Though I've sad maybe a month ago, the only way you're going to fix Carson Wentz is to commit to the running game. Make his job easier. Like Tannehill's is. Like Mayfield. Like Garappolo last year. It's become clear that Lowie is committed to Wentz. Regardless of what they've said. So I could see them following this plan and hiring Smith.

The only way to "fix" Wentz is to give him weapons that work and also run the ball. You also can have a line that routinely gives him about 2 seconds or less to get rid of the ball and then call plays that take 3 seconds to work.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

And maybe use any weapons you do have in the way that they are supposed to be used... like no more Greg Ward flanker screens.  Oh wait, we saw that, after Wentz was benched.

So do we call this Black Friday?

The Team is 70 million over the cap. Wait till the dust settles before you determine how good this Dline and Oline is.

Not to mention the age on the Oline and Dline

And the fact that Stout probably won’t be here

Bowles, Bienemy, Kafka and Duce - maybe any one of those guys would be a great hire looking back, but none of them excite me at all.

And you have to coach him, hard.  Drill mechanics.  If he’s not accepting the hard coaching, he’s gotta go.

Agree

Did he delete the tweet or something? I don’t see it.

I'd prefer we have a coach before next week but Lurie thinks getting the last coach is best.

With a guy like Henry play calling is easy. Even Doug couldn’t screw it up.

But to be serious I’m just not impressed with the Titans O. If Henry isn’t the RB I don’t believe they have the same success

I hope you don't like Beienemy then.  Guy has Mahomes, Kelce, Watkins, Hill etc.

Becoming clear...just like the draft where the Eagles watch other teams get the players they think are good, it appears they are doing the same with coaches.

Let's be honest, that's how we ended up with DP.  He was like choice number 8.

And Andy...

Yes, I've heard that.  I've seen the trackers.   And I heard from a lot of people that Jefferson was only a slot WR.   The Eagles missed the boat.  And ALL responsible for this mess should be gone.  Sadly, its only a fraction of them.

I think what most are missing in this WR debate is utilization.

The main issue I see with WR's is the staff would take in rookies and throw the entire playbook at them.  Want them to learn every role, despite what fits they're play.  Then wonder why they're not producing, or they're inconsistent.

I think the same sort or argument could be made for a lot of HC hires. Not a lot of guys get hired coaching bad to OK players. Is the guy maximizing his offensive talent?

With Smith there’s no doubt about that. Henry doesn’t get 2,000 yards only because he’s great. Tannehill doesn’t become hyper efficient only because of Henry and Brown.

Of course there’s a lot more that goes into a hire than playcalling, but we only get to see the tip of the iceberg with these guys.

They aren't getting Wentz past mental issues with him looking over his shoulder. Hurts hasn't shown enough to warrant giving up on Wentz, so they have to pick.

Are you on crack? Hurts hasn't shown sheet

While I agree they shouldn’t rush, I am annoyed that they got a late start given how obvious it was that they needed to move on

Why do people think college QBs are guaranteed to be successful, even if picked high:

2019:  Murray #1, Jones #6, Haskins #15

2018:  Mayfield #1, Darnold #3, Allen #7, Rosen #10

2017:  Trubisky #2, Mahomes #10,  Watson #12

2016:  Goff #1, Wentz #2, Lynch #26

2015:  Winston #1, Mariota #2,

2014:  Bortles #3, Manziel #22,

2013:  Manuel #16

2012:  Luck #1, RGIII #2, Tannehill #8, Weeden #22

2011:  Newton #1, Locker #8, Gabbert #10, Ponder #12

Not a single person in the history of this blog has ever said that.

Yup. If Lurie believed Doug needed an overhaul of his coaching staff and didn’t like his answers at their first meeting, that should have been enough to move on.

Doug was never going to attract a great OC because he was looking like a lame duck coach, and if Doug was on thin ice, it would make all the sense in the world for Doug to want people he knows and trusts to try to make it work.

Lurie botched it.

So it looks like

Daboll to LA Chargers, Saleh to the Jets and Smith to the Falcons.

That still leaves Joe Brady to the Eagles.

Where did you hear this? Can he even interview right now?

Duce is a motivator of men. Surround himself with REAL coordinators and I think he will do amazing

And yet no one else has ever interviewed him.

Pretty coincidental this comes out ten minutes after the Saleh news drops

It literally says "now with Saleh off the market". I mean it's in response to that, how is that some kind of coincidental conspiracy in your mind?

It won't happen... he will want to talk to Bieniemy and/or Daboll.  They are unavailable for interviews until they are eliminated.  So, the week before the Super Bowl is the soonest it could conceivably happen.

I can agree with that as well.
