Nah... I read back.  I'm a glutton for punishment.  But, eventually I put folks on ignore.  But, my weakness is when some others quote them and I see it... I actually take them off ignore to respond.  I need to stop doing that.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I can’t see myself watching one Phillies game this year.

they are likely going to finish in either fourth or last place. The fact that they are trying to sign Freddy Galvez and let Didi go when didi was one of their best players last year is sad. So likely gonna see Realmuto and didi gone

I’m confused how was bowles able to interview for the job when they are still in the playoffs. Meanwhile Kafka and beinemy can’t?

I live in Baltimore and going to Camden is fantastic, but I can’t just get into baseball anymore.

I'm split here, it's hard not to justify extending 2 All Pros in their prime.  Hindsight, you're right though.

I love the idea... but Howie made them the highest paid players at their respective positions, at and continued it through the time that they would no longer be in their prime.   That's where the issue comes.  You pay through about age 30 at top dollar, but after that, the dollar amount should be down.

The extension wasn't a 'bargain'.  He gave them market value and actually set market value.  2 years before they were due to free agency.   That's high risk.   But, I believe it was post-Super Bowl euphoria, and kick the can mentality.

So, if the head coaching game of musical chairs resumes with Arthur Smith hired by ATL — the game shapes up this way so far:

ATL — Arthur Smith

DET —

HOU —

JAX — Urban Meyer

LAC —

NYJ — Robert Saleh

PHI —

That leaves 4 open jobs — with Bienemy, Brady, and Daboll still out there on most candidate lists.  Other suitable names for me would be Pete Carmichael, Greg Roman, Brandon Staley, Lincoln Riley, Jim Caldwell, Nathaniel Hackett

That leaves names like Duce Staley and Todd Bowles that the Eagles have interviewed and I’d be underwhelmed with.  I still believe Mayo was actually a DC interview in fact.

Home run hire for us. Takes another spot off the board.

I still love baseball. However when the Phillies are awful it’s much harder to be as into. When the Phillies are good and really in the last 30 years was that 5 year run, a couple years to the build up to the run and the 1993 team it is much more enjoyable.

Brady HC Mayo DC

I still think interviewing Duce is purely just a favor for him and he’s not in serious contention. If you read Luries transcript from his terrible PC the other day he said "I expect Duce to be a candidate as well as help in the search” which is kind of a weird thing to say. If I’m applying for a promotion I’m not going to help my boss find someone better.

Can add Campbell to the lions based of rapoport’s tweet. I also think it’s highly likely daboll goes to the chargers. That’s been the rumor. So

I love Brooks as a person.  BUT... his contract ran through 2021.  They didn't need to extend him.  They only had to extend him to free up cap space... kicking the can, so that they could sign more older, expensive players.   Same with Johnson.   His contract ran through 2021... and they didn't need to extend him either.

I love them both, but there was no need to extend them, other than can kicking.

They were playing at a pro bowl level and top OL often play at a high level until 34-35. So let their contracts run out and you have to decide to resign them to a new deal or let them walk. So the extension not only freed up cap room when they were trying to contend, but gave the team an option (i.e. cut them in the out years if their performance declines, renegotiate or keep them if they're still playing at a high level).

Going by what rap just said I’m guessing zoom interviews are ok just not formal interviews

Mosher and Caplan on the HC search.

Analytics will play a big part in interviews. Eagles want it strongly embraced. If you don't embrace it, you aren't getting the job.

Kafka - really young, lacks experience. Mutual interest. Will require a leap of faith because of his age, lack of experience.

Moore - due diligence, intel on Dallas' offense might be a reason they're interviewing him.

Lincoln Riley - As of Thursday night, he has not turned down the job. He's still deciding if he wants to take a formal interview with the Eagles. Not completely shut out for him as of yet. If he agrees to an interview, take notice, it would mean he's very serious.

Arthur Smith - he's the top candidate of most teams, the "belle of the ball." Smith blew the Eagles away in the interview.

Brian Daboll - will he leave Buffalo? It's a great situation for him. He's ready, just needs to commit.

Joe Brady - put together an all-star cast of coaches he wants to bring in if he gets a job. Important part of the job is building a staff. Word in league circles is he might not be ready because of his age, but not sure if Eagles are one of those teams that feel that way.

Mayo - unbelievably detailed in defensive schemes and tactics. Very young and raw. He's basically their assistant DC.

Mosher thinks better than average chance Duce gets the job. Caplan doesn't agree.

I want Mayo in some capacity be it HC or DC.

Just interviewing has value, they can give him guidance about the weaknesses and strengths of his presentation, which can help him down the road when interviewing with other teams.

I think Garaofolo misspoke when he said ‘scheduled to interview today’

I think he meant scheduled to interview, but spoke today.

ATL — Arthur Smith

DET —Dan Campbell

HOU —Eric Bieniemy

JAX — Urban Meyer

LAC —Brian Daboll

NYJ — Robert Saleh

PHI —

That leaves Brady, Duce, some crappy hire like Bowles or Kafka, or something out of left field.

Meh.  For 4 million a year he's worth bringing back to see if he can become what they expect him to be.  (Or at least close).

HOU might well be Bienemy or Caldwell in order to appease Deshaun Watson

I don't think we know enough about Daboll yet to pencil him in anywhere. The speculation for his destination hasn't nearly been as strong as others.

Give me Brady or Duce with Caldwell at OC and Phillips at DC.

That would be music to my ears, if true — but ‘all-star cast of coaches’ is subjective.

The coaching staff of coordinators and assistants is just as important if not more so to me in the head coach search.

He has big time connections to the Chargers organization, he is one of the hottest candidates, and they are probably the most desirable opening. Obviously nothing is guaranteed but it makes a ton of sense.
