That's how I'm hoping it all works out.  Maddox isn't an outside CB.  We all know where he's played his best football...

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I have one more "long term" stat for you Lowie defenders.   Since 2013, the Eagles have DRAFTED 3 Pro Bowl players.

Carson Wentz- Who has been traded because he wanted out.

Zach Ertz- Who we have been trying to trade because he desperately wants out.

Lane Johnson- Who is great, when he's healthy.  Which hasn't been as often in recent years.

So in a few weeks, there will be ONE player on the roster that the Eagles drafted since 2013 and has made the Pro Bowl.  One!!!

Yeah, Lowie is doing a bang up job.

2016 - 2019 drafts, we drafted 26 players, 10 are on the roster, and JJAWful and  Pryor may not be for long.  8 of 26 players on the roster when the season starts.  SAD.

Better than 19 teams.  Great!  So glad we have goals.

Yes.  It's Doug fault that we drafted JJAW or Hurts.  Or it's Doug's fault we drafted Nate Gerry and tried to make him an NFL LB.  Or it's Doug's fault we drafted Davion Taylor and another long long long list of bad picks.  Next you'll blame Doug for giving into Jason Peter's demands.  Or bringing back Desean Jackson.....AGAIN!  Or bringing back Darren Sproles.....again and again and again.

I’ve always found it weird that in order to defend Howie, he has to be reduced to being a glorified gopher/secretary.

Well, except 2017. Nothing was his fault before or after.

It's like Ben Simmons getting so many assists.  Because he's afraid to shoot the ball.  If a player is so good at contested catches, it means everything is contested because he can't get separation.  I guess that's what the tweet is trying to say.

I think JJAW also led college football in contested catches. It was one of the reasons that supposedly the Eagles wanted him.  So, I think there is some truth to contested catches being a cautionary stat.  You want a WR who can catch a contested ball, but if they are almost always in a contested catch situations against CBs who will most likely get a desk job in a few years, then it should be a warning sign.

Yep.  I bemoaned this the day JJAW was drafted.  I'm all for a fun highlight reel of contested catches as the icing on the cake for a great prospect.  But too many contested catches are a sign of a problem, especially in college.

The Eagles chose to build their offense around contested catches when they rolled with 12 personnel, extended Alshon, and drafted JJAW.  It was a predictable, congested disaster.  Then they rapidly changed course in the 2020 offseason, but the problem is that they forced it and got all the wrong fast players.

I’ll stick with the one season in franchise history that we went 13-3, had the 1st seed and won the Super Bowl, as the outlier.  You know, since it’s never happened.   But you all can wave the flag on those 10-6 and 9-7 playoff seasons.  Because they happen all the time.   Yeah, last year was a dumpster fire and certainly doesn’t happen often.  But if you didn’t see the downward trend after 2017, then you weren’t playing attention.

Face it. 2017 was a special year.  The rest during Howie’s "reign” have been mediocre.

You're entitled to that opinion and they're entitled to theirs. Not one spec of it really matters though because if Howie somehow pulls a winning season out of his arse this year he is going nowhere. Honestly even if he doesn't (unless Hurts falls completely on his face and Wentz wins a super bowl and probably not even then) Howie isn't getting fired.

100% "contested catches' in college means he aint getting open and he has no chance in the nfl

Howie MIGHT actually get fired if the Eagles win 4 or fewer games AND Wentz has an MVP caliber season.  If only one happens without the other, Howie is safer than the free safety with over the top coverage of Greg Ward.

Ok...we all know this.  But there is a lot that we can't control, but still discuss it.  As a matter of fact, we can't control anything when it comes to the Eagles.  But we still discuss scenarios, hopes, wishes, grievances, etc....

True enough, I thought just for a second there that maybe I saw you with a glimmer of hope and I wanted to crush that immediately

We will not lose more than 4 with Hurts legs still being young and healthy.

3. I think Thomas Dimitroff is on to something big. The former Falcons general manager has now interviewed 15 GMs for an unfiltered TV show that he’s producing. The idea is to show aspects of the job—and the personalities behind it—that often go unseen/unexplained. Among the 15: Howie Roseman, Jason Licht, Mickey Loomis, and Brett Veach.

I think we all agree that the Eagles do not project as a good team.  But to win 4 or fewer games in a 17 game season requires a lot of bad luck and some late-season active tanking.  We had quite a bit of one and even a touch of the other last year.

I don't think they sniff 8 wins, but dropping to 4 requires a lot of independent failures that probably won't happen.

I'm going with 6-8 wins I think Hurt's legs wins us a few more than Carson's "legs" did last year.

Dolphins announced they will have 14 open to the public TC practices and also are having joint practices with the Falcons and the Bears.

Kind of annoying the Eagles are only doing 2 open practices all TC and no joint practices.

It's beyond frustrating that the Eagles went from the best TC fan experience at Lehigh to the absolute worst.  They claim we are the best fans in the world and it seems they move further away from the fans every year.

I am grateful to have less opportunity to watch this team, given that all of us don't have the restraint to watch them less on our own.

Consider it a kindness from Lurie.

No thanks. I don't want to see what Howie does behind the scenes to Lurie to keep his job.

Meh.  They would show only the things that make them look good. There's no way that Lurie would let them show Howie making mistakes.  It would only be worth watching if it showed the complete picture of successes and failures.

I’d watch it.

I also listened to the Flying Coach podcast with McVay and Shanahan. Great listen and gives awesome insight into how coaches view the game.

Eagles might surprise, depends on Hurts, Smith and Gannon.

They're going to have an elite OL, not just the starters, but they have real depth this year.

And when you have a top OL, that's a good start.

They had an elite OL last year, and 4/5 of the starters got hurt.  Then all of their backups got hurt.  Then a bunch of the 3rd stringers also got hurt.  Then Brett Toth had to play.  Now they are all a year older with an highly talented rookie that has been hurt more than our OL last season.  I don't see what you see.

They may have an elite OL.  That requires Dillard or Mailata to take the next step at LT, Johnson to return to near pre injury form and Brooks to return to near injury form.   In reality, every OL not named Juriga, Herbig and Pryor are returning from significant injuries.   And no one wants Herbig and Pryor as starting Gs.

Kelce - elbow

Johnson - ankle requiring surgery

Brooks - Achilles requiring surgery

Seumalo - MCL requiring surgery

Dillard - bicep tear, probably requiring surgery

Driscoll - MCL, probably requiring surgery

Mailata - concussion

Opeta - bulging disk requiring surgery

Dickerson - ACL requiring surgery

Clark - Achilles requiring surgery

Johnson and the last three had surgery at the end of last year and Driscoll’s was pretty close to that.  Add to that the history of injury for Mailata (stress fracture in back), Brooks (both Achilles and ACL), Dickerson and Johnson

While I too have suggested the OL will be better than last year, it’s not an absolute

Elite?    Question mark at LT.  Seamulo is ok.  Kelce is old.  Brooks is always hurt and is aging.  Lane Johnson is hurt often and is aging.  Where is this "elite” O line you speak of?

Howie got his DeLorean up to 88 and is going back to 2017.

Stop. Just stop.

We have two types of players on our OL: unproven guys with potential and old often injured guys who are at the end of their career.
