Reich is about the only one who has worked out for him. And reich was a former OC prior to here and got fired there. I also find it ironic that came out now meanwhile it’s been reported for 3 seasons since reich left doug has had issues with his coaches. So reich a veteran OC didn’t but the ones with less experience asked to be coached up he’s had trouble with and groh who was lousy as a OC elsewhere was again lousy here. Add on fipp has nosedived since 2017 and we were willing to keep him on for ST when that unit has been regressing for three straight years.

However it doesn’t show since reich left that he’s had success with other coaches. Literally groh failed. Press Taylor failed. Every WR coach failed. Fipp’s unit as massive regressed. The only thing he really had control over was offense and ST. both of those units and coaches have regressed and not been close to good enough over the last 3 years. That’s the reality. They had injuries and poor picks but they also did a poor job developing guys and maximizing their strengths thats also been shown and reported. Now he might not have picked those guys according to reports but he wanted groh back and move press Taylor up so tend to believe he wanted those guys here.
January 13, 20214 yr It just keeps coming. I've never seen the Philly media turn on the Eagles like this since (before) the Andy Reid era. The Eagles PR team will be working overtime. They better get a coach in here and soon.

Yea but I believe it was mainly because they had to trim the TC roster to 80 instead of the usual 90 due to COVID. They never got to see him on the field. Not sure why they are sniffing a punter, I think Johnston was ok and he’s a RFA so shouldn’t cost much.

And he is. The reason why Arizona hired sumlin was because he wanted him and not the navy coach who he thought was going to run the triple option. Don’t ask me why president Robbins and Heeke listened to a 19 year old on a hire. Sumlin got to Arizona and he and his group decided he didn’t want to run anymore to avoid injury and became a big pain in the ass. So much so they got fed up with him at one point and played Rhett Rodriguez (rich rod’s son) who really ain’t a big 5 conference caliber QB.

It's called respect. Once you get (unjustly) fired...all that goes out the window. Pederson has been the scapegoat for so much nonsense over the years and it's all coming out now.

Eh if i were doug would’ve waited to let that news out until i got another job. Lurie said he would vouch for doug on any job interview. Frankly i get putting it out there cause of the smear campaign but if he was the bigger person until after he got another job then did it would be the smarter move. I can’t imagine lurie is going to be thrilled to read that and want to help him out as he’s likely to be ticked off at it. Now he might not think he needs lurie’s help.

I doubt it's coming from Pederson himself. It's probably coming from those around Pederson who had internal knowledge of what he went through. As far as Pederson himself goes, most teams would likely empathize with his situation vs fault him. I highly doubt he will have any issues finding work.

That Pederson insisted on his yes men as his OC and DC rather than suggesting some of the top guys around the league? Either he doesn't want anyone to take playcalling away or he doesn't know who the top OCs are. That the scouts were unhappy that the coaches override their recommendation (which came out almost a week before he was fired, so it couldn't have been a FO campaign, if they were still considering rehiring him, they wouldn't want to air dirty laundry). Pederson smeared himself with his mishandling of Wentz, his promotion of Taylor, his confused offense that did little to scheme WRs open (Alabama has a more sophisticated offense than the Eagles). I mean was anyone impressed with either the schemes or how the team executed on the field? Irregardless of talent and injuries, routes that can be run by a college team can be run by an undermanned pro team.

Whether it was doug or Doug’s people he had control of that piece of info by telling them and allowing them to come forward with it. Doug might not have issue this time finding work. However that might not always be the case. Don’t burn bridges cause you might need them one day. I personally wouldn’t have said anything taken the high road frankly i think if caplan and mosher and McManus who have talked to sources around the league have said he had his own set of issues with his offense and coaches. So it’s not just philly sources. I’m guessing the league know about the howie/lurie angle as well as why doug hadn’t done a very good job at some of his own things he had control of

Neither had the physical opportunity to participate in competitive sports growing up. Lurie admired Howie's rapid ascent through the football ranks given that similar background. Their common ground and almost certainly common wavelength in personnel opinions also introduced a very intimate relationship...one that allows Lurie to have his cake and eat it too. Howie almost certainly makes Lurie feel and be heard. Lurie gets to have very meaningful involvement with the day-to-day of the team without the public exposure and stigma of being a meddlesome owner like Jerry Jones or Schnider. A big name "football guy" at GM? That's a gamble if they'll let Lurie step into that inner circle of decision-making without the accountability and stigma that come with it for the owner. But Howie always will. Step down a rung to Doug Pederson. He was just happy to get the job in 2016. He's a mild mannered guy with a manageable ego who was happy to defer to a GM without that football background (and don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing that football background is necessary; but the lack of it makes it harder to command respect from others in this business). But with Doug, Howie didn't have to fight for that. Doug literally got fired today because he wouldn't let them continue to pull the strings anymore. This is all about control. Howie is here because of the control he slides under the table to Lurie. Doug was here because of the control he deferred to Howie. And the new HC who is hired will be someone who yields to this structure. Many of my posts don't age well; but this did pre-date the media running with this notion.

If you dont believe some of the stories put out about doug weren’t directly from the eagles to help their cause and look better then you are in full denial. Maybe smear was a harsh word but they definitely leaked some of them out there to make them look better. They didn’t have to say anything if they didn’t want too and left it as the mutually left. But keep spinning away Dave.
