Given that we're rebuilding, if the current players don't like the new HC, they'll be former players in a year or two.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I'm not the biggest Voracek fan, but I wish more Eagles players had the guts to do this.

One of the best Flyers trades of the past decade; getting rid of the marshmallow that was Jeff Carter and acquiring Voracek, who plays with skill, energy, and has probably won more fights than Carter over his career.

I’m not convinced he and Gritty aren’t the same person.

Not only will the team be pissed for not giving Duce the job after they lobbied for him so publicly, the media will also rip us for bypassing Eric Bienimy, a minority coordinator, for his white underling.

This is gonna be ugly.

There’s a small part of me that feels it needs to get uglier for Lurie to wake up. It’s going to suck for us fans, but it looks like this is what we have to live through before Lurie makes the most obvious change.

No, he isn't.   In here, yes.  But the truth is that most Eagle fans don't follow ths as closely as we do, are not as invested in the coaching/GM mess, and will just have a party and be ready to watch the first game of the season in September.   Many that do follow it closely aren't as angry or opinionated about it.  They are curious.  This message board is populated by a very small and not necessarily representative percentage of Eagle fans.  So while the press conferences and statements are ridiculous to us, most fans aren't even listening or reading the transcripts, and if they do, it doesn't move the needle much.

So that one appears all but done too.

"There was a disconnect even before Wentz was benched, though. Pederson would call a play only for his quarterback to occasionally kill it for no other reason than his personal distaste, sources said. It became "a pissing match” between the two, another source said.”

And...

"He doesn’t understand that he lost games for us,” a veteran player said. "He will never admit that and that’s a problem because he can’t get it corrected.”

And...

In the quarterback room, when his errors were pointed out, Wentz would sometimes make irrelevant excuses and Taylor wouldn’t correct him. For instance, there would be a play when he didn’t throw to an open receiver. The read was drawn up as designed, the coverage played out as expected, and he would be asked why he didn’t pull the trigger.

And Wentz would say the look wasn’t there, or he would overemphasize the pass rush, and when it was suggested the play be run again in practice as to get it right, he would object.

pretty good listen on the QBs

I find it hard to believe that I could listen to someone talk about our qbs for more than 2 minutes without getting angry and discouraged.

The media is ripping Lurie...it just isn’t in here.

That McLane story is a helluva read and pretty thorough.

Of course, but again, that doesn't impact most Eagle fans.  Amidst my group of rabid Eagle fans who follow closely i am the only one participating in any type of message board and our talk is focused on improving the offensive line.

Staley is the one defensive HC that would excite me. I love how the Rams rotate safeties to disguise coverage, scheme to take away big plays while giving a little on the ground and he maximizes his players while developing young guys.

Seems like a bright guy who would identify smart, forward thinking coaches on both sides of the ball, although that’s complete projection on my part.

At the very least, he’s a guy you want to talk to about where defenses are heading and about other up and coming coaches.

This is pretty damning if true.  As a Wentz Hoper I feel less hopeful when I read this kind of stuff.

There’s a lot more in the story. I didn’t want to give too much away. And to be fair, it bashes Doug and Press too.

Derrick Gunn doesn’t seem to think Brady will be the next coach.

Unbelievable story, outstanding reporting.  Not sure why some have any angst for McLane.  He works hard and gets the story.

Incredibly damning indictment of Wentz.  Since the benching, Ive expected the Eagles to trade Wentz, and to receive pretty decent compensation.  I expected a market to exist for him.  This insight has made me question that.  It seems more likely he is back given what is revealed here.  Not a great situation for the team, that’s for sure.

Seattle could make sense for Pederson. He’s from Washington and he could be the heir apparent to Carroll. He obviously gets to work with a baller QB.

Meh...

When things are going bad,  Wentz's audibles at the line "lost games for us".

When things are going great,  his audibles at the line made him an MVP candidate with a great QB rating on 3rd downs,  against the blitz, abs in the red zone.

Is there really a problem with his calls at the line? It always looked like overall team execution to me.

Agree. Reading this article, two thoughts kept popping into my head...

1. Why don't we get good sports reporting like this anymore? This article is amazing. So much better than ESPN reporting what athletes are tweeting that day or predicting which NFL team that female kicker from Vanderbilt should play for next year.

2. It appears Wentz is more of a problem than I ever realized. This seriously bums me out.

Not all audibles are the same. When things were going well maybe most of his audibles were the correct choice based on the look. In McLane’s story, it sounds like at least some or perhaps a lot of the audibles of late went away from plays that were called correctly to heat the defense.

We won’t get Wentz’s view on this so it’ll almost always be skewed against him. But these whispers have been out there for quite some time.

I’m not saying there is no truth to the McLane story, but if Wentz was acting like that much of a D would Kelce and other players put their neck on the line for him like they did?

It's not the calls at the line, it's the lack of accountability and leadership.   Leaders overcome poor interpersonal relationships to benefit the team.  We all do it at our jobs every day to support our teams and benefit our businesses.
