For Kafka to be persistently linked over 2 off seasons means that some sort of sniff test has taken place by the FO and Owner for it not be shot down. If he was a bad introvert, he wouldn't be trusted to coach Mahomes - what it would mean is the right coaching staff around him, in the same way a rampant extrovert would need some calming voices.  It's not justifying or excusing if he is appointed, but having been drafted an Eagle, they will have done their due diligence.

For me, it would be out there to make him HC, but it feels like an Eagles, smarter than the average bear, sort of thing to do.  But, gives the FO the leverage on staff that they seem to desire.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

None of us have any clue who would be a good hire. Look how many hot shot HC candidates fall flat on their faces.

Most of what you hear in the media is second-hand hearsay at best, a lot is just idle speculation.

A lot of the chatter I still think is agent-speak...a lot of stuff is tight-lipped...

Bad Chip drafts? He landed Lane Johnson, Zach Ertz and Jordan Poyer In his first draft. Had a bad 2nd draft then got Nelson Agholor Eric Rowe and Jordan Hicks who all become solid starters. Not great but nowhere near as bad as Howies been the last 3 years.

So it’s win a SB then pay the price? I beg to differ. Plenty of teams win SBs (some multiple) and still remain competitive. Seattle, New England, New Orleans, Baltimore, Pittsburg, Green Bay, so let’s get real here. Your reaching badly and now just look like another Eagles fan boy.

If anyone else spewed the stuff you been saying for the last 2-3 days the entire blog would be threatening to ignore you. Congratulations on that somehow you dont annoy the Blog elitist

Chip didn't run that first draft, he was barely in the building for that draft. It was the next draft where he brought in his own personnel guy (the kid from Alabama) and exiled Howie.

Let me say this Kafka hasn’t been my top guy or the guy i really want. However knowing the Eagles and the fact that they’ve been linked to them for two years kind of tells me they probably are high on him. They were last year enough to try and get him as an Oc and got blocked. And it’s been reported Andy Reid‘s right hand man and he’s worked with Patrick Mahomes as his quarterback coach for three years. All things the Eagles probably love

just to point out last year the Eagles tried to get him to come in there and be the offensive coordinator and were blocked. So instead of promoting Duce to the OC after that they went and just brought in a bunch of coaches and gave (according to Adam caplan and mosher in their podcast) press Taylor more responsibility then they gave Staley. So you want to Duce over him meanwhile the Eagles last year wanted to get Kafka and give him more responsibility than Duce who’s been here for years. Imo that’s a pretty telling situation from the Eagles

Don't understand why people want Kafka or Duce

If they trade one of the two quarterbacks you know we need a cheap back up quarterback again. So we definitely should draft one in the second round again.........

Unless we are hiring Lincoln Riley, we aren’t getting innovation. Brady is smart, but I don’t think he’s particularly innovative.

Last time we went for innovation, we got Chip.   I don't need 'innovation', I need intelligent use of personnel, intelligent game management over blind loyalty to analytics and maybe some player development for a nice wrinkle.

This is a bad as making Kafka the HC

This is very true. Doesn’t stop any of us from sharing strong opinions though.

The EMB has always been built on sharing strong opinions, and actually knowing the ins and the outs has never gotten in the way.

I don’t think anyone wants Kafka or Duce ideally. Frankly most of us have said with who’s left we want Brady. However i think the realization has come down to it might come down to Duce, Kafka or bieniemy. I’m not as high on bieniemy as others.

I’m liking having full screen Taryn Hatcher on Flyers PreGame!

Chip had plenty of say in that draft but to be honest that’s not even the point. Howie’s drafts since 2016 have been horrid and that’s the biggest reason why he had to give those insane contracts to cover up holes and now we have no talent and no money. It’s all on Howie.

What did you expect to be the result of the last three seasons? They gambled and lost. The 2017 team had almost no talent under 25 due to two bad Chip drafts, and the trade up for Wentz.

We won the SB, isn't that the goal? The goal of cap management is to win, not to win the most cap room contest.

Now the chickens have come home to roost, so we have three lean years after three flush years. I'll take that anytime.

If by 2023, the Eagles aren't positioned to take a step up, then it's time for Howie to go. But he's earned the right for one more shot at rebuilding.

All of these excuses might, I repeat might, apply to FA acquisition. They do not apply to drafting and they do not exonerate Howie.

Rather have Bieniemy than Kafka

Player after player has come out and supported Duce for the job.  So that means absolutely nothing?

The biggest concern I would have is Lurie and Howie treating him like Doug.  Duce could do the job, stop with all this nonsense like hes incompetent.

He could just as easily hire a good staff and be great.

If I was the new Falcons GM, I would plan to draft Parsons at #4, Trask/Jones at the top of Round 2, and RB/OL in Round 3

Fast forward to the announcement of hiring Duce:

Lurie: "Roseman! Are they booing me?"

Howie: "Uh no! They are saying, Duuuuuce! Duuuuce!"

I’ll disagree. I much rather have the guy who has worked with Patrick mahomes exclusive as his QB coach for 3 years, a former quarterback, and the guy that is Andy Reid’s right hand man according to Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher

Brandon Graham supporting Duce.

Why is it always defensive guys putting the endorsement on Duce and never an offensive guy or RB?

I’d add there were players last year supporting Duce becoming the OC. The eagles chose not too.

I think Corey Clement has endorsed him .... but I don’t endorse Corey Clement being an Eagles player anymore

If Duce is so great, then why were other teams not interested in him?
