You're treating Daboll's role and influence on those NE teams as exactly the same as McDaniels -- which is again not accurate

because mcdaniels winning 2 Super Bowls as a personal assistant and defensive assistant really holds a ton of weight if that’s what you are going to do with daboll.

So the guy who failed with every other QB not named Brady but the guy who has a national title as an OC and 5 rings with New England. As well as the feather in his cap of taking josh Allen who in college was 56% completion as most on this board thought sucked and was going to be a bust to 69%, mvp candidate and potentially winning a super bowl in buffalo as the de facto head coach of the offense should clearly be question while mcdaniels who has yet to do much of anything without Brady is unquestioned. Lol.

So because mcdaniels had success with Tom Brady and nowhere else he shouldn’t be questioned. But daboll has gone elsewhere found success and is questionable.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Josh McDaniels is probably one of the worst hires imo. Every year this team goes way too far in one direction.

In the draft they wanted speed. They legit took players just because they are fast. Davion is a great example. They just go too far with decisions. We now are picking the hard heading coach who has a history pissing players off.

Emotional intelligence to strict coach. Just like from Chip to Doug. Now back again.

No middle ground man. They seem so disconnected.

Not sure on McDaniels, but your assessment of the team decisions is dead on.  It's indicative or people that have no idea what they are doing.

I wouldn’t love the hire is an understatement. I’m willing to give him a chance however the amount of people who think he has less questions about him than daboll is pure ridiculousness.

At least I know daboll left New England and went elsewhere and had success without Tom Brady and belichick. I can’t say the same thing about McDaniels. Because of four times he hasn’t had Tom Brady he’s failed.  And daboll has questions about him too. I have never said he’s the perfect candidate. he has flaws as well. Like is this season with Josh Allen just lightning in a bottle, is Dorsey to thanm for Allen’s improvements as a QB, did rid the wave of New England and bama. Joe Brady also has questions about him. However Josh McDaniels also has a list of things going against him that people like to make excuses for. Like people get mad about the wentz excuses lord go read the excuses the past day with mcdaniels shortcomings.

These idiots are really going to hire the guy that potentially and arguably put them in this situation lol

I don’t think the Eagles would hire him because he’s strict. Lurie has always been attracted to offensive minds, and he’s one of the best. We don’t know if he’s learned how to be a leader yet since his last head coaching stint over a decade ago, but they want the mind of him.

Obviously, his staff would play a big factor as well and help him like Doug’s staff helped him.

Are we assuming Howie is going to allow mcdaniels to pick his own staff?

Yes. McDaniels wouldn't take the job otherwise I don't think.

They might however cause teams were clearly knocking down his door to hire him as head coach? I think he’d take it cause it’s a HC job there’s only 32 of them, he wants to be a HC.  his other alternative is going back to New England with no potential franchise QB and hurting himself even more as their offense could likely struggle again next year which hurts his chances even more next year if that were to occur again.

Chip and McDaniels are nothing alike.

You’d have to ask Belichick on that one.  McDaniels and Daboll got to New England right about the same time; McDaniels spent 12 years there as OC, Daboll zero.

More importantly, unless something changes and Daboll decides to interview for the Eagles head coach job, the debate becomes irrelevant to the current search.  I said previously I wouldn’t even interview McDaniels for a head coaching job, but now that the Eagles have decided to do just that, I’ll simply evaluate him relative to the other choices.  None of them check all the boxes, but the first criteria of the current job is to get Wentz back to an acceptable level of play.  Currently, only Joe Brady and McDaniels seem like suitable candidates toward that goal — unless another candidate emerges that we don’t know about yet.

Worst case scenario is Howie and McDaniels clash and the whole thing comes crumbling down, and Lurie says enough is enough, you're both gone.

This is why I want to gamble on a high upside offensive mind like Brady or McDaniels. It's a win/win. It either works out and we get someone who can scheme offense and get the most out of our QBs. Or it blows up and makes Howie look bad and Lurie question everything. Oh, and higher draft picks.

What I never wanted was a safe hire. Zero upside to it.

Worst SB I've ever watched. The part that was most fun was when it was over and we never had to watch it again.

Is it sad that I hope Todd Bowles knocks it out of the park so the Eagles don’t hire McDaniels?

Seriously, why even consider it if the rumor is to have Gase and Patricia around the team?

Gase - The guy who has ruined more QBs than concussions these playoffs.

Patricia - The egomaniac who everyone on the Lions team cheered for his firing. Great idea to bring him back to Slay who hated his guts.

I think McDaniels has pluses and minuses just like every canidate this offseason.  There is no clear cut choice here just hope we get lucky and pick the correct choice.  I would perfer Daboll and Brady over McDaniels but they come with question marks as well.  I would however take McDaniels over the KC guys and all the other people we interviewed.

The eagles are a mess. Let’s be honest nobody wants to coach here. Imagine having to deal with Roseman everyday JFC no thank you

I think we should hire McDaniels just so the illogical personal hate for Carson can be over shadowed by the illogical hate for JM.

How is it illogical? He's not trustworthy. He screwed us over. He cheats and uses loopholes. It was likely Brady and not McDaniels that made that offense effective. Those are rational reasons to not want him as a HC IMO

That SB is what changed my rooting interest philosophy when the Eagles are out of it. I used to root for teams I'd like to see win because I think it would be a good story. Now, I just want the best matchup. I don't want any risk of a crap SB. Ergo, I think Buffalo winning would be the best story, but Rodgers/Mahomes would be the most fun matchup. Gimme Rodgers/Mahomes.

I don’t disagree with your premise. Every candidate has their own flaws and questions. However when I read on here Josh McDaniels getting every excuse in the book for failing multiple different times without Tom Brady and away from New England it’s ridiculous. There’s no excuse for it it is what it is.

I don’t think daboll was coming here to begin with. I was more annoyed people are ripping him down for one game against the ravens and questioning everything about him. But then we have people on this board like Josh McDaniels is unquestionable. And anytime you point out some of his flaws they make excuses for him. Daboll has flaws and I don’t make an excuse of they are. People on here seem to think Josh McDaniels flaws are always somebody else’s fault but his.

A rumor that was formed in here?

From Eric Mangini who stated that if McDaniels were to take a HC job, he heard those guys would be the staff McDaniels would want with him.

Again another assumption you think Jeffrey Lurie is going to fire howie if this goes wrong. I’m of the assumption lurie is also responsible for hiring this coach so if it goes wrong it is also on him. And he will likely spin it someway somehow to keep howie around.

I’ve read Kevin O’Connell as OC, and Jonathan Gannon as DC under a Josh McDaniels coached team, but O’Connell just got the Rams OC job
