Worst Best case scenario is Howie and McDaniels clash and the whole thing comes crumbling down, and Lurie says enough is enough, you're both gone.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I completely disagree man. His Denver tenure was a complete clown show. Here are some quotes.

On why it did not work out:

I tell people to this day, I’ve never been more prepared for a game, ever, on any level of my career than being with Josh McDaniels. But, he didn’t have that extra factor that would make guys wanna run through walls. When it really gets tough, and it’s hurting, you can’t go anymore, and you just wanna stop? There are some coaches or teammates that are bigger than you, you just throw yourself in front of there, you jump on that grenade, and you just, it doesn’t matter what happens to you because this is for a bigger cause. And I don’t think, he was there with Belichick, and he got all the knowledge, and Belichick kinda seems standoffish, but a lot of guys that I know that have played with him, when it’s one-on-one with him, he’s relatable; you can talk to him. I don’t think Josh McDaniels learned that yet. I think Josh took all the knowledge and got that and came here with all the knowledge. And that’s why we were successful in the beginning and won those games. But when it hit the fan and things got tough? Guys didn’t want to go that extra mile for him. So, I honestly see Josh going down the road and becoming a head coach again. And I think his second time around, he’s gonna get it, he’s gonna understand it.

On if he enjoyed played for McDaniels:

No, I didn’t. Listen, I didn’t enjoy playing for him because it’s like, you take that course in school; it all depends on the professor. It could be the easiest class, or it could be the hardest class. If this professor wants to give you pop quizzes, randomly essays, this and that, it’s gonna be the hardest class ever. If your professor is a professor that, "hey, we’re gonna give a quiz on Friday, we’re gonna go over the subjects on Wednesday and Thursday, and talk about it,” it’s smooth. And Josh was that type of guy that to me, made football tougher than it had to be. Cuz, it’s already so tough. And what I didn’t like about him was our fun was scripted. So it’s not really fun, it’s not really enjoyable. It’s like, "hey, look at us right now, we’re enjoying ourselves, and we got ten minutes free time.” But, we knew about it a month in advance, so it’s not fun.

Champ Bailey:

He didn’t come in trying to earn respect, he demanded it,” Champ Bailey, the Broncos’ defensive captain and Broncos all-timer, told FS1. "And you have to earn respect. He rubbed a                 lot of people the wrong way in the building, in the organization. We felt very relieved when he left the locker room.”

There are tons of players quotes and stories on this guy. He demanded complete personnel control and blew up the Denver Broncos up. Not relatable to players. This isn't a good hire....

So just your average, typical arrogance that comes with hiring from the Belichick tree.

Could screw em up, but I'd rather take my chances at the top of the draft than at the middle. My general philosophy in sports is be really good or really bad. I'm so over being in the middle all the damn time. Give me hope for a parade or give me hope for a franchise-changing blue chip talent. Give me something to look forward to. That's all I ask.

I don’t disagree with the fact you rather be really bad then mediocre. That was my reasoning with not moving forward with Bradford after 2015. However i don’t bank on the eagles hitting on draft picks as the last couple years they haven’t done good picking.

Not sure on McDaniels, but your assessment of the team decisions is dead on.  It's indicative or people that have no idea what they are doing.

Sure they do... they do the extreme of the opposite of the thing they just did.

We need a thumbs down lol

Dude, this was a *decade* ago. Does you not think he's changed or capable of growing and learning from his mistakes? He may be the same a-hole he was then, but I'd be willing to hire him and find out. What's the worst that could happen? Waste Cameron Johnston years? Do you think the Eagles are *this* close that hiring the wrong guy could really ruin the stellar roster we have?

Idk but the rumors part of the reason Brady left was because of mcdaniels and being irritated with him (besides belichick). Whether you believe the rumors or not is a different story.

So a Head Coach has to earn peoples respect?  Man, pretty sure that's not how life works.  Glad I don't act that way with my job.  I would be fired on the spot.

You definitely need to earn respect when you have pissed off so many people in the league. He was 32 years old in his first head coaching gig trying to tell hall of fame players how to live their life. Didn't he discipline Brandon Marshall and others? Made boneheaded trades.

I'm not trying to argue. I just think this goes against what Lurie has been preaching. I actually think it is borderline ridiculous that Lurie might go this direction. Hopefully he has learned.

Yea. I agree this is dumb. I think he has enough history in the league to warrant caution though.

I don't think going back to the Patriots gave him a sense of humility.

Yes

So it's down to McDaniels, Bowles, and Duce meaning TATERGEDON whomever they choose

Seems like a bad locker room without leadership.  The head coach has to get the leaders on board, then everyone else follows.  If McDaniels failed to do that, then that’s on him.

A 44 year-old McDaniels would be better at it than he was at 32 years old, though.

I agree. I'm just extremely caution on him. I'm a football junkie and he has ridiculous stories surrounding him for years. Even the rumor about Brady sick on him.

Yep.  The guy was 34 years old!!  I know I am a lot different from what I was back then.

I'm still an ahole but my back hurts more often.

It's always Tatergeddon.  The only time the reaction was super positive was when the team hired Chippah.

The biggest question is if he's the guy, are they hiring him solely because they think he can fix Wentz? If so, the hire is moronic. You hire the guy you think is the best coach. If they hire him because they love his schemes and mind, great.

I hope whoever they land, it isn't just because of a Wentz mandate. Because if Wentz is perma-broke, and we are structuring the entire org. around him, we're doomed.

I guess Josh McDaniels would be the first person in the history of the world to fail at a promotion at 34 years old, then get another opportunity 10 years later/wiser and have success.

Dude you keep making those faces, but you don't reply to my question.  Is that why you really don't like him?  Because he "screwed over the Eagles"??  I replied to you.  Nothing else to say?  Seriously, do you think Reich would still be here and all the issues that have caused this team to plummet would have not happened?  You can click on all the silly faces you want.  It doesn't change the fact that, that is a goofy reason not to like a guy.  You're serious?

I've listed my reasons already

That's because most TATERS are more interested in big names and splash moves rather than the right moves. Look no further than everyone clamoring for Brian Daboll who has done NOTHING to suggest he is any more likely to be a successful head coach in the NFL than any of the other names.

So we've moved on from the "Screwed the Eagles over" thing.  Because again, that was a silly one.

In your opinion but yes I'm done with this convo

If Wentz is "perma-broke”, he’ll be gone after 2021.

Lurie had more invested in Wentz than Doug.  I doubt, however, the Eagles will choose Wentz over two successive head coaches.

Would rather have McDaniels than Duce or Bowles. Bienemy can stay away, too. No more coaching from the Andy tree for now.

I'm open to the idea of McDaniels if Meyo joins him.

If it's Patricia? Fire me into the sun.

I live in Maine and hear a ton Patriots stuff. I haven't heard anything about Brady and McDaniels having issues. Brady had issues with Belichick and O'Brien.

That is where I am at.  I would rather roll the dice on Brady seems either we arent interested in Daboll or he isn't interested in us that leaves?????   Throw a dart at the rest.  If it isn't Brady or Riley then McDaniels might be the best of the crap that is left
