Don’t forget if they trade wentz or hurts they need to draft a QB in the second round again as a backup cause they need another cheap backup QB in that scenario.

I'd say little.  He came in without much experience, filled the emotional intelligence gap that was missing but I don't think proved to be any kind of offensive innovator...didn't have a deep rolodex of other coaches to bring in, and generally presided over a dysfunctional team without any signs of turning it around (admittedly not all his doing) and seemed generally unwilling to give up being the OC.

I have always held the opinion that I want my HC to be a true HC and I want a DC and OC that he oversees.  I think there are just too many small details on game day to see the big picture of a game if you have a hybrid HC/OC or HC/DC.

So in my mind, especially if your solution is Press Taylor as a pseudo OC and you are playing JP and Alshon over young guys, Doug proved he probably didn't deserve more control.

We will only know after it’s leaked that Howie wanted the good ones but decided to let others make the bad picks.

We are trying to recruit a new head coach. There is a growing narrative that Lurie and Howie are meddlers and that this perception among potential candidates will make the Eagles' job less attractive.

 

If Howie is always right, I hope this is explained to the next coach. Howie should make all decisions based on his own evaluation along with the scouts. Don’t let the coach have much say at all. 

It’s time to let Howie swim without floaties.

Never mind, that was because Doug and Schwartz picked the wrong guys. 

Yup... let's play it out... 

 

If Howie is only an information gatherer, with no real opinion of his own... and he just follows the lead of whomever the coaches are... and so the downfall of this franchise is the result of bad player acquisitions at the behest of the coaches (aka, Doug and Schwartz in this case)... then all the GOOD players brought in would have had to ALSO have been at the behest of the coaches (or other front office folks, perhaps) in the 2012, 2013 and 2016/17 process that afan is alluding to.  

So, Cox, Kendricks and Foles in 2012 must have been because of Andy, et al... not Howie.  
The moves to select Wentz, Seumalo and Vaitai would have had to be Doug, Reich, DeFilippo and Stoutland.
The decision to bring in players from the RAVENS and BEARS (Jernigan, Torry Smith and Alshon Jeffery) prior to 2017, must have been at the behest of someone connected to them... Who could that be?

 

 

Its funny... Howie always seems to be raised up by certain posters for every single GOOD move that is by the Eagles... while they find scape goats upon which to blame all the others, because Howie is just an information gatherer.   

 

Which means it all boils down to this:  The Eagles better get a really good talent evaluating coaching staff in here so that Howie is listening to them, and not to other voices in his head.

right, but what I'm saying is that a potential new coach could just look at all the control that Chip got and realize maybe the Eagles give or take control on a case by case basis.

Coughlin and Sumlin. There no rush approach made them lose out on Gase who was believed to be one of if not the top target. McAdoo was on his way for a second interview and Giants jumped to sign him. There might have been some other that declined an interview that I can't think of.

This is very simple.  

If their new HC is Daboll or Bieniemy or Saleh...say what you want about those guys, but they are the most coveted 3...then all this panic was a little overblown.  Either no one was that worried about Howie/Lurie or money talks, which is the same thing.  

And if they hire someone completely off the radar who is just happy for the job, you'll know that's a combination of all they could get and exactly what they want to exert control over the HC.

Good thing they didn’t get sumlin i can tell you while at Arizona he was even more of an alcoholic then he was at Texas am and the last year he basically knew he was getting fired so he stopped caring and was just cashing a paycheck.

Yep.  I'm on team anti-Howie, but if there is ANY opinion I completely disregard, it's that of an fresh ex-player.  I'd rather listen to WIP caller.

Cut-off was KC's bye week. After that, teams have to wait. Had they have pulled the trigger on Doug sooner, they could have gotten an interview with him.
