I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Anderson wasn't really available or someone would have traded for him. Jets were going to lose him without compensation, now it couldn't be that their GM was an idiot and thought he could get a 1st or 2nd rd pick for a guy who had a meh career for them (and was a UDFA in the first place).

Agholor goes to Gruden and becomes a deep threat, doesn't that suggest the problem was the coach, not the player, square pegs and round holes.

Jackson in 2017 had 40 tackles, 8 sacks, 11 QH, in 3 playoff games, 8 tackles, 1 sack, 3 QH. his stats fell off the next year with his snap count, but he was never used to his strengths in Jax.

Eagles were better suited to his style of play, he was paid like a starting DT but not an all pro, market value. Got injured after 1 game and wasn't nearly as explosive this season.

In the Eagle scheme, he wouldn't be playing run defense at the LOS but with Cox absorbing the double teams, would be encouraged to shoot the gaps.

Reason they went for him was Jerrigan getting injured at 26. Without a DT to pair with Cox, this defense is vulnerable.

Their hot salsa is addicting.  I drown my burrito bowls in it, but it feels like someone is igniting a mini-flamethrower during the exit strategy.

Omg his snap count went down because he was BAD. He played awful that’s why he got benched. So he was great in 2016 and 2017 in their system but 2018 he bottomed out. So clearly he had no issue the system for 2 years but 2018 it was clearly just the system 🙄. Yeah don’t buy that BS

He wasBAD and declined MASSIVELY in 2018. We weren’t signing 2017 Malik Jackson Cause he didn’t sign until March 2019. He was awful against the run in 2018 and he showed massive decline in 2018. To the point they benched him. I don’t care about 2017 at the point when they signed him that was 2 seasons removed. Again you keep dancing around the fact he was bad  into 2018 and bring up 2017 which again is flawed logic. You can’t skip seasons of their careers and go back. If that’s the case end of 2019 Carson wentz was great so restructure his contract. Wait that doesn’t make any logical sense considering the fact in 2020 he wasn’t good

I do not care if he fit the eagle system better. He had shown decline and coming off the season he currently had it was foolish contract structure to give him. The type of contract he got was to be a top 10-15 defensive tackle the league. The point of the time that contract was signed he was nowhere close to that. He had a 64 grade by PFF and 55 against the run. And even your Marcus Hayes column told you he was awful against the run that year and played very poorly. Your spin is ridiculously awful of it was the system. Meanwhile he had two good years in 2016 and 2017 in the system. But in 2018 the system clearly killed him. But not the previous two seasons.....riiiiight that makes sense

again the Eagles could have traded for Anderson. They asked for a second round pick which you would’ve gotten 24 games of Anderson instead of eight games from Golden Tate where you didn’t even get a compensatory pick for a whole other season. And based off your logic any pick outside of 100 only has a 10% chance of being a starter so what really good is that third round compensatory pic as it was at 104 and was highly likely to be outside the top 100. That’s using your logic. So I could’ve had a proven starter for 24 games and a chance to re-sign him (oh while avoiding getting into a contract in trade for DeSean Jackson) but instead I decided to pay one round less for a slot receiver who left and we got a compensatory pick that you told me it’s only 10% chance we get a starter. Add on since Nelson Agholor was mentally not able to succeed in Philadelphia besides 2017 we had a redundancy of slot wide receivers and all while we played 12 personnel the most in the NFL. so I could understand why they had some trouble incorporating him. Because he didn’t make much sense if you kept Nelson and you kept running 12 personnel at the percentages you were playing it as tate was a slot receiver at this stage of his career

as for agholor don’t you think maybe his mental capacity playing in Philadelphia has anything to do with the fact he actually looks better in Vegas then Philadelphia? No of course not. Lol. Let’s just ignore the fact besides one season in Philadelphia (where he’s was majority slot) he was a mental midget in Philadelphia. That couldn’t possibly be taken into account by the eagles. No one could’ve seen that....

What does Surtain Jr. need to run in 40 to make him viable at 6 or trade down a few picks?

For Howie and Jeff or for a competent GM?

Viable at #6?  You’d have to believe he’ll be the next Jalen Ramsey.

Surtain Jr. should get drafted #11 or 12.

Carmichael is a minion to Peyton, who's probably the most overrated coach in the league (no thanks)

Greg Roman LOL. You must not watch Ravens game. That offensive relies on scrambling. Scrambling isnt an offensive strategy. Hence the reason they havent dont crap in the playoffs.

PASS ON BOTH

SMH.  While he easily has the most punchable face on planet earth, this is a ridiculous take.  He's a top coach in the league, has his team in or deep into the playoffs almost every single year for a very long period of time, and for the last 2 seasons has proven he can plug in a back-up QB for a shorter period of time and almost not skip a beat.  His 2 back-up QBs the last 2 years are 8-1.  That's unheard of, and it's because he's a great coach.

Peters wasn't even supposed to be on the team. For that reason. That's why they groomed Dillard and were developing Mailata.

Brooks came back from the first achilles without even missing a season, there was no reason to expect the second one, never happened to Peters, for example. When, not if, applies to practically every NFL player who doesn't come from the Matthews gene pool.

Lane had off-season surgery, sure there's an issue, but if the surgery was successful, it's not a huge issue. Which is why I now worry it's degenerative.

Point is that you expect one major injury on your OL and one minor, two major in a bad season, but the whole freakin' line? That's really bad luck.

You can't plan for that kind of bad injury luck, there is neither the money or roster space. And the OL going down basically deep sixed the season.

Now you might also consider it good luck, since they would have been one and done, then picked #19. And a lot of young players got PT this past season.

Yes... exactly.   And they went to that well rather than try to find a longer term solution.

Yes, Peters never did, yet Hicks and Ryans did.  Therefore, 'risk'... which is what I've been saying.  All players have a risk of injury, some have higher risk.  Brooks falls into that higher risk category after the first Achilles.

You OL going down was a major hurdle, no doubt.  Having them shuffle as much as they did was an unnecessary added problem.  Like I said, once Mailata was entered, he should have stayed.  And please don't give me the whole 'Peters outplayed Mailata for those two games'.  That was just more shuffling for a guy with no future here, versus a guy who has all the tools, but needs the technique.  Let him play through it.   Or move Peters back to RG where he was working in TC.

I would consider it 'good luck', if they had recognized what this season was and worked to develop the younger players, not to run out there the old and busted to try to justify their contract status.   Alshon never should have taken the field.   Once he hit the field, Mailata should have never come off.  Fulgham should have been ridden hard to get his practice habits up.  And let him work through his struggles.  Hightower was ignored, and now is a complete unknown.  Watkins should have been given more snaps...   Greg Ward should have been pushed to the back burner.

These are organizational decisions, and frankly, once the decision was made to go to Hurts, the old veterans like Alshon should have been shelved.  At that point is was 'evaluation time'.   And frankly, Travis Fulgham did 10x more to help the team win games than Alshon Jeffery and the case can very easily be made to any vet that's mad about it.

I think the bigger thing is i am guessing Sean Payton is going to tell him not to go to the Eagles. Especially after Sean Payton said this week we’re not modeling anything after the Eagles. Payton was also good friends with Doug so I can’t imagine he speaks glowingly about the eagles right now to Carmichael. I’d like Carmichael. I also wouldn’t mind if they interviewed pep Hamilton.

Which is an ideal spot to trade down and grab an extra late 2nd round pick.

A trade down from #6 to 11/12 should actually fetch two 2nd round picks, or even a 2nd and a 2022 1st.  I wouldn’t have a problem with the idea, depending how the board falls.

Below 4.5. But three cone and short shuttle need to factor in too, and fluid hips.  Technique wise, he appears to already be NFL starter ready.  That said, it is really hard to scout college DBs and WRs on TV alone.  Need some all 22 and that is not available for us fans.

Fun fact. Anyone can identify as anything. Not saying it's the right thing to do, but it's legal.

True enough, I am 1/1064th German Shepard, would that count?

My friend, an extremely knowledgeable Giants fan, shared a hilarious theory with me the other day, and I tend to agree with him on this.

I don't want my HC to look like he can play in the league (ie Robert Saleh).   I want my head coach to look like he's had some wear and tear.  The fat slob look has proven it can work (Andy Reid, Mike Holmgren to an extent).   I'd rather my head coach stay in his office until early in the morning, designing his offensive/defensive game plan for Sunday, with cartons of Chinese food all over his desk and maybe his OC or DC passed out on the floor.  I don't want my head coach using the team facilities to lift weights and workout to re-live his glory days.  Kyle Shanahan looks like a pencil-neck runt, and he wears a straight-brimmed hat, so he doesn't count.  And Sean McVay is 5'2, so he doesn't count either.

It's weird though. Saleh got hired by the Jets but the niners got the picks.. this does not make sense to me. Maybe I'm missing something.

The premise is to give the incentive to teams to develop these coaches internally, so that when they get promoted away there is a benefit to the team that does the groundwork, so to speak.

His logic is ridiculous

2016 and 2017 malik jackson played very good in the Jaguars system.

2018 malik was awful against the run, bad overall and benched due to his performance.

His logic: the system hurt him but not the two seasons prior when he was good.

Oooooor maybe a 29 year old DT with a ton of wear and tear might just have been on the decline and wasn’t what he was anymore.

which one makes more logical sense?
