Sewell is a beast and a generational talent. I don't think Cincy passes on him. If Eagles were to land him would Howie trade Dillard? I'm not sure. His draft record is already in question. That would just create more noise

Right now, my ‘too-early-to-guess’ guess on what will happen before the Eagles pick at #6:

#1 JAX — Lawrence

#2 NYJ — Fields.  Joe Douglas didn’t draft Darnold, so I think they trade him pre-draft.  The Jets fan base is pissed they missed out on Lawrence; I think they need to save face by drafting the next available option at QB

#3 MIA — I think they try to trade out, but if no one wants to trade into the spot I believe they draft Sewell.  Same rationale that Eagles fans use for drafting Sewell — you draft BPA and move pieces along the OL to fit

#4 ATL — Parsons.  Horrid defense, they need the best available defensive player.

#5 CIN — either Chase or trade back with a team needing a QB

I could not agree more.  All of the angst and indignation directed at Doug for treating the game correctly as a pre-season game.  

If you feel that way, you MUST feel the same way about teams headed to the playoffs resting their starters.  They aren't playing to win!!!!  Disrespecting the game!!!!

What's the difference???  You as a fan get to decide which teams can tank a game and why?  What benefit did the Eagles have in winning?  So many Giants fans are pissed off that their sorry 6-10 team didn't back into the playoffs and it is the Birds fault.  "Because you have a young QB, you need to evaluate him, why not let him compete against a possible playoff team and get a 4th quarter comeback??"  Uhh, because we have seen him compete against better teams, like the Cardinals and Saints.  We also want to see our other QB play.  If he had won last week, and not been completely shut down by Dallas, he would have stayed in there and won the game and the Birds would be in the playoffs.  Maybe he should have completed more than 6 passes and it could have all been different.

If what the Eagles did was so awful... what does that say about the Jaguars??  They tanked multiple games, once the hapless Jets handed them a gift.  "Yeah but they are going for the #1 pick."  So??  Really??  They were resting mostly healthy players and tanking on purpose.  And it was obviously the smart thing to do.

What would the benefit have been for the Eagles to win?  Nothing.  A lower draft pick.  Pushing the most QB needy team in the division up the draft board.  Handing a division win to the Giants.  All for what?

What about the risks?  What would have happened if Hurts tore his ACL in the 4th quarter?  How would that have helped the Eagles moving forward?

There is no logic to what these people are saying.  Tanking games and resting players happens.  What the Eagles did, i.e. treat late season games when you are eliminated as pre-season games, should become the norm, not the exception.  Use the opportunity to develop and evaluate players.  When necessary, lose the games to improve draft position.  Ideally, few team are eliminated before weeks 16-17, so we are only talking about a limited number of games where this situation would occur.

Douglas drafts his qb. Weather it's Wilson or Fields. ATL takes the qb who the Jets pass on

He has already assumed that Brooks will be hurt by midseason and Lane Johnson will never be able to play again.  I hope and pray they are both healthy next year, but part of me anticipates this as well, based on what I've seen the past 3 seasons.

Sewell is tough. You already have Mailata, Dillard, Johnson and to a lesser extent Prince and Driscoll.

My guess is Johnson is not tradable due to cap reasons, Dillard has little trade value and Mailata we’d probably want to keep.  Not sure where Sewell fits in, unless you’d place him at guard, which seems like a waste of resources.
