I have never understood how one league can play with a completely different set of rules. Baseball is dumb.

It actually hurts the Phillies long term if it doesn’t happen. Harper eventually is not going to be able to play the field competently and if they sign realmuto when he gets to 33-35 they likely won’t be an every day catcher anymore and would ideally like to have him as DH when he isn’t catching

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Fiddle about.

I hate the DH, it will just lead baseball further down the Home Run or Bust path

Baseball sucks anymore, you cant even watch it.  There are like 7 balls in play over 4 hours.  Nah Im good

Five minutes of action packed into a three four hour game.

It has been researched and proven that the ball is in play a higher percentage of the time in baseball over football.

Does he somehow know something about our next WR coach?

Well, it is interesting that the passing game coordinator, the OC and the HC all have WR coach in their background. The one year that Wentz looked like a perennial all Pro, he had Groh coaching the WRs.  That and his revolving door of WR coaches makes you wonder if Howie and Lurie felt that the problem wasn’t Wentz or Hurts, it was the approach on routes.  Given that JJAW quote about learning all the routes, Sirianni sounds like the opposite.

I've been a long time lurker and appreciator of "the blog." Going back to douglas704 days. I understand now that without a much greater investment of time and energy my occasional efforts to contribute to the discussion are not appreciated. And I don't mean this in a wimpering "woe is me" way. I really do get that this community needs ways of moderating who is in and who is out to keep the discussion at a certain level. Basic sociology. All good. Just maybe reflect on whether calling everyone you're unfamiliar with a "clone" of someone else you don't like is really the best way. Or maybe just carry on as you were.

I'll go back to lurking and liking now.

There are 'glass half full' people and 'glass half empty' people. I view Jalen Hurts as a positive. The team will now have a good QB regardless of whatever drama unfolds with Wentz(I just saw a headline he's still unhappy -he's unhappy? Really?.). The Howie-haters will cabbage patch on this, but for no logical reasons.

https://sportsnaut.com/philadelphia-eagles-rumors-carson-wentz-latest/

Jalen Hurts only adds to our team's potential. If the Eagles lost money, they lost money. You have to take Jalen Hurts out of the handwringing process. If you show you're a stud and ball out, this team will only benefit by helping you. If you underperform, the team can only do so much for you.

The team should draft a QB for insurance. And don't kid yourself, insurance is a GOOD thing ALWAYS. We play to win ALWAYS and not simply to avoid losing. And we certainly don't manage the team to avoid losing the support of our star player(s) who get paid and underperform. The support is either there or it's not. Part of the reason we pay them so much is FOR that undying support that we can only hope will rub off on the lesser-paid players,

Will he all of a sudden inherit the minimum amount of arm strength necessary to become a successful NFL QB in the offseason?  Because he's never had that.

This wasn't any long John Wayne windup either with lots of time(where he gets sacked from across the field). Hurts cycled that pass like an M4 carbine on the run.

So who knew when John Entwistle wrote that song that he may have been singing about Pete Townsend.  Still the greatest rhythm section in rock history.

Given the number of RBs/WRs/TEs who weren't high picks had success under our new coaches, I'm looking forward with what they can do with our current roster, as well as the additions they make. I don't buy we'll just draft someone at #6 and he'll rejuvenate the passing attack, most of your yardage leaders were drafted outside the 1st rd, many outside the top 50 picks. And if you have one star and a bunch of useless scrubs, a DC will double your star and dare your scrubs to beat him.

It's not like they're gonna turn JJAW into an allstar, but they might figure out how to use him as a WR/H-back hybrid and give him routes and matchups where he can succeed.

They might take advantage of Watkins quickness, Reagor's ability to separate, teach Hightower how to high point and track a deep pass, and so on.

It's not like you have to hit on everyone, hit on one or two, and just as important, identify a few things the other guys can do to be successful, maybe make Burnett a serviceable 4th WR.

The more players you can develop into just solid role players, the more options you have designing plays.

Nah, I heard they did something to shorten games.  I cannot say it worked because I keep falling asleep.

That’s where I get baffled by all the "they didn’t just draft Hurts to be a backup” talk — of course they did.  It was quite apparent he had really good mobility, good leadership skills, but limited arm talent

It could be an eagles situation later when they bring him back like Jordan matthews.

Was the RB coach with the Chargers. I had wondered if he might replace Peelle.

Would’ve been a better fit if we got Alfredo to go along with sirianni

While that throw to Desean was nice, it didn't really prove anything.  Show me the 30 yard laser he throws to the sidelines on a rope from the pocket.  He can't.  And if he lacks the arm strength, then his decision making needs to be impeccable.  It's not fair enough to only judge him on his decision making in only 4 games, but color me pessimistic that I don't think it will ever be adequate.
