IIRC, Doug's contract was due to run through 2022 or 2023... so he's getting paid for a couple years whether he works or not.   If I were him, I'd absolutely take the year and get away from the daily grind for a little.   Maybe see if I can grab a analyst job with one of the networks, apparently, they are just giving those away right now.   He could go over to Nickelodeon and be the new Terry Bradshaw over there for their new sports programming.  He just needs to find a little personality first.
