If Big Ben played the Dolphins would be in the playoffs. They’ll give you the excuse well they were resting him for bigger things ahead. It’s another reason I’d have started sudfeld from the start. Could have said didn’t want to get wentz or hurts hurt in the last game of the season and have it be major and go into 2021 season.

I don't remember any of that stuff. Does anyone remember what the context was there and if that's something that's plausible for Wentz? Correct. I believe it's because those specific teams realized that they had elite talents at QB on their hands, and they weren't going to let 1 bad season derail their long-term plans. I barely remember those guys having bad seasons. Big Ben was the product of an incredible defense early in his career, and this also helped his cause. There also wasn't any social media presence for morons to post opinions, reporters and journalists actually reported facts and didn't have as much of an agenda, and fans weren't as quick to jump ship on these players back then. This has created an environment of more impatience, more reactionary firings, and change for the sake of change. Despite having 3rd and 4th string OL, the WORST coaching to player strengths and play-calling I have ever witnessed, and the dumbest decision of all time to draft Jalen Hurts in the 2nd round right after you pay the franchise guy........everyone seems like they're ready to jump ship for Jalen Hurts, a guy that doesn't even have the physical arm ability to be a good QB in this league.

January 5, 20214 yr There are plenty of examples of QBs having down seasons and never getting benched and bouncing back next year.

True but, sitting your star QB so he doesn't get hurt going into the playoffs is a lot more reasonable then benching your back up for your 3rd string QB late in the game. Not saying I give a rats ass about what the eagles did and didn't want them to win just saying what the Steelers did was a normal move for a team in that position. I'm sure the dolphins were disappointed but, knew the circumstances.

The two who werent were drafted in the 2nd round. Its a position that pays to draft early.

Shed all the salary you want that makes your current team worse. Deactivate your starters for the most comically non existent injuries. But play to win the game with whatever guys are left that you do dress. They eagles didn’t do that last part Sunday night. Do I really care or am I outraged? Not at all. But, JMO, that’s where I personally would draw the line with tanking. Jalen Hurts was bad. So, he got pulled and they put in Sudfeld. Sudfeld was worse. oh well. 7 for 20, 72 yards and 1 INT. His last play of the game was putrid. TD was there for him if he had the arm to get it there. Yes, off balance, moving to his left... but Watkins was wide open, a mere 20ish yards away, and he couldn't get the ball even close to him. Then they pulled him. la dee dah.

I read an article about this. They also held onto the coaches to make sure they had stability.
January 5, 20214 yr I wish all the players and coaches who are so upset by this would have cared this much 3 months ago.

Literally before they lost to the bears week 16 they still could lose Lawrence. They were annihilated by the bears. Rested some guys and really just gave up in the second quarter. Meanwhile yesterday when they had nothing to lose anymore were in the game with the colts until the late 4th quarter The Eagles played hard throughout. You think Sudfeld didn't want to perform well? He's about to go to free agency, it was in his best interest to play well. He's just not good. Much ado about nothing quite honestly.

I don’t care i think it’s idiotic. Teams do this all the time especially when their QB is completing 35% of his passes and in quarters 1 and 3 was just 2-15 and had 10 rushing yards.

Could have, but didn't. They got Hurts some reps, then got him out before his confidence took any more hits (or his body). Frankly, he was bad as a passer... but very good as a runner. Hurts did nothing in the game from a passing standpoint to warrant any criticism from anyone for him being pulled. 35% comp pct. less than 4 yards per attempt and an INT. Yes, Sudfeld was worse. Oh well, them's the breaks sometimes.
January 5, 20214 yr F Joe Judge. What a drama queen!! The Eagles did play hard especially on defense. Only thing they really did was put Sunburg in at QB. Not like guys were out there jogging and going half speed.
