How much of it was diggs, Beasley and brown being a good WR corps? Having good competent WRs helps. It’s not a coincidence the last 4 teams have Hill (top 5 this year), Adams (top 5), diggs (top 5 this year) and Evans, godwin and AB. Besides the obvious they all have great QB play as well.

the reason why if I was daboll i would strike when the irons hot. If the bills next year aren’t as prolific on offense and Allen has a regression then it creates the well maybe it was lightning in a bottle cause 2020 wouldn’t match any of the other seasons. Doubt it happens but if it does that will be used against him way more than this search. Right now cause buffalo’s offense most of the year was great (2nd in scoring and 2nd in yards) he’s a hot name.

Sure, that’s reasons why he should take a job. I’m just saying why I don’t know how great of a candidate for HC he actually is.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I want to agree but the bucs this season have just not played well against the Saints.

I know it doesn't happen often but... I was right.

Bucs defense really made a huge difference. In the first two games they really struggled. This game they were able to create turnovers and gave the bucs excellent field position. When you score two touchdowns on drives of 1 play 3 yards and 4 plays 20 yards it’s Huge. Was the difference in the game.

I also thought they did an excellent job of containing kamara in the passing game and Thomas just hasn’t looked right all year and in a game like this he needed to be like he was the previous couple seasons. Also helped that brees looked done all game

Honestly not sure how great any of the candidates really are. Saleh if you were ok with a defensive minded coach was likely the best cause he also brought LaFleur with him. I think second best would likely have been smith, daboll or Brady. I didn’t mention Riley cause i doubt he leaves Oklahoma. Everyone of them has flaws though like usual first time HC candidates. However I’m curious as to why it was reported Arthur smith really impressed the eagles. Some obvious guesses and reasons but I’d love to know the greater details. Also curious as to who was going to be joe Brady’s staff cause supposedly it was also very impressive.

All this talk about Patricia being DC if we get McDaniels and the obvious guy is Jerod Mayo.

Which I really don’t want but at this point McDaniels might be the best available

The Bucs defense started the season well and then for some reason started to falter and to struggle. But yesterday as you say they came through.

There's so much wrong in this post that I don't have the time nor the energy to start a debate over it.

That said, the NFL is a performance based league.  Doug Pederson will likely get an opportunity to "redeem" himself at some point in the future and when he likely does, you can come back and review your post for what it is - nothing more than an il-informed hit piece. .

Many of the same things that you are saying here about Pederson were said about Andy Reid during his last few years here and after he left.  He's gone on to make the playoffs 7 out of 8 years since his departure, including 3 AFC Championship games and a Super Bowl title.

If Pederson does half of what Reid has accomplished, after he leaves here, that would be more than enough to prove his naysayers wrong, imo.

He won't.  I don't dislike him, just don't think he is a very good coach.   But it is amusing you called it an ill-informed hit piece.  That is funny.

Is he not an option anymore?

I think all has been quiet? I think the issue with Brady is his age, and whilst I think he may be a really really good NFL HC I think there's a real risk in taking him on right now due to his age. I know McVay was really young when he got the Rams job but he had been around as an NFL coach in some form for a good while at that point.

We're not gonna be good for a few years anyway, might as well hire him now and let him grow with us

Honestly, that could go for most of these coaches in the mix.  Have we ever known less about a group of candidates ever?

Belichick got to 11-5, and had 5 years in Cleveland.  That's not 1.5 seasons.

Running QB - That would explain the Tim Tebow connection, and the interest in Jalen Hurts.

There are more candidates left, we'll see how this all plays out...

Not sure where this love for McDaniels is coming from. There are 2 guys that made New England what they were and one of them is gone. McDaniels was/is nothing but white noise in the background.

You have to be prepared for that though don't you? Like, should you not be ready for that scenario? "If this happens, here is exactly what we do". Just because the player they really wanted gets picked the pick before, doesn't excuse them from missing on Reagor over Jefferson, Ayuk, Higgins and Claypool. It's like they had one guy they scouted correctly, and the rest ? Meh....  No!

IMO they all would’ve sucked here ... this past season

I'm preparing myself to be disappointed with whoever they hire and then to spend the next year hoping I was wrong. Then after that glad that I was so wrong as we celebrate 2 more super bowl wins

I think after the AFC Championship game even if they win.

I guess if Todd Bowles can interview today, so could Daboll.

I’m not going to repeat why I think McDaniels is a good candidate all over again.  Go back and read the last few pages.  I had a whole discussion on the matter.

Well I’ll say this, McDaniels was 4th on my list and the other guys are either singed or doesn’t seem to be interest with the Eagles FO.

I will be honest I dont expect much from McDaniels part of me feels like he can do what Pete Caroll and Bill Belichek did and that was get humbled In their first run at HC and figure it out on the second run. That’s just a gut feeling.

My biggest issue with McDaniels is in New England they just didn’t seem to value the Run game much. With a bunch of quick passes and kind of a dink and dunk offense I don’t see that fitting Wentz or Hurts.

We can interview anyone virtually, just not in person.

We could interview any SB coaches during their "bye" week in person.

I’m confused.  How can we interview him but have to wait for Daboll and Bienemy?

Per the Eagles’ know-it-all super fan.

Wentz starts next season behind a much better OL and better WRs, and gets a chance to revive his career.

They may even keep him on the bench another season if he flops, just to clear out most of the dead money on hjs contract (since he'll have zero trade value).

My expectation is with a more competent OC, a much better OL and even this group of WRs with a year of experience and coaching, we'll see 2017-2019 Wentz. Especially with a HC/OC who recognize he's a pocket QB who is mobile enough to buy time but is not suited to the RPO. They'll also train Hurts as a pocket QB (his weakness) as part of his development but have a group of RPO plays for him if he has to come in as the backup.

Come 2023 it'll work out in three ways

1) Wentz is the starter, Hurts is either extended on a nice backup QB contract (3yr $18M) if he develops or traded

2) Wentz is gone, Hurts is the starter and they add a veteran backup while looking for young QBs

3) Wentz and Hurts are gone and they trade up in the 2023 draft for a QB.

Meanwhile, while you wait for this to shakeout you build a team up, so whether it's a QB on the roster or one you draft, they have a solid OL and skill players to work with.

Wentz, the real elephant in the room

Hard for me to imagine him being a prima donna almost as much as my disbelief that Lurie would knowinlgly allow an obviously ( if all the deducers here are correct ) incompetent GM to sully his billion dollar enterprise

Any good guesses if any on the OL will be cap casualties ? I think if Wentz can pull it together, with those guys our O will be pretty good

Question is where will these better receivers come from

Probably on the roster with a coaching staff who can get WRs open.

The Chargers wouldn't let Staley interview with us. They really wanted him.

There are no reports we wanted to do that with any candidate. Even a guy like Saleh, that would have been leaked so he could get more money out of the Jets.
