That is the first question.  Are Sirianni and Steichen going to bring a creative offense, and be able to adjust to defenses, and their adjustments to put the QB in a position to succeed.

It's got to be better than the crappy system and playcalling by Doug last season, his chuck it long and duck offense.

Sirianni and Reich got 400+ points out of two broken down veteran QBs and a 361 point season with a #2 QB (Brissett). And that was with below average skill people (Pascal lead them with 607 yards receiving in 2019).  So they know how to design an offense around a QB's limitations (like Rivers' below average arm last season).

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

This is my fear

No, I'm not expecting that at all.

I'm expecting 5-12.

BUT* In general, we cant hold on to him if we're still unsure. I think anything less than 11 wins is Unsure(i.e. move on)

11 wins might be a little bit much to ask of him at this point in his career.

Herbert put up good numbers as a rookie and they didnt win games. I just want to see Hurts progress as a QB.  Obviously he has to show much better than what he did in those 4 games.

Again, I'm in the camp that doesnt think he will be a franchise QB but I'm going to give him a chance to prove me and alot of people wrong.

For the record.  Depending on the cost, I’d be down for a N’Keal Harry trade.  I was all in on him coming out of college.  I don’t know how you couldn’t be.

Because he moves like a tackle 🤣

Then Gannon was clearly the wrong choice

It still isn't clear to me if Lurie/Roseman have any say of what guys they wanted DP to sign/trade for and if so, does that trend continue.

Why opposing NFL coach says Eagles' Jalen Hurts will be 'very easy' to stop

"From what I saw, it will be very easy to stop that kid,” an offensive coach said of Hurts. "The Saints just weren’t ready for some of the stuff they did and he had some good runs. He had a couple wild throws, too. The next defense they play will have a plan for it and it’ll be much harder for him.”

Yea, but Teddy Bridgewater bro.

It’s not like Hurts is going to be protected by the same OL, throwing in the same offense and not having Smith and possibly a healthy Sanders.  Interesting this is a quote from an offensive coach.

I think I remember some in here liking him. I'd pass.

Also LOL at him requesting a trade.

Can he play CB?  Maybe a JJAW for Harry swap?

IMO and most others, it will come down to whether he can read a defense and go beyond his 1st option in the route progression. He hasn't demonstrated much of an ability to do this but I'm sure this is exactly the focus of the coaching he is receiving. QBs can get better, Josh Allen for example, but it's clearly not the norm to see that kind of improvement. They have the OL for a power run game and it would certainly help Hurts to have the opposing D on its heals and safety closer to the line. Should be an interesting season. I've got my tickets for the Raiders game and can't wait to get back to live football.

Coming out of college!!!  If you watched him in college I don’t know how you couldn’t be high on him.  Try to keep up.

He moved like a tackle in college too. He didn't magically get slower. Some people just can't tell how a guy runs in college because they're playing against inferior athletes.

That’s a legitimate concern.  But he doesn’t move like a tackle.  That’s ridiculous.

Idk if it’s his speed, route running, or both but he struggles a lot to get open. He had so much potential coming into the NFL. I remember thinking "oh great, of course he goes to the Pats” a few years back.

He's got a point, but with our current cap situation we have to be smart about this. We can't just spend money on everything or anyone just to reunite the gang and bring back someone familiar. So Howie has a tough job right now because he has to make sure to sign Jason Peters first. If there's leftover money, then we can bring him back to start at MLB

No to N'Keal Harry

Yes to Steve Nelson

Man, the Cubs blow.

We should start an over/under that JP is brought back at some point during the season.  I'm hopeful that the injury luck changes but as much as I love Mailata, we need to keep an eye on his back and Dillard has to stay healthy as well.

For as great as JP was, I don't know if there was another former Eagle I hope I never see suit up again.

I hate how they've neglected CB but I don't want Steve Nelson.  If he signs here it's either as a 1 year band-aid who might help them win 1 more game or they sign him to a multi-year deal and then we have 2 aging veterans at CB with significant contracts heading in to 2022 when Slay will be 31 and Nelson will be 29.  That investment would probably make them feel "comfortable" at CB and not go after one of the top CB available in the draft.

Again, I hate how they've treated CB but they might as well ride with what they have and load up on young talent in the 2022 draft.  They could potentially find a starting duo in Round 1.

1 year deal is fine with me.

I’m fairly confident he won’t be signing here. I forget exactly how much he was making but he was cut because he didn’t want to take a pay cut and wanted more than the 7ish million he was making per year. Even if he doesn’t get that he’ll get more somewhere else than here. Plus if he was a priority the Eagles would have moved on from Ertz or restructured Johnson or done something to make it happen by now. Based off his tweets it seems like Eagles are low balling him.

1-year wouldn't be terrible but again at this point....run out there with what you have.  Throw McPherson out at CB2 or the slot.  Show me what Craig James can do.  I'd much rather know if any of these guys can play before the draft then to still have them sitting at CB4/CB5 not knowing.

They traded for the kid from Jacksonville, what can he do?

The worse the defense plays, the worse Jalen will play.

No argument there.  I posted last week that the best thing to help Jalen Hurts is to have a defense that creates turnovers, gets points on their own and gives the offense the best possible field position.

I don't know enough about Gannon, but I don't see him as a miracle worker who is going to take roughly the same defense as last year and completely change it to a defense that does all of the above.

With that being said, Steve Nelson isn't THAT good of a player that his signing here transforms this defense from average to good or whatever they may rank.

Don't think any of them can do much of anything.

Nelson is a philosophical question.

Are we going all in this year?  Obviously not.

Are we tanking?  No.

Then exactly where do you set the rpm’s in between?

Do you scoop up anyone that makes the team better?  (Applies to Nelson).  Do you ignore every good player who will very likely be either off the roster or overpaid by the time the team is a true contender?  (Also applies to Nelson).

I agree with the sentiment that losing becomes a habit and a culture.  But I also resent short sighted investments that get the team nowhere…just to save face short term for a gm.
