Hurts got us a key win that cost us a top three pick.

Isn’t that worth a second-round pick for a rebuilding team?

Yeah but if you trade hurts then we have to draft another QB in the second round cause of our cap and needing a cheap backup.....

It’s basically why Lombardi said what he did that offseason. Well besides being an idiot

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

There was but it was more spun that Schwartz was trying to attempt a coup

With Brady, we can go through some growing pains because we aren’t competing for squat in the next couple of seasons.

I find it hard to hitch myself to a coaching name.  I was early to the Daboll bandwagon because I had to watch more Bills football this year than I'd have liked.  He did a great job there...on his own.  Sorry Mcdermott.  Even that doesn't mean he'd be a great HC.

As fans, we judge these guys based on the known commodities they studied under and the performance of the offenses (mostly) that they coordinated.  That's pretty weak information, but it's all we've got.

No one would be interested in a retread from the Browns who ducked out of the NFL's largest market and was bizarrely estranged from the brightest coach in the NFL, but that is what produced the best coach in NFL history.

That's not to defend whatever 15th choice HC the Eagles manage to get, just to reinforce that we have no idea which HC's from this year's crop will pan out.

The one thing we can say is that we know who the hot names are.  If they all quickly settle into other cities and Lurie pulls this "he's the one we wanted all along" schtick with someone you've never heard of, then we know no one wants to come here.  We are all going to just have to hope they get lucky.  It has happened before.

But that also means the hot names are probably a mirage, since they're hot just because of coming off a big season, like the FAs who get overpaid when they hit free agency off a peak year.

Not getting a hot name may means simply that the Eagles didn't like his interview and didn't care if someone else hired him.

And with most of the teams off the market now, the Eagles for all we know are waiting for a playoff team coach to become available.

The two best situations are either a team that has drafted a lot of talent but under performed (Cleveland) or a team where the owner is committed to a rebuild (no immediate pressure to win).

The worst situations is a team with average talent and an owner who wants to win now.

Saleh to the jets

Not sure why you didn't include 2020 with Herbert. He looked great even on a bad team. They'll likely improve this offseason and that game will be a problem for us

That game will be a problem for us if Herbert gets hurt, the backup plays, and the team doesn't improve.

The concern with him might be what kind of staff he could put together. But I'm not really sure how sticking around one more year in Carolina is gonna help that very much.

Just now seeing the vikings draft room reaction. Makes me even more disappointed in this franchise.

One day someone will push pride aside and make the easy picks. 2030 maybe..

Not a fan of Arthur Smith. Doesn’t seem to be anything special. Power run and play action. If the pieces are there it can work but the NFL is changing and the old school stuff is becoming outdated.

Btw, I was listening to the Mosher/Caplan podcast, and those guys mentioned 2 inconceivable things that happened with this team that I must have missed.

1. They interviewed Jim Schwartz for Doug's job after 2016. Utterly pathetic.

2. Carson and Doug "didn't speak" for the last month of this season. DIDN'T SPEAK.

I think some of the doomsday stuff around here and in local media is overblown sometimes, but my goodness this organization is a wreck right now.

Don't believe this at all lol

Two of the jobs that I think were more attractive than the Eagles’ gig was filled by candidates I wouldn’t have wanted.

Good start!

Actually a nice hire by them. Saleh should bring some toughness to that team.

I interpreted it as they haven’t had a one on one conversation, which others have reported that Wentz didn’t have a typical exit interview with Doug

Wouldn’t have mined Saleh depending on the OC.

Yup. Time to bring back David Culley.

Consider who the "they” is before reacting to this.  Sad, isn’t it?

I don’t care who the clowns hire.  Until the owner wakes up, steps back, and hires competent and qualified adults, I have no expectations on who "they” hire as coaches.  Whomever take the HC job has my sympathy.

I've been pounding the relentless speed and passing drum for about a decade here.  I keep saying that I don't like it, but that's what the NFL has become.  I look at anyone who talks about a physical downhill running game, running more, and possession WRs as if they are completely crazy.  That's like the old guy who can't join a wifi network lecturing people on how cell phones and the internet don't work properly.

But we are pushing past 2 decades of this trend.  Maybe not for the superficial fans (and they are the target)...but for the real passionate ones (basically everyone posting here), it's actually starting to get a little boring.

Maybe you let them play a little more.  MLB and hockey make adjustments year-to-year to normalize scoring, goalie pads, mound height, examining the ball.

I think it's time for the NFL to give defenses a chance to control an offense again.  An elite defense used to derail the top offenses in the league.  Let the DB's and WRs have a little more contact so that we can see 6'5" 220 4.6 WRs and 6'2" CBs get physical with each other again.  Maybe even find a way to make a power running game a useful part of the offense rather than one of the worst per play statistical things you can do besides punting on 3rd down.  For any team, individually, to try any one of these things would be competitive suicide.  But it's time for the NFL to move the goalposts a bit here...back closer to where they used to be.

Air raid offense combined with the west coast! Pass 70 times a game

I’m still holding out hope we get a repeat of 2013 when Chip was supposed to stay at Oregon with Lincoln Riley.

One of the big knocks I had of our last coaching search was that we didn’t look too much at defensive-minded coaches.

Not because we limited our options (I want an offensive HC), but it was a chance to sit down with the brightest defensive minds and pick their brains. Chatting with Saleh, Bowles, Mayo will give the Eagles a chance to talk strategy, trends, up and coming coaches, etc.

I remember people saying at the time that it’s a waste to interview guys who weren’t serious candidates. I don’t think that could be further from the truth. It’s a golden opportunity.
