Well at least I don't have to look at Josh McDaniels ugly face now.

Such a punchable face.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

The Siri Slammer coming to you Sundays this fall

That's good IMO. I liked when Doug was aggressive, I just hated the dumb plays he would actually call in those situations. But these playoffs have shown you gotta have an aggressive mindset in the league now, no more punting from the 50 yard line and in when you have 4th and manageable.

Looks like we got our Big D*ck Nick back

yup...a year of seasoning...get him in and let him grow. Even if he was #20, he could very likely be a name that popped out of all the other interviews. Now it all comes down to the OC/DC, and other positions. Lets hope for some good teachers with good experiences. I agree it would be nice to grab and OC/DC with head coaching experience.

The fact that he worked with 3 different QBs in the last 3 years I see as a major plus, frankly.  Being able to identify and maximize a player's strength has been lacking here for a while... and everyone knows my affinity for Joe Gibbs and his ability to morph to suit his QBs and win 3 Super Bowls with 3 different QBs/styles.   That's impressive like no other feat of coaching.

On paper it seems like an excellent hire.  Not enough is really known about this guy, but the experience and credentials are there.  Hopefully the skill set is too.

I don't think this situation and leadership structure is set up for success, so I don't care who this next head coach is... but I can't fault the hire itself really in any way.  It seemed like it was gonna be McDaniels, and while he has his pluses he would also come with a number of red flags.

I hope this guy has the balls to stand up for himself and what he believes, to properly interpret, evaluate and consume the analytics he will be fed, and to speak the truth to the owner.   Our only hope out of this situation is that somehow, someway, the owner divests himself of the person/people making the franchise crippling decisions and empowers people that know what the hell they are doing on the personnel side.  Only then will a head coach matter in any real sense.

Alright, let’s hope for the best.  May be great, may be bad, who knows?

1 up: Colts fans seem unhappy that he’s leaving.

1 down: As far as I can tell, his only interview was with the Eagles.  So as predicted, the Eagles nabbed someone with no other options.

1 down: I'm just wondering if it is possible for the Eagles to do anything without you finding a way to **** about it???? He had another option - he could have stayed in Indy. I mean, technically by your logic Frank Reich had no other options AND he was only offered the job after McDaniels backed out. And I suppose in your mind the only good hire would be the guy that everyone else wanted. Andy Reid was a good hire - this is just another reason you do a lot of interviews - find the guy that knocks your socks off instead of just hiring the guy that everyone says is going to be great and is "next in line".

Sirianni is a good hire.  Interested to see what he does with his staff. Lynn as OC mentioned above would be intriguing, and assume he (like Doug) would want an experienced guy to turn keys over to on that side of the ball. Hopefully sees enough sense to keep Stout.

QB guys are clearly the modus operandi in HC searches under Lurie. In this respect, I wouldn't discount what he did with Brissett. There are obvious parallels between Hurts' and Brissett's games as much as there is anything to do with salvaging Carson and what he's done working under Reich. Perfectly capable of getting juice out of either, but now let's see it.

You like him more than LR and JMcD because he isn't LR or JMcD.  Or are you going to pretend to know who he was and was thinking about him before this week also?

Come on.  The guy was a safe, uninspiring hire.  If he works out....hey great.  But if we're going to discount JMcD because he didn't interview with anyone else, let's not pretend we got a keeper here.  This reaks of bargain bin shopping.  Maybe you find a treasure.  Odds are you don't.

Youre saying Sirianni is a safe hire?  I dont know man, I think its risky, it could blow up big time if hes not ready to lead an organization with a strong hand.

Lol I'm stealing this

Wouldn't be shocked if Anthony Lynn replaced Duce. If you're Duce, why would you even want to stay here?

Does Lynn have a RB committee?

I think he'll do fine.

Exactly. How many times did we complain the last two years about our coaching not knowing player strengths and maximizing them. Legitimately we had the discussion about reagor all year when he’s running a back shoulder throw and no jet sweeps or crossers or screens with him. We always took like 3 months to understand our personnel

i also love that he likes to get his backs involved in the passing game a lot. Hines and Taylor (as the season went along) were used to exploit defenses. I’m guessing you will see sanders have more opportunities. I’d also bet they likely add a similar skill set to what Hines is to go along with Scott and sanders.

So no Duce as HC and Dawkins as DC?  Maybe we can still get Randall as OC and BMitch as Special Teams Coach.

I particularly would like Seth Joyner as linebacker coach just so he can yell at the team after every loss.

Marlon Mack is a FA this year.  Coming off an injury....maybe Siri can get him here on a cheap prove you're healthy deal.

I like the hire.  Reich history, Colts have creative offense, made Phillip Rivers look good at 39, they are top 10 in run pass ratio, and will run the ball in the second half.

Did you just say run the ball in the 2nd half?!!!  My midnight green heaven.

I can't go back and find your post about Caplan from earlier today but one of the first things he said on their live emergency pod was "I knew early this morning Sirianni was the guy, just couldn't report it because so many things can change until its officail" lol.

Boston Scott is going to touch a ton of balls in the Hines/Woodhead role.

I like Mack but it's an achilles and I feel we need more of a power back to complement Sanders.
