He’s never even been a coordinator

Neither was Reid though.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

This franchise has become a clown show.  The actions of the owner this week have brought him ridicule from the NFL community across the entire country.  His answers to simple questions posed by reporters should have been painfully embarrassing, had he any semblance of self awareness.  He’s well into a transition to make this franchise the new Bengals.

I can’t and don’t feel any which way about who is the next coach of the Eagles.  The indefensible and pathetic retention of Roseman, along with the sad excuses and rationalizations of the owner, give me no reason to believe that the next coach will be of any consequence.  The same decisions on personnel and the draft will handicap whoever takes the job.  Chances of success are quite limited at best.  I actually feel bad for Duce if they give it to him.  I don’t know what top candidate would want the job.  The owner will have to overpay in all likelihood.

While it may have been time for a Doug to go, the way it was done was completely wrong, just like most things this owner does nowadays.  It looks like clear scapegoating, and that is not something Doug deserved.  This kind of evaluation and decision should have been made by season end.  As discussed, you can’t make this decision while also retaining personnel leadership.  The GM and top people on that side should have been fired before the season was even over.

I don’t care who they hire, the franchise is a mess.  It has no direction, no leadership, and now is morphing into something that is wholly unworthy of the dedicated and loyal following it has in this community.

I think this article sums it up... it’s a bad product.

And Wentz value will be even less and his contract even messier (i believe though I'm not certain).

I think the contract will be less "messier". And yes it may be a gamble.

So, now you are back to saying it is a fact... not just a figure of speech?   So, it was a fact... then it was your opinion... and now its back to a fact?

Let's start with this fallacy... appeal to authority.  You appealed to Howard Eskin, who has had a long and tenuous relationship with the Eagles and Eagles fans.  He was a Cowboys' fan during their run in the 90's.  So, please don't say that Howard 'usually' backs the Eagles.  He 'usually' does whatever he thinks works better for him in the moment.

I listened to that portion of the radio show with Howard, just to help determine what Howard actually said.

The first part of the interview is Howard offering his opinion, and he used the phrase "I think" repeatedly.   He thinks Doug basically went in to the meeting with Lurie saying "this is what I want and you can either give it to me or fire me."  Howard also has a way of saying his opinion in such a way as to frame it as if it were fact... his old line of 'stone cold mortal lock' etc.

Here's what he actually said:  "In talking to 'somebody' from the KC Chiefs - there is no way that anybody from the Chiefs is coming here.... (diatribe)...  They know the issues here."

So, you could read into this, but this is not established fact.  This is an unnamed source.   There is NO reference to Andy Reid.  Howard talked to 'somebody' from the Chiefs, but didn't claim it was Andy Reid, so there is no establishment of fact that Andy Reid is upset.  I would put this into the 'rumor' category.  He also is of the opinion that Kafka goes back to KC as the OC, rather than taking any HC job as Bieniemy leaves to go to take a HC position somewhere else.  And believes that Bieniemy will have top choice of all the jobs.

Interesting thing is that Howie says that he knows 100% that Jalen Reagor was a Howie Roseman pick.  Take it for what its worth.   He took issue with the Jeff McLane article about the Reagor article, implying that it was a Howie Roseman mouthpiece article.  So we have a 'he said - he said" there.   So, now there are conflicting rumors about who is to blame for Reagor over Jefferson.

ahem, spare the rest of us

Hot take on Doug. He sits the year out McCarthy gets the can at the end of this year and Doug coaches the Cowboys.

You are full of negativity today.   It's too early in the day for that.

Good morning folks!

That's a figure of speech.  Smh.

Figure of speech.  I shouldn't need to put "imo" after every post.

Saying something is a fact is a figure of speech?

Actually it’s more feasible to cut him after 2021. If before June 1st it’s 24.5 mil in dead money with a cap savings of 6.7 million. If they do post June first it’s a 9 million dead money and 22 cap savings. If traded pre June 1st save little less than a million  next year 6.7 million

Just pointing out those numbers are going to change. $15M of his 2022 base becomes fully guaranteed on the third day of the new league year of 2021.

I didn't realize he was coaching.  He was a super smart linebacker...pretty sure, but could be wrong that he's a 3-4 guy.  I love great linebacker play so these defensive names get me excited.  I would love to have dominate players at the position again....heck I'd settle for average.

I'd take 3 Omar Gaithers in a heartbeat.

Does anyone really have any confidence between Howie and Jeff that they get this right?  I'd like to thank god and divine intervention for our Super Bowl, but I can see them hiring someone completely off the wall and drafting players that we should have no business drafting.

Finally got the trail camera, my wife got me for Christmas to work.  We live in a subdivision with a small patch of woods behind our house that has another subdivision on the other side of them.  But I see a ton of tracks.

The phrase "The fact" or "As a matter of fact", when the entire conversation is based on an opinion/theory, yes.  Like this:  "As a matter of fact, I would guess that phrase is used more often as a figure of speech than it is used to state something that is 100% factual."  In American vernacular, it often used to put emphasis on a statement.  So if your entire conversation leading up to that statement is based on opinion/theory, when you use the phrase "the fact", it is putting emphasis on your opinion/theory (because in your opinion it is a fact).

Belicheck coaches are neither 3-4/4-3. They learn everything.

Mayo's official title is ILBs coach, but he calls the plays the past 2 years for NE. That includes last year when they were the #1 defense.

Love interviewing Mayo, but I think he's a year or 2 away.

Good to know.  That's the kind of thing I want to hear about a guy.  Young, instantly improves a team and gets them to be ranked under him.

Didn’t Mayo play for the Pats just a few years ago? Hell, you could have told me he was playing and I wouldn’t have disagreed. He can’t be much older than 30
