8-8 would mean we hit on most of our picks, especially the top 3 rounds.  I don't see that happening.

Well that or we actually got average QB play. We are just an average QB away for crying out loud.

So depressing.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

While 8-8 is much better than I expect, a last place schedule combined with our division may make it somewhat difficult to lose too many games.

How can anyone watch the 2020 Eagles and think this?

What makes you say that?

The Erhardt-Perkins systems is very flexible. It's why it's worked with both Tom Brady and Josh Allen. In Alabama, they ran it with Hurts/Tua were the QBs.

It's a fantastic offensive system.

I'm sure we'll talk about this a lot, but the downside is that you need smart players to run it. If your WRs can't read coverages, it's over.

Sounds like McDaniels.  Perfect match.  What could go wrong?

That looks more fun than what we’ve had the last two seasons.

Which is why the first season is install the system, then evaluate the players' ability to work within it. Forget wins and losses, since they're rebuilding, they can focus on implementation and player evaluation.

The second season you dump the players who can't handle it, and promote the players who can, and draft for it.

The third season hopefully you've got everyone on the same page and start kicking ass.

This is why the consensus draft system is a must in today's NFL, so the scouts love a player, the HC then asks, how smart is he? Can he handle a complex system. Scouts: "well, he's a stud, unfortunately an Idaho stud." So he's off the board or at least pushed down. Fans, how did you pass on him, look how great he is in a system that caters to potatoes.

And it may depend on position, well, we can get by with dumb run down RBs, but on passing downs we need someone who can recognize blitzes, our TE can be dumb if he can block and catch, but our H-back has to be able to read pass defense schemes and recognize who to block in the open field.

This could be a name that fell out after all the interviews....

Eagles are rebuilding for at least the next 2-3 seasons. They will bring in a high risk high reward coach for that period and see how it works out. If they hit it out of the park with the coaching hire, then they are good for their competitive years. If not, then at least they have hopefully rebuilt the roster and can hire a new coach to take them to the next stage/phase.

I think they are going to hire a yes man and have Howie control everything for the next 2-3 years. It's going to be a long off-season.

No.

In today's NFL, you should be winning by year 2. If you look at all the successful organizations, they were winning by the second year.
Even Miami that tanked in year 1, won 10 games in year 2 under Flores. We won the SB in year 2.

I was wondering if we’d talk to him. He’s very highly thought of, but since Frank and Doug are boys I wasn’t sure if the guy would have interest here.

Given how wished washy McD has been over the years the Eagles should just continue on unless he comes back to them.

Right before Chip Kelly was hired, people kept on talking about how Gus Bradley was the favorite for the job.
Then we hired Chip.

We may still hire McDaniels, but when it comes to coaches' Howie/Lurie have been able to keep a tight lid on it.

He could accept the job and still not be a lock.

Sirianni has more experience coaching, as a QB and WRs coach, then 3 years as OC, than Smith or Brady.

Great season in 2018 with a healthy Luck and Hilton.
Struggled in 2019 with Brisset at QB, Hilton dinged, Pascal and Rogers as the other WRs, Ebron/Doyle at TE
Then puts together a solid offense with 39 year old Rivers, and a bunch of role players, Hilton at 31, Pascal, Pittman, Burton, Alie-Cox and Doyle at TE. Did have some studs on the OL.

Sounds good to me.

I'm going to be honest they're not hiring anyone until they go through every interview they possibly can. There is no rush right now since we're one of the last two teams. Yeah McDaniels might be the FrontRunner right now but I don't think they're trying to make that decision quick for they would have hired him the other day.

I don't see this all playing out until the Super Bowl
