Idk listening to maaddi talk today, John Clark and Caplan/mosher he’s a top candidate. If he’s the very top unknown. But he’s definitely according to them a guy with Bowles they really like.

Could be.  Certainly drawing out the drama.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Yes

He ran the best ST unit in the league for about 7 years and worked under one of the NFL's greatest coaches.  The 2007 Eagles missed the playoffs, but were no dumpster fire.  That's a bit different from quietly toiling away as a RB coach.

This is bugging the heck out of me with Joe Brady and Sirianni as well, though.

I’ve seen tweets on here saying Brady had "an all-star list” for a coaching staff, and Sirianni an impressive list — but no names even speculated on.

The offensive list includes: Vince Lombardi for OC, Bill Walsh for QB coach and Joe Bugel for OL (Sorry, Stout...).   The defensive list includes: Bud Carson for DC, Dick LeBeau for DBs and George Allen for DL.

How so?  Players can't express who they feel would be a good coach?  Furthermore, it's Lurie who has given them his number and invited them to express their opinions, concerns, gratitude, etc.  What if it is Kelce texting Lurie expressing it?  OK then or just a talentless hack flapping his lips?

I would devalue Kelce's opinion even more than most.  One drunken rant at a parade and an ability to move well at the 2nd level while making calls at the line may make him a legendary fan favorite, but it doesn't make me care who he wants as the next HC.  He literally went on a rant this year about not planning for the future.  The perspective of a player on the way out clinging to 1 more year isn't exactly what this team needs from its next HC.

but i tend to agree. Problem i see is if you dont get your wr round 1 there is very little left to be excited about

Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t complain if we got him. But if we can get a solid prospect to backup Sanders in round 4 I’d much prefer to go that direction. Plus, like you said, WR is a huge need.

Exactly. How are none of the staff they’re going to assemble get some sort of leak. And we have a bunch of different stuff with Josh McDaniels get leaked.

Rob maaddi (works for the AP)actually made a good point on 973 today. He says based off what he’s heard mcdaniels was in the lead but not overwhelming. Says he believes based off what he was told the eagles are waiting for a candidate to blow them away like reid did in his interview back when they hired him.

If they are waiting to be blown away they should just cross off Bowles with a sharpie

I don't care if it's Kelce, Wentz or Lavato.  No player is guaranteed to be here week 1 and to leak it that players are texting the owner favoring 1 coach then it just puts him between a rock and a hard place.

Do you know what they call position coaches on 4-11-1 teams whose HC got fired?  Either interim HC or unemployed.  I think Duce would be so happy to go from RB coach to HC after a 4 win season that he just might let Lowie radio in the play-calls on the sly.

Maybe that's what they meant about a great staff.

I heard Moses had a pretty impressive staff.

Seriously, what the hell does an all-star list mean?  We can make an all-star list too.

Bigger question is who’s going to be the eagles WR coach? Lucky no. 7. 7 WR coaches in 7 years.

I’d rather see Joe Gibbs get an interview than Garrett — and Gibbs is 80

Joe Gibbs... frankly, might actually be the greatest HC in the history of the modern era of the NFL.  3 Super Bowls in a span of about 10 years, with 3 different QBs, 3 different styles of play.   Just an amazing feat, and one that likely will never be matched again.

Maybe we can use the staff to part defensive lines also sanders has holes to run through.... let my sanders go!

The question besides mcdaniels who are their other top candidates? That really hasn’t been greatly established. Heard Bowles has support in the building, players texting for Duce along with good coaching staff and joe Brady and sirianne both had good staffs. That doesn’t tell me if any are their top candidates

Don’t forget mcdaniels for video coordinator...

Yep. If Smith had done so, would he have gotten out of the door? Same with Saleh?

I think their attitude is if no one blows them away, then there's no reason to worry about the "one that got away." Because there ain't a rat's ass of difference between the rest.

Fair enough.  But you have to admit his opinion on the Eagles is more informed and educated than yours.

The problem with Arthur Smith was they were a week behind everyone else in the interviewing process. So by the time they got to that interview, atlanta already made up his mind that they wanted to hire him so they’d have to immediately commit without doing more interviews (maaddi talked about that as well as being a week behind other teams). Waiting the week to fire doug if you wanted someone like Arthur Smith or saleh actually hurt them as other teams were already going into decision making mode or second interviews with them

1. Every boss should listen to their employees, the boots on the ground.  That perspective is important.  Also important for them to understand their opinion is valued.

2. There is a difference between listening and being a pushover.  This isn't the NBA where the players select a coach to cheer from the sidelines in a sharp suit.  Coaches matter in this league.

3.   An underachieving player doesn't know what's good for them or what coach is good for them.  If they had that figured out, they wouldn't be so bad.  An old, established player with 1 year left (or maybe 0) isn't going to be working with the new guy...and if they do, they are going to have vastly different self-interests.

Like I said, the players know enough to be dangerous.  I value their opinion very, very little in this process.  I'd rather a random TATER select the next HC than a random player.

Untrue.  If Kelce wants to return he is guaranteed to be here unless injured.  Same for Cox.  Are you accusing the players of leaking their texts?

HC Al Pacino as Tony D’Amato

DC Denzel Washington as Herman Boone

OC Billy Bob Thornton as Gary Gaines

ST/Analytics Dustin Hoffman as Raymond Babbitt

Just saying I’m guaranteeing if lane Johnson leaked a tweet he’s here week 1. It’s actually more against the cap to release him then to keep hmm.
