I can't believe everyone is so down on the idea of taking Parsons at 6.

We have a new defensive coordinator, a new head coach, an overwhelming glaring need for a stud linebacker, and instead we're talking about the virtues of taking a 4th OT or another WR.

I mean there’s been reports of character and off the field concerns. I’m guessing with the eagles not valuing LB to take one at 6 let alone on a guy which has been reported in the blog with tweets that he’s got big red flags with character.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Penn State LBs stink.

Devin White had the same ish and it didn't seem to hurt him at all.

Not him.  Dude's a flat out beast and is the kind of player you can build your entire defense around.

When you have to praise a player like Singleton as your best linebacker, you have bigger problems than you think.

Devin white also got drafted by a team that values linebackers

Helluva sixth-round pick.

WTF, when did KC sign Wanogho?  With Fisher down, this is a surprise.  Eagles should still sign him to a futures contract.  Not convinced he can’t become a backup swing tackle. The fact KC grabbed him rather than going future contract suggests some hope.  The fact KC let him go with Fisher with an Achilles diminishes that a bit.

Will Parsons make us that much better? I don't think so.

They signed him about a week ago.

Offseason Countdown:

Senior Bowl- 4 days
Super Bowl- 13 days
NFL Free Agency- 50 days
NFL Draft- 94 days

It’s gonna be a long three months.

Nah.  I like the time to review taped games, find more on the inter web and put together a board.  Crossing fingers for some sort of combine.  Senior bowl practice starts tomorrow. In the meantime trying to figure out our new O and D to target players.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens to some of the recent draft picks with a whole new coaching staff — players like Davion Taylor, K’Von Wallace and JJAW for instance.  I feel like Wallace should get a chance to start.  Taylor is likely a ST stalwart at best, and JJAW gets cut in training camp.

Stoutland being retained means Dillard, Driscoll, and Mailata will continue to develop. I feel like Maddox needs to be the nickel CB or replaced.  WR feels like an empty cupboard, and a position that has to be a Day 1 or 2 draft pick.

Unless he can slide inside his rookie year, I wouldn't justify taking another T in round 1.  With the development of Mailata and the investment made in Dillard (trading up in the 1st), I personally would be livid if they drafted another LT at 6.  And personally, I'd hope he can maybe switch to RT and take over for Lane when he's officially done forever or we trade him.

It’s ok to have a few good veterans even in a REBUILD, T’s can play for awhile. Not sure why he waited so long to have the corrective surgery I guess he didn’t think there was going to be a season. I’d be looking for Kelce and Brooks replacements as more of a priority, Brooks because he has a hard time finishing a season ... now even starting one. They say that relatively speaking this is a very strong year     for OL, the 3 tackles look good. They said QB’s even more so, go figure ... we got too much invested there in both draft picks and cap

His ceiling is high and I loved the pick. But any pick at 6 is more likely to be a sure thing.

Look how far he’s come and then imagine in another 2 years, as athletic as he is he should beast

Dillard starting doesn’t exactly defend not going LT at pick 6.

Mailata looked decent compared to Pryor but that’s about it.

I’m with you at WR but using Dillard and/or Mailata as the reason LT shouldn’t be addressed isn’t a very good reason. That’s all I’m saying

Whatever Jeff thinks ... as in Stoutland not Lowie. He’d have the best guess. That would be terrible to miss on a 1st rounder and  top it all off with Wentz’s potentially short life here aye yay yay major setbacks if

If we presume Gannon runs something similar to what he’s been in, Mills is likely done here and I don’t feel great about Wallace anymore. It also would suck that we would possibly play in a scheme that plays to the strength of an ex corner like Douglas.

Mailata was fine last year, and he's only 23, an age of a lot of rookie and 2nd year OL.

He still needs a lot of work on technique, but hopefully he'll have a full offseason with Stoutland and a full exhibition season to work on his game. However, he might be the strongest OL in the NFL, it's like watching a bigger version of Peters in his prime, when he gets his arms extended on a run block, he can literally block half the DL (on a couple plays he just pushed the DE into the DL and took them both out of the play). As a pass blocker, his footwork needs work, but he's so long it's like vintage Tra on steroids, and he recovers well.

That being said, the next couple drafts will be BPA or trade down, there's no reason for this team to worry about positions right now. That's a luxury for 12-4 teams picking in the 20s looking to fill a hole or two for a SB run. If Sewell is the BPA, draft him and worry about who plays where in TC.

Is Sewell clearly better than Slater and my new guy Darrisaw ? If Sewell is there I think I would trade back but even then if Dillard is truly still 1st round worthy then I’d be figuring out how to turn that pick into good replacements for Kelce and Brooks. In other words T, we might be good there with Dillard, Mailata, Lane and Driscoll for a couple more years, let Stoutland hash that out

No shot dallas trades no. 10 overall and cooper/Gallup. But if they did I’d laugh

Lane Johnson is tradable in 2022, but untradable this off-season. The good news is that he'll be motivated for 2021, given his 2020. He also gets Stoutland back, so that should be easier for him to hit the ground running.

As of right now, I'm leaning towards extending Mailata and trading Dillard. With Stoutland back, I would be surprised if he preferred Dillard to Mailata.

For a 1st ? Sure, otherwise give him this season. Too many L’s and I’ll join in the chorus

Then let me help you- In the blog we talk about/debate the actual game of football as it pertains to the Eagles. We talk about players abilities, Coaches abilities, game plans etc...based on merits and ability. Sometimes the conversation sways or veers into other topics, however:

When it comes to social issues/Political opinions/religious debates, most times, when they are brought up, those in the blog point those posters to the CVON section of the EMB, where people go to argue about the social ills of the world.

That’s not true, there is slant in here that you seem oblivious to or maybe if it’s a bias in your direction your ok with. There is CVON and socio/political discussion should be discussed there but if some wants to go off inappropriately here with there personal opinion rants, I’ll give then the what for and rightfully so. Don’t be so naive to the blatant and sometimes subtle remarks here, I’m not. Just talk football, Rooney rule is an attempt to level the playing field so at least they’re trying, gets minorities feet in the doors and who knows

If Gannon sticks with what he knows, would love to grab one of CBs Eric Stokes or Rodarius Williams.

Or both with some 1st round trade downs!

Empty words is right. I don’t think it was his call that Reagor only sprinkled in as punt returner, and he said nice things about Ward to the press because he was defending his player. I think you’re making too much of those comments.

If the ST coach is not in charge of who is back for a kick, then whats his real purpose?

Duce was in charge of RB rotation, but Fipp wasnt in charge of punt returner?

Those comments were to defend the decision to put Ward back there constantly.  If it wasnt Fipp's decision, then he shouldn't have said that Ward makes the best decisions.  It was all lies.

7 hours ago, eagle45 said:

I'm not sure how harsh I can get on Fipp.

To say that Desean is made of glass would be an insult to the durability of glass.  Reagor was a turnover waiting to happen.  Every punt is a coin toss if he catches it or if the ball hits the turf.

They were frantically trying to coach up both Hightower and Watkins to contribute at WR out of desperation...and both clearly looked overloaded.  KOR...you might be able to argue for one of these two.

They didn't really have many personnel options better than a fair catcher in Ward.

The idea that a guy who caught punts in college cant be used to catch punts in the pros without intensive training is insanity to me.  Punt returner, once you've done for a while, it is just instinct to a certain extent.  And yes, the turnover possibility exists, except Reagor never actually turned the ball over as a returner.  Let him fail before removing him.  We let others fail... and fail repeatedly with limited, if any, repercussions.

I think y'all will be pleasantly surprised by the drafts the next two years.

It will be much easier to draft with a HC/OC/DC who are on the same page, I think Doug and Schwartz lived on separate Islands, and both were focus on a win now strategy.

Now the focus will be more consistent, you're rebuilding, you're looking more at BPA (but in the context of your schemes or why  Donald dropped to the 4th rd, partially b/c his size and skills meant he only had value to a one gap, 4-3 team, and that limited the number of teams willing to draft him), and at upside (winning next season is not a priority). So there will be less disconnect between the scouts and coaches - the arguments won't be what the team needs this year v the future, but who is the best fit for the future.

Any chance you can try to scape goat those that are gone anymore?   So, Howie wasnt equally on his own 3rd island?  He wasnt the one trading for guys who couldnt get on the field?  He wasnt drafting guys that couldnt play?  He wasn't signing old players to big money?

Howie is completely innocent, eh?

It’s funny how he gets defended.

But he’s just getting the players the coaches want!!

News flash: That’s not a GM. That’s a glorified gopher. A secretary. And if Howie actually is making good evaluations...a brief pause so we can all laugh...but he’s still deferring to the coaches’ bad choices, then he has no backbone. There really is no viable defense of Howie.

I'm all for progression, but it's funny that everyone wants to talk about the lack of minority head coaching hires, but not talk about the 3 black GMs that have been hired this cycle. It just goes to show the dynamic at work with this kind of thinking.

Because people like the bish about negative stuff.
