So, I have been thinking about the last game for a while now.  I do wonder if the decision on how hard to try for the win wasn’t somewhat governed by how division opponents would be impacted by whether we won or lost.  The two teams in the running have different needs in the draft.  A little voice keeps whispering that the giants, well Gettleman, seem tied to Jones but wasteam seems to realize they need a better answer at QB.  We beat them and they have a better chance of landing one in the draft.  They win, and for the 2020 NFC East title I use that word loosely, and their likelihood of a decent QB deteriorates.  Of course, Howie will prove this little conspiracy theory wrong when he trades down with wasteam for a fourth and an additional sixth. (Wife comes in and asks why I am screaming at the TV again.)

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I’m definitely not a proponent of letting players influence the hiring of a head coach.

I’d be curious who these players are; a lot of the veteran players aren’t going to be around in 2-3 years, especially in a rebuild.

True but it should help to get other teams perspective on how they'd go about the situation

Curious as hell if any of them told Lurie they'd want a new GM lol

I brought it up in my interview with Jeff.   He didn't like that and told me that I needed to open my heart.   I told him he needed to change the locks on the NovaCare to keep Howie out.  I was escorted out by security.  Fortunately, Lurie's security team is headed by Jamon Brown, and I was able to leave untouched as Jamon adjusted his gloves.

Eagles aren't built for a quick turnaround.

QB - ???

OL yes, Dillard, Mailata, Seumalo, Driscoll, Herbig, add a couple OL and you could have a top unit for an extended period.

WR, lots of youth and speed, but need more quality

DL - age

LB - youth, need a blue chipper

CB - need a total rebuild

I disagree.  And you are the optimist of the blog.

QB Wentz and Hurts

OL. Dillard Seumalo Kelce Brooks Johnson with Mailata as swing T and Driscoll to swing into Seumalo’s spot if Kelce retires.  Herbig as depth. Not sure what to make of Toth and Wanogho but retooling is underway and will continue this draft, which is good for IOL

TE Goedert with some potential #2 or #3 Hback, TE types on the roster.  Not a great draft for TE.

RB Sanders ———— Scott. Expect a draft choice for that blank

WR Reagor, Fulgham, Ward, Watkins, Hightower. ( I think JJAW is destined for HBack). Youth.  I think a day three slot may be added.

Bottom line is on offense, we are talking a rebuild

DE Graham but not for long, Barnett, Sweat and Avery.  Not a great draft to add here. Whole lot of green super light edges.  Needs a retool, or rebuild but probably not this year.

DT Cox and Hargrave.  Williams ( who impressed) and McGill.  Needs a retool.  Maybe a draft pick.

LB. A lot depends on the DC.  A lot of depth, talent is questionable.  Taylor, Edwards, Singleton, And even Bradley showed some potential. Some depends on Taylor and if he develops.  Rebuild needed but underway. Expect another LB this year.

S Epps, Wallace. So starting FS is necessary. Intrigued by Riley and Arnold for some potential depth but really as SS.  Retool should continue.  I like the S depth in this draft.

CB Slay (maybe). Big hole at outside CB. Day 1 or 2 draft choice.  Maddox and LeBlanc should be able to cover the nickel.  Rebuild necessary. Good draft for it but we need to be willing to spend early

Can’t fill every hole in a year but the sky isn’t falling quite as bad as suggested by some in here.

Youre writing your book on day 1 of the hire or what?

This franchise needs led out of the wilderness, not a roll of the dice

Its failure of thought process

you dont get out of the wilderness with the same thinking that got you lost there in the first place

I have my grandfather's old hand grinder, which I love, but don't use.  Its just a museum piece for me.  Full of great memories, but I just don't think it cleans as well as I'd prefer it to.

So, I use a grinder attached to my wife's stand mixer.

Those look like the best but for all the toys I have in the kitchen, I have no use for a stand mixer (I don’t bake.  I don’t care much for sweets and I certainly don’t need the calories).  My mom’s was nice because it was hinged so easy to take apart and clean.

Because the majority of those players are going to be out of a job soon.

I wonder if Duce as HC brings Sproles up to RB coach, and McCown as QB coach.

Yikes, this isn't going to end well.  Lurie should absolutely not cave to players on the current roster.    Ultimately, if Lurie doesn't hire Duce then he's going to face backlash for not hiring the black coach.  As progressive and woke as Lurie is he's really going to find out that you can't please the everything is racist mob.

Because I care who a bunch of players who guided us to 4 wins and 75m over the cap want as HC.

Duce can be Mcdaniel's OC.

Everyone blames COVID as the reason the Eagles sucked.  Well, Duce was the HC during training camp because of COVID.

I'm curious about what makes Glenn such an attractive DC hire...I know he lasted in the league for over a decade at corner but I know nothing about what he brings to the table.

Lurie has carved out quite the no-win situation for himself here.  He's seeing what is playing out in Houston too.  Either he risks the situation you mentioned, or he has to hand the reigns over to a career RB coach.

I still say the best compromise is Mcdaniels (or Daboll) with Duce as OC.  Duce still gets a promotion and no one else out there is even interviewing the guy to be an OC.  It's crazy for there to be pressure to make him a HC.

Lurie has a big dilemma now. It should be his decision, not the players. But, McDaniels has a reputation for not having good people skills. So, if Lurie goes with McDaniels and the players can't stand him, it could get really ugly. But, if Lurie goes with Duce and gives the players who they want, then it rewards a team that only won 4 games.

It could be the vets but it also be a big mixture of the young ones too. He's a likeable coach to the players.

I just don't want them to hire from within

Undoubtedly with Doug as OC ......

That would be hilarious if Duce was hired and he told them he wants Doug as the OC.  Although, they would ask him in the interview who he had in mind, so it won't happen.

I'm aware of that but now you have players making it known they are texting the owner....and it's on twitter.  If you don't follow twitter, once the twitter mob gets a hold of a story there's no turning back no matter the facts or what actually happens.

Twitter sees players asking for black coach.  Lurie hires McDaniels.  Twitter sees Lurie not hire black coach.  Twitter mob takes aim at Lurie (no matter what he's done in the past).

Yeah, we got the stand mixer for my wife.  We use it for a lot of things that you might not expect.

with the paddle attachment and the instant pot... we just cooked up some boneless skinless chicken thighs in the instant pot the other night... throw them whole into the stand mixer and about 30 seconds later... instant pulled BBQ chicken.   It is also great with pork shoulders off the smoker for pulled pork.

We also have used it for pizza dough.   The bread machine doesn't really knead well enough, so once that is done with the dough, my wife uses the stand mixer for the last 5-15 minutes of kneading until it can 'window pane'.

And I use it for the grinder attachment.

My wife does also use it for cookies, and other baked goods though.  She made banana bread last night.   ( I can admit that sometimes I intentionally buy more bananas than I know we will eat in the time allotted...  )  But, if space is an issue, it is a monster to store.  We use it at least about 2 times a week, so it lives out on the counter, right next to the coffee maker.

Someone in this organization needs to tell the players to go stand in a corner and shut up.  Maybe Mcdaniels is that guy.

They fired Doug, in part, to protect Wentz.  They won 4 games this year.  Texting the owner to campaign for a HC who was already on the staff?  You should be hopeful you have a job in 2021, not worried about backing one particular HC candidate.  These players are all overpaid, sit out weeks at a time for soft tissue injuries...I value the opinion of the biggest troll on this blog more for the next HC than I do for any player on the team.

I sincerely hope that Lurie is not dumb enough or, more importantly, soft enough to allow a talentless foundation of losers to dictate the next HC because of someone they feel comfortable with.

I would be decidedly uninspired by a RB coach being hired as the Eagles head coach, when Job 1 is to fix the passing game (QB) — whether it be Duce or Bieniemy.

I would try my best to withhold final judgment until I see who the OC and QB coach will be, though.

Id laugh if he was like I’ve convinced Schwartz to come back for another year. Just cause i want to see everyone on here lose it lol

Eskin sounded more of opinion than actual reporting. That's the issue with Eskin's stuff. He kinda puts the information out there as opinion, but states it in a reporting kinda way and people take it as a report.

He didn't concretely report it's down to those two, he never said anyone's been eliminated from the search. That's just his personal feeling on it.

I think Eskin gets information fed to him that the organization wants out there and but I also think he will talk out his ass when given the opportunity.

"That might be the Slack's Hoagie Shack Whack of the Game"   Merrill Reese used to use that one.   And I can honestly say, I never ever ate a single hoagie from them due to that advertising.  I don't even know if they still exist.

I don't think you should give someone a head coaching position as a life time achievment award.  I think the players on this team could use a little more tough love and a little less geez that OK we will get them next week.

So Duce is a push over?

The question besides mcdaniels who are their other top candidates? That really hasn’t been greatly established. Heard Bowles has support in the building, players texting for Duce along with good coaching staff and joe Brady and sirianne both had good staffs. That doesn’t tell me if any are their top candidates

I can bet you Lurie is regretting firing Doug right now, this is a mess, and is going to get messier.
