I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Or, "Hey, we know you can’t build a staff and you have limited connections because you were coaching HS football like 10 minutes ago, but we will hire you and assume you’ll magically build deep connections throughout the league.”

You got a source saying otherwise?

Nope.  Not sure Caplan does either.   But he does talk a lot.

He couldn't make adjustments in the passing game to make it work with Russell Wilson, DK Metcalf, and Tyler Lockett. Pass.

He was in the draft war room that drafted DK Metcalf and didn't draft JJAW.  And as Lurie says, he saw the process.

He definitely does.

Holy F.  You can’t have one without the other.  It took a few years of bad decisions to get us to $65+ million over the cap. That is not good at managing the cap.  Cap management takes roster management.  He’s failed since 2017.   And he’s never had to dump $65 million in cap space.

It’s possible that Lurie was once a good owner but now isn’t.  It’s possible that Howie was once good with the cap, but now isn’t.  If we can’t say Carson is a great QB now.  Then would should be able to say those things about Lowie.

Thank god the eagles finished the job in 2017. If they didn’t this franchise might be waiting for another decade or longer from having a realistic shot to win another with how things are currently going.

I am looking forward to Howie's post-draft PC more than the draft.

So... Howie perfectly executed a failed strategy that he came up with.  Sorry I'm not sure who the 'they' is that you are referring to.

Great execution, Howie... just a bad plan, but you carried it out perfectly.

You're jumping in the middle of a discussion that goes back and forth a few times. Again... I completely disagree with the strategy. The "they" is whoever decided on it. Knowing the Eagles, it was probably collective. Judging by Doug's decisions on playing older players throughout the season, it sure looks like he was on board with it.

Look I wanted Howie fired as GM as my number 1 change for the season. But I disagreed with the premise (or at least insinuation) that he didn't know what he was doing with the cap. He knew exactly what he was doing. I can want a guy fired from his current role but still acknowledge the things he does well. People tend to lose that objectivity and suddenly become blind to what someone is actually good at because it doesn't fit their narrative of wanting him removed. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Sure.

Doug won a SB, yet he couldn't network in 5 years? It's not like he didn't have the ability to talk to people.

Sure.  He's always so forthcoming... and always opens his heart.

I don’t know I think Howie was also banking on his drafting to be better than it has been when factoring in the cap situation down the road and 2021. Probably thinking well these young guys will step in for the older high priced veterans that we get rid of when the cap reaches this point so it won’t look as bad when we get rid of some of them. Meanwhile his drafting has been bad that he wasn’t expecting to have to do a complete rebuild and likely get rid of good players without proper replacements just to get under the cap. His drafting affected his cap management and they sit today where they are 60 over and not enough good young talent to supplant the guys he’s likely would’ve moved on from to get cap compliant. His poor drafting goes hand in hand with his bad cap management

Add on he had some crappy contracts with FA since 2018 and could not recognize this team’s window was done after 2019 and needed a rebuild

The drafting has been absolutely atrocious for many years and is fire-able all by itself. That stat about drafting pro bowlers is just insane.

"They can’t all be pro bowlers” has been echoed around Eagles messages boards for years.

They can’t all not be pro bowlers either.

To quote Howie, hope is not a plan. You can’t hope Doug would build a strong network of coaches. He also comes from the Reid school of promoting from within.

The fact the nba is making them play these games with basically 7 guys before tonight is ridiculous. The Celtics have 8 guys to play yet they cancel their games for the week. I’m guessing the nba sticking it to the sixers for the whole tanking

It's absolutely true. He's gotten better over the years. Threw 40 TDs this year.
