp he should remain the starter.  If they are "tied" and they start Dillard his agents and Mailata will be talking FA immediately (FA is something we earn and I'd be stupid not to see what's out there....)If he starts they will be talking long term deal with the Eagles for a starter at a premium position (I love playing for the Eagles I hope to spend my whole career here can't wait to get a contract done...)

Phils: they should make Howard the closer now.  A smart team would do it.  He's 25 and can't get past the 3rd inning.   Neris is terrible.  A good closer and the Phils are within striking distance of the Mets.

Can you Spark Notes it for us? 😁

In all honesty, I would do a disservice to how he said it by doing it.  Requires a watch - but maybe only 10 mins or so within a longer podcast

Here is the time marker:

Slow down... There are more questions than just durability.  A lot of 'sure-thing' prospects don't work out as expected in the NFL.   Let's not anoint him just yet.  Maybe let him suit up in a PS game or even open TC before we get his bust ready for Canton.

Sure, but he was a top 15 prospect without the injuries. iOL normally have hit high rates early too. As long as he's healthy-ish, no reason he shouldn't perform.

We do have 4 years of college on him; it’s not like he was brought in from Venus last season.  Wentz notwithstanding, I don’t recall any poster on here prior to the draft saying "I wonder who is going to draft Hurts; that guy is going to be a player”

He had deficiencies coming out and he still has them.  Can he develop?  Sure — but he looked like what many expected him to be before he took the field — high-end backup or bottom-tier starter.

You’re correct that he will be the starter for this season and will have another 17-game audition.  If Flacco needs to start this season like Fitz for Tua last season, that will be a really bad sign.

I think it's clear a lot of that was how awful Goff was.  BB knew once that headset cutout to allow McVay to breakdown the defense for Goff and then the Patriots quickly switched up it exposed how Goff can't read a defense on his own.

Hard to read with this sitting on your face!!

Except that some top 15 iOL prospects don't always work out either.  It happens at every position.  iOL may be closer to a sure thing, but that doesn't mean its guaranteed.   Some players just don't work out, and no one has figured out how to tell the good ones from the lemons yet.

The data shows that the the higher up you're drafted, the more likely you are to be good. Guarantee? No.

What exactly about Dickerson's profile scares you except for injuries?
