I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I think a realistic timeline for a rebuild is something like:

Year 1 — bottom 10 record

Year 2 — around .500

Year 3 — 10+ wins

You can have quicker turnarounds, but usually that is with teams that already have a good amount of young talent where a coach comes in and really harnesses it.

It's all about how you get there and less about how many wins you have in the process.

Random example: the Bears that the Eagles beat in the playoffs in 2000 and in 2018...IMO...both teams enjoying quick turnaround success with high win totals, neither with a particularly appealing talent base moving forward.

If you have a young OL, young weapons that seem uncoverable and generate separation, and a young QB that looks like an elite passer....paired with a crap defense...and a team that discovered itself late in year 2 and never even makes it to .500...that's just fine for me in year 2.  If you've got that elite offense, it takes one offseason to turn a crap defense into an average one, which is all you need to compete for a championship.

Building the elite offense takes more time.  2-3 years at best, possibly more.

If the Eagles are venturing down that path, I don't need to put a limit on the timeline.  The problem is that we are 0/3...lack the OL, lack the QB, lack the weapons.  So as far as I'm concerned, that 3 year timeline hasn't even started yet.  We need to find all 3.

For those of you getting your hopes up.

Not that the eagles should hire daboll but the fact breer said he’d would take the call and listen so they did you might as well at least interview him. You’ve interviewed everyone else on the planet. Even if you don’t want him or dislike him at least talk to him and ask him how he was able to improve josh Allen from his rookie year until this year and what they did to help with his accuracy in the interview if your plan is to salvage wentz

Oh good so it is on howie. Thankfully not BWF theory.

Eagles are still interviewing people? They clearly have no idea what the hell they are doing.

Well makes no sense to interview the guy from Indy cause he can’t make a lateral move.

The problem is really that they are in between in certain key positions.  You have Brooks, Kelce and Johnson at the apparent tail ends of career but still above average players.  To rebuild they need to move on from them.  If they keep them, there's no real rebuilding.  If you move on from them, you are risking the health and supposed prime years of who you thought to be an elite QB.  I think they are attached to Wentz this season.  I think they are unlikely to move on from Brooks, Kelce and Johnson this offseason.  So this next season isn't really a rebuild year.  Now they could maximize some assets to get picks.  It could be that they add young talent.  I still think you're looking at least 3 seasons down the road unless Wentz just looks like this past year was an aberration.

I'm sure Joshy and Howie will make a nice couple.

Show me the NFL team that doesn't have "facilities."  Or is that a unique advantage only the Eagles have?  I wasn't aware there are NFL teams that have their players practicing with rusty weights, broken treadmills, and non-airconditioned facilities.

At this point, most teams have good facilities.

Some teams (Jaguars, Bengals) do have bad facilities. So it's more about not being bad than about being good.

I am still of the belief I do not think Jason Kelce is coming back. New coach and a team that’s going to be in a "rebuild”. The issue with Lane Johnson is you can’t get out of that contract. You can’t trade them because it hurts your cap and you can’t cut him. So he’s here whether they wanted to trade him or not. Brooks they can release. Would save them 8.5 mil against the cap. I’m guessing they rather try trading him for a pick instead of outright releasing. I’m guessing he’s here as they probably still think they can still get high level of play out of him for two more years.

I tend to look at what lurie said that they are doing a rebuild but I think they’re going to try to do what Seattle did. When Seattle released all these good players that they had, they didn’t do a complete rebuild. They kind of did what the Flyers did which was they were still competitive but you knew they were also rebuilding the younger core of that team.

It sounds like there are some targets that they had that have said no.  I imagine there are some people with reservations about McDaniels.  I don't care if they talk to a bunch of people.  They will find a coach and we will probably hate him by game 4 next season.

I think it is also possible that they are waiting for one of the remaining playoff teams to bring in an interview or two....

Thats my point. Florida has a superior QB play, better system and better talent around them.

If the kid from Iowa state wasnt the go to guy, and was just another option while playing next to better WR's, better offensive line and a better QB his stats would be the same, if not better because pitts missed games.

Tight ends are starting to remind me of the Running back position. No need to jump and get one.

The difference between the #1 LT prospect and the #5 is a huge drop off.

The Difference between the 1Tight End and the #5 tight end is nothing.

I understand your argument.  I do think you're underestimating the potential Pitts has as an athlete however.  He's a freak.  Watch what Darren Waller did for the Raiders this year.  Look at Kelce still being a dominant force for KC.  I think Pitts is just a weapon.  He can be flexed out as a big WR, play in the slot or inline.

One thing about this draft is that it lacks top end talent.  It's a bad draft to have a high pick.  If they can trade down, the value of his potential is huge in the middle of the 1st IMO.

So basically, Lurie and Howie are going to interview every coordinator in the NFL.

I am guessing there is a reservations for lurie as he likely talks to owners around the league. I’m guessing he talked to irsay and people in the colts organization about what happened. I’m also guessing he’s talked to Kraft and people in the Broncos organization when mcdaniels was in Denver. That’s a lot of different views on mcdaniels. Some good and some bad. We can say whatever we want about other candidates and them having their flaws. Obviously they do but I’m guessing most of the people lurie talks to about them are not gonna have the great varying differences that the mcdaniels info he gets.

I am starting to think they are doing this as a hedge. backup plans in case the new guy fails quick.

I don't know if Kelce comes back.  It looks like Stoutland will stay at this point.  I think that may sway Kelce.  I'd be more swayed by the competitive rebuild approach if they looked competitive last season.

That's possible.  I think they said they wanted to interview Bienemy but Veach/Reid haven't let him interview.

Unless this is a 2013 situation and Lincoln Riley pulls a Chip Kelly move! Quick someone check the Oklahoma airport flights to Philly!!!!

I’m not saying theyre right for doing it. I just think that’s what they’re gonna try to do. I thought it was pretty interesting that Lurie made the comments he did about seattle during the presser. I think he probably looks at seattle staying competitive during their rebuild and believes he can do that here. Whether that’s successful or not I can’t say. I don’t think it’s going to be because I don’t think they have enough young talent or a quarterback like Russell Wilson. Even if wentz was good again i don’t think he’s Russell Wilson outside of 2017

to the flyers credit they were able to stay competitive during that rebuild. However they were able to do that because they were excellent at drafting and developing.

Mosher keeps harping on Riley hasn’t exactly turned down the job or said he’s definitively staying at Oklahoma. Possible they are still talking to him and trying to convince him.
