I haven't decided who my favorite HC candidate is - I keep changing my mind - But one thing for certain - I don't want to change from a 4-3 front to a 3-4. The 3-4 didn't go so well with Chip but I've never like that front. Wondering what the blog thinks???

I want a coordinator who can get the best 11 players on the field for every down and create havoc.  Don't marry yourself to a scheme but scheme around the players you have.  Adapt to the team across the line of scrimmage, pick their weakness and attack it.  Make an opposing team fear the Eagles defense again.  i don't care if it's a 4-3, 3-4, 5-2, 46, 4-4..give me playmakers and guys who strike fear in the other team.  A defense that gets mad if you cross the line of scrimmage.  Think Remember the Titans when Yost challenges the D that they don't gain another yard.  Silly Hollywood reference I know but man I miss a dominant defense.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Philosophically I prefer a 3-4 defense because it’s more aggressive, but that’s only a generic statement.  It depends entirely on the specific DC

The Eagles have trouble fielding 3 competent LBers let alone 4.

I don't think anyone knows anything about Sirianni he doesn't even call plays. To fire Doug for him would be embarrassing because he clearly would not have been their first choice. It would show how flawed their process was.

Are you freaking kidding right now? Philly loves to hate people. A guy like you just described better not lose 1 game

I hate the next coach already.

No issues with being thorough, but the longer this goes on

1) They lose out on staff candidates

2) They start to look like they're doing their "we're smarter than you" stuff again by interviewing 10 times the candidates of everyone else

Why can't we ever just operate like a normal team for once?

There’s nothing abnormal about how this team operates.

By the way everyone, next week Lurie and Howie start interviewing for "run game when heading into the northern endzone” coordinators.

And me the one after ...

Hey maybe the Eagles should hire a female head coach and strike a blow for minority hiring and gender equality.

For all the storyline that Eagles are desperate and interviewing everyone, look at the teams that quickly hired coaches, how many did they interview, how do they know they got the right guy? How much did they learn, how much did they network?

Meanwhile, the Eagles are interviewing numerous candidates with credentials as good as the guys who are already hired, developing a network of contacts, great information about the league, analyses of their own players, etc. And if they're lucky, someone will come in and hit a HR and make their decision for them.

Why do people interview with the Eagles? One, given AR, they know a great interview could get them the job, Eagles have always kept an open mind in this process. But just as important, as anyone who has done a job interview knows, every interview prepares you for the next interview, go in and have them gently tell you that you didn't seem prepared for a question teaches you to do a better job next time.

I could very much get on board with this.

Doesn't even not even call the plays for the Colts?   How would he be any different than Bieniemy?

It's hard to gauge anything with this team right now because it's so lost.

My stance remains that I want someone new. I don't want the next Frank Reich or someone from the Andy tree or anything like that.

Billy Davis. He's a LB coach now for the Cards

IMO we didnt get our first choice, and the laughably long list of interviewees is to say " we conducted a very thorough search. We didnt care about signing the first candidate. We wanted to make sure, we had the right candidate."

Yeah damn him. I’m already mad about having the corners up...

Are we sure he’s not a clone? I’ve seen this movie it’s about a galaxy far far far away

Considering how much you are in base formation in today’s nfl I’m ok with with either. I’d have to look at the numbers but i think the league average for base formation is 30-35%. I rather stick with 4-3 with the players we currently do have but if we are in a rebuild i don’t think it matters cause you are building for the future. However feels like in a 3-4 you have to actually value linebackers.

I would argue that you should value them regardless ... but yeah ... maybe that's the genesis of my bias.

Went well for Marion Campbell with the Eagles.

Its not the system that failed in the Chip era, it was having a crappy coach running it. You can swap to a different system pretty fast in todays NFL. Key is we have a few DEs that would not fit and would have to go. (Graham and Barnett) Some say they wont be back anyways but who knows. Me personally, I dont care if its a 3 man front or a 4 man front. I care who is running that defense and do they know what the hell they are doing.

I actually like him the more i read. I also don’t hate Moore. I actually think Moore did a good job adjusting after the initial hit with dak. It was never going to be great without Dak and he actually got dalton playing competently down the stretch. Last 4 weeks he had 7 tds and 2 ints.

Oh i don’t disagree you should value them. However with howie in charge i don’t see them actually valuing them.

Who among the hirees would have been our first choice?  Meyer? Saleh? Smith is the only one they interviewed and liked, and his resume certainly is no better than say Sirianni.

This wasn't like AR hitting the market because of personal tragedy but a long track record of success, this year is all a bunch of who knows?

Especially given the Dallas OL was almost as beat up as the Eagles OL, though he had much better skill talent.
