The irony with Josh Mcdaniels is thicker than Jason Peters' pant size.  He's the one responsible for us losing Reich in 2018 (he was leaving sooner or later anyway) and the premature collapse of Wentz' maturation process.  And now he comes to pick up the pieces.

The NFL is littered with failed "proximity hire" coaches, but GMs do keep doing it for a reason.  Mcdaniels is getting a look do to his proximity to Belichick and Brady.  Honestly, they could do worse.

Well in Bradford's defense he was getting really bad coaching in 2011 🤣

Honestly the amount of people that jump through hoops to make excuses that Sam Bradford was going to be good because he was drafted number one overall and he had all this talent and just couldn’t stay healthy and he’s had bad coaching. He was just not that good.

The best thing that ever happened with Sam Bradford with the Eagles is if they somehow got the Minnesota Vikings to believe that Captain check down was worthy of a first round pick.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Bradford was a pretty spectacular passer in college, IMO.  But he couldn't stay healthy AND he never put it together.  And multiple teams just keep thinking they could be the ones to cut away the shell of failure and turn him into the promise of the #1 overall pick.

at that Time I could not believe they gave up on Foles. I Stated very correctly at the time, you can win a SB with Foles.  (I know ahead of my time)

You can win a SB with Wentz. (lightning has been known to strike the same place more than once)

So we have to trade him this season as part of a deal for another QB and then sign him back in 2 seasons.

I thought it was a dumb trade at the time. they gave up a second round pick with Nick Foles who had proven more in the NFL then Sam Bradford. People were still going on about he was a number one pick and he has talent if he could stay healthy. He was never going to stay healthy and he wasn’t that good even when he did. Eagles fans trying to spin it to get themselves into believing Sam Bradford was actually good when he wasn’t. We got fortunate bridgewater got hurt and howie pulled off arguably one of his best moves as a gm to get a first for him.

So, do we have a HC yet?

I think the injuries played a part of it. He kind of began worrying about being hit because he was fragile. He had great arm talent coming out but that doesn’t mean you are capable of being an elite quarterback as he never really improved from Oklahoma to the nfl.

Hats off to his agent though. Bradford managed to have a 9 year nfl career and get paid large part due to being what he was at Oklahoma and going no. 1 overall.

or you could just keep him and you know, actually build a team around him.

I think Bradford was an upgrade over Foles.  Unfortunately, the dope coach/gm did not re-sign Maclin and traded away Lesean McCoy in that same offseason.  I mean how much better would that team been if they had drafted Byron Jones instead of Agholor. I think it would have looked like a much smarter moves if Kelly had kept the better offensive weapons and added a starting CB through the draft.  Unfortunately, he thought his system mattered more than the talent in the system.

I saw earlier, I think it was McManus(?)said currently Eagles have not reached out to Bieniemy as of today yet.

They reached out, they just didn't set up an interview.

Who knows with McDaniels? Belichick was a disaster in Cleveland, went back to being a DC, did a little better his second time around.

As far as Cutler, he never played better than under Shanahan, he regressed the next year in Chicago before finding his groove in a run first offense. Only one season in Chicago did he post a better QBR. McDaniels got 2 1st rd picks and a 3rd for him and Kyle Orton. Orton put up similar numbers to Cutler in 2009 and 2010.

Trading Marshall for 2 2nd rd picks wasn't quite as clever.

Real problem was drafting, in 2009 McDaniels had #12, #18, #37, #48, #64, only Moreno and Ayers had any impact out of those 5 picks.

Next season #22, #25, #45, #80, #87, Thomas was a great pick at #22, and Decker At #87, while Beadles G at #45 would be an all pro. Tebow at #25, not so much.

Orton went 3-10, but problem was the defense was horrendous.

They were almost as bad the next year when Fox somehow got them to 8-8 with Tebow, and beat Pittsburgh in the wild card. Two wins were in OT, for others by 4 points or less.

Then they bring in Peyton and are a power as long as he holds up.

I think 2010 Sam Bradford was an upgrade over Nick Foles. However it was 2015 Sam Bradford that the eagle Got At that point in time of his career after all the injuries and subpar play he wasn’t as good. At least Nick Foles you could say had one great year and his second season as a starter he was solid and was still on pace to have a better season then anything Bradford had shown to that point.

I don’t disagree with you on Chip Kelly. However Sam Bradford went to Minnesota where he had good weapons. Let’s not pretend Minnesota in 2016 didn’t have Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen and yet they still went 7-9. He was 20-5 td to int but it was super deceiving how he got there checking down and skewed stats in garbage time. It’s why the next year Keenan went off and Minnesota was the two seed.

Disaster?  In year 4, they got to an 11 win season.  Not all disaster.

For all of you with potential coach hot takes

1 winning season out of 5 is not good for job security.

Cool.   For the record, I was open to Doug being successful, and liked that they surrounded him with Reich, DeFilippo and Schwartz.

Any new hire will get a chance to prove any and all of us right/wrong on the field.

People have such a misconception of what happened with Cleveland with Bill Belichick. They were actually trending in the right direction before the owner decided to move them from Cleveland to Baltimore. The last season there they went from 11-5 to 5-11.  He, players in that team and other coaches on that staff talked about how that decision to move from Cleveland to Baltimore completely destroyed that 1995 season for the Browns.

My most liked comment on the old boards was I’m willing to give him a chance cause i don’t think he’s as bad as people were making out to be. He also had worked with HOF QBs throughout his career, played the position they needed to build and under reid.

what i find amazing is daboll has 5 rings with New England (might get one this year with buffalo) as well as a national championship with bama as the OC/QB coach and mcdaniels has 6 yet people are questioning daboll but ok with mcdaniels.

Nope.  But, it wasn't a disaster.   And the final year was when they announced mid-season that they were moving to Baltimore, and they won 1 game out of the last 8, while they were basically a 0.500 team before that and could have rebounded coming off the 11-5 season.   But, Art Modell wanted to make a splash in the new city... Ted Marchibroda... a former Baltimore Colts coach.

Big whoop.   But, like I said, not a disaster.  The disaster there was caused by Modell.

I do believe there is a 30 for 30 on that very topic.

There is and there’s a bunch of different places you can find articles/videos where they talk about it in depth to players and coaches about the moving completely destroying the season.

You're treating Daboll's role and influence on those NE teams as exactly the same as McDaniels -- which is again not accurate

NE no doubt has been a successful team for a long time.  The HC, OC and QB combo has worked very well.  This season that combo was broken and NE failed to make playoff first time in many years.  TB went to TB which is one of last 4 teams still playing.  Will McDaniel be successful elsewhere without the other parts?  Lurie has to be satisfied on the answer before hiring him.

One thing that may still be on the way is his backing-out of the Colts job and how the NE team will do when a deal is presented.

Remember when the trade was initially reported, it was that the Eagles were receiving the 2nd round pick.  I was ok with the trade, didn't love it, but thought maybe this dope thinks he can get more out of Bradford in his offense, plus gets the 2nd round pick to boot... then it was corrected, and I could not believe the level of stupidity involved... Give us a worse and more expensive injury plagued QB from your crappy team and take our better QB plus a nice 2nd rounder... I thought it was a joke.  Couldn't possibly be right.

One of the worst trades in Eagles history.  Visor idiot will never get another crack at the NFL, nor should he...
