Devonta Smith at #3 would be so, so, so good for us.

You’re using more than one draft pick on a 175-lb guy?  Just asking .....

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I wouldn't use Tebow as a knock for him. There's plenty of other reasons I don't want him

Surprised his agency publicly did that

McDaniel's Negatives:

Drafted Tim Tebow 10 years ago as a 34 year old Head Coach in the NFL.

Backed out of the Indy job.

Other coaches from New England have failed as Head Coaches with other really bad franchises.

Got fired as a 34 year old Head Coach 10 years ago, after 2 seasons.

Same with Peyton. That offense was Brady and not McDaniels

Did anyone else interview Doug? That worked out for us.

For a while.

So that the 6' contested catch WR with one season of productivity falls to us?  Or so that we can draft a QB?

Hopefully so that a QB falls to us and we can get a king's ransom from some desperate team and get better value than #6.

Both.

The more good players fall to us, the easier it is to get value trading down. Right now, I would bet money on a trade out.

So... if McDaniels is hired, Matt Patricia is the DC and Gase is the OC.... this will be a very weird turn of events.

I was staring at this thinking what a group of Misfits that would be.

Then I realized we won a SB with Doug, while Schwartz's defense gave up over 500 yards, and made one stop the entire game. And since Reich and Flip left, (other than Stoutland), our whole staff was a bunch of Misfits.

So in comparison, it might actually be better, but then I realize Patricia's Defense let Nick Foles Win the SB?

I dunno, I'm soo confused.

Sounds like a who's who of who not to hire.

Didn't Cutler put his house up on the market before McD said anything about trading him though? God, feels like an eternity ago

Based on the article on espn they were pretty close in timing. However there was a ton of rumors circulating that mcdaniels wanted to get cassle when he got the Broncos job. He wanted his own Qb. And I’m not saying Jay Cutler is anything to write home about. He’s not. However at that point in time Jay Cutler in his 3rd season was coming off a pro bowl season and had more upside than Matt Cassel and Kyle Orton. he got to an NFC championship game with Chicago a year later while Josh McDaniels got fired after 28 games

Re: Josh McDaniels

The bright side is he will likely coach the QB (if he's still here) much harder than before.  He's been willing to yell at the GOAT after all.

The down side is within 2 years or less he'll come to blows with Howie just like Chip did.  With those two personalities, its inevitable.  OTOH that may also be a bright side lol.

Phil? The Chargers didn't actually draft Rivers.

Yes but you get the point.

Of current candidates my preferred list would be:

Joe Brady

Josh McDaniels

Eric Bieniemy

Todd Bowles

Duce Staley

Jerod Mayo

Kellen Moore

Forgot 3 just so you have all of them

pissed off everyone in the Broncos organization and locker room. The players celebrated when he got fired.

Also the rumors part of the reason brady left was not wanting to deal with belichick but also mcdaniels. That’s also be been something out there

Without Brady his offenses were 18th, 19th, 27th and 32nd in scoring

The one mistake Dougie P made was not trying to send Howie back to the basement after the SB win. Unfortunately for him, that was the one year Howie decided to put in some work.

Hindsight is 20/20 but he probably should have at least tried to wrest more control at that point.

I wonder if it took all day yesterday for McD to try to convince Jeffrey and Howie that he isn't a complete dillhole.  I'd assume if somehow he did, they've got another full day session scheduled so he can advocate the same for Patricia.

Unless both somehow saw the light and did a complete 180, I'm not sure either are good enough coaches to overcome all the rest of the baggage they'll tote along with them.

The above are my preference in order

I'm sure McDermott had influence, doesn't matter, he was not one I'd be interested in.

I think a trade-down is the smart move, but then there's that whole Howie drafting problem.

He's more likely to get a quality player that is all but dictated to him from consensus top 10 options than he is with later picks that allow for far more opportunity to outsmart himself and to reach for 2nd round talents.

Daboll is even smarter than I thought.

not to stir up politics in here, but I'm starting to feel like this is our own version of the 2016 election...Trump?  Hillary?  Giant Meteor that ends all life?

tossup.

I like how they have to put in a jab. Most of the time when you take a job as a head coach there is some kind of mess to clean up

The point to remember with this- Tom Brady

Remember when the eagles traded for Sam Bradford and many on the board defended it like his past wasn’t reflective of what he could be in the future. That was fun

I saw earlier, I think it was McManus(?)said currently Eagles have not reached out to Bieniemy as of today yet.

The irony with Josh Mcdaniels is thicker than Jason Peters' pant size.  He's the one responsible for us losing Reich in 2018 (he was leaving sooner or later anyway) and the premature collapse of Wentz' maturation process.  And now he comes to pick up the pieces.

The NFL is littered with failed "proximity hire" coaches, but GMs do keep doing it for a reason.  Mcdaniels is getting a look due to his proximity to Belichick and Brady.  Bieniemy is the same thing, just an AR/Mahomes proximity hire.  Honestly, they could do worse than both...and probably will.

Well in Bradford's defense he was getting really bad coaching in 2011 🤣

at that Time I could not believe they gave up on Foles. I Stated very correctly at the time, you can win a SB with Foles.  (I know ahead of my time)

You can win a SB with Wentz. (lightning has been known to strike the same place more than once)

Yes, let the hatred flow.
