Doug was not a victim.  But he was certainly not the only one to blame.  Howie's gross mismanagement is as much, if not more, to blame.  But here we are, another year with Howie in the same position.

Oh yeah, Howie has got to go as the GM.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I’m not going to lie.  I am not excited. I like the hires but at the end of the day FO structure and Howie is a problem.

Howie is a problem, but I'm still excited for the new coaching staff

Has there been word about a Siri presser?  You would have thought they had one yesterday when he was in the building surrounded by photographers and Eagles staff.

Flyers are gonna be good.

Spring training is probably a month or so away.

Weathers gonna get better to break out the sticks.

It'll be good

Flyers aren't good and won't be.  No team speed, outside of Coots no true top end players.  Going to be tough sledding for them

We call this a hoagie mouth hot take.

Missing a selke winning and probably mvp conversation guy in coots

Missing a top 4 defensemen with Myers

Missing Morgan Frost.

They have there 4th line center getting 2nd line time right now. I doubt there going to the Cup but They'll make the playoffs. They'll probably make a nice little run. So do say they "arent good" is laughable.

The playoffs were not a mirage, they were foreshadowing.   Frost didn't even crack the original line up so missing him means nothing.  To think they are good is laughable.  Just watch as they finish near the bottom of this division.   Not enough talent and since Hockey is my favorite sport and the Flyers my true sports crush, it is painful to acknowledge, but this team is just poorly constructed for the current NHL.

They’re out two of their top four defensemen, their best centermen and their top center prospect. I’d say most teams would struggle if that were the case...

Well he certainly is aware of his critics if he doesn't want his weight to be known.

If Gannon is on Ballard’s team arm length.

He could be using the time to bulk up for the Bama pro day.

Ah man player x has shorter than average arms better drop him two rounds

I'm starting to question if Hart is going to be great or if it mostly hype.  I see the talent but he doesn't do it consistently enough yet.  I know goaltenders take time to become great and he is still young but will he be a top 5-7 goalie in the next couple years?

Frost wasnt in the line up cause AV has a weird crush on Raffl and was the first call up with out hesitation, and after injuries and everything goes back to normal he'll be in the lineup each night.

Depending how the seedings shake out in the east(we dont match up well against the bruins) I would expect a 2nd round exit. Could be first if we get the B's first round could be 3rd if we some how avoid them. The only team in the east outside of the B's that scares me is the islanders(again bad match up)

Raffl is currently better than Frost.  The guy to sit when Frost returns is NAK and move Laughton to wing with Frost centering that 4th line and that is only a maybe.. Islanders, Caps, Penguins, Bruins,- are all better.  NJ and Buffalo are equal or better.  That leaves the Rangers.  Since only the top 4 teams get in, playoffs will be tough to manage.

They had all that in the playoffs.  Shane is not a top 4 D but will be forced to play that role.  Frost could be good but needs both seasoning and strength and to improve his defense.  He is nice in the offensive zone with some space but needs to improve with bodies on him which, of course, is the NHL game.

Not sure when it happened, but Ive noticed TDN now has Farley ranked above Surtain.

Looser hips and almost as good technique.  I have them graded almost equally but scheme and only telecast film isn’t great to grade CBs.  Plus teams did not throw a lot against either of them.  Do you think CBS, Walters, TDN or any of those websites get the All 22 and study it on all the players?

I'm of the thought that a great safety has more impact these days than a great CB. You can avoid a great CB but a guy like Dawkins can impact both your run game and your pass game.

I think he may already be a top 7 goalie. 6 to 10 range for sure.

Based on what?  If you look at his stats from the start of last year until current day, he is 21st in GAA and 40th in save percentage.

Yes there was a few articles I think last year that highlighted having two really good safeties was much better for defenses than 2 really good corners. Let me try and find them

Disagree. A great CB could take away a great WR.

Neither secondary position is that valuable in today’s NFL but I’d go great cb over great safety. If I’m scouting a safety I’m just looking to make sure he doesn’t get beat over the top and doesn’t miss tackles. McLeod is a good example of that.

I don’t necessarily fault anyone for missing on a sixth-round pick, but I’d hope any sixth round pick would be good enough to last on an expanded practice squad or be signed to a futures deal.

We will soon see if he gets offered a futures contract.

Unless they are playing the Islanders.

Yup. Reich made room for Groh by moving Patullo pass game analyst.

So why was Patullo available for a lateral move?

Well, duh!

The idea that Lowie are some kind of monster that want to control everything is more a product of Doug's incompetence as a HC.

AR got control until he imploded, Chip had control until he imploded, Doug could have had control if he knew what to do with it.

I'm sure the reason for those long interviews is Lowie didn't want to interfere, but that meant they wanted a new HC with a plan, and one that made sense. Not just throw names out there, but explain why you wanted certain people, that is, if you can't explain why, you probably don't know what your doing. It's not just "I worked with this guy," but "I like his approach, and here's why I think it'll work." And given these schemes, here are the players on the current roster I think might be keepers.

If McDaniels was considering replacing Stoutland as has been rumoured, well, that would have been a deal killer to me.

I also think the problem with Doug and Wentz may have been that Doug wanted to run a scheme ill-suited to Wentz's skill set, and Wentz rebelled. Doug's success with the RPO under Foles may well have been behind the drafting of Hurts (I'd say Hurts' arm strength is similar to Foles, and Hurts is far more mobile). But Wentz has always looked uncomfortable running the RPO, and with Reich gone, there was no one to tell Doug it was a bad fit. Wentz is a conventional pocket QB (so was Reich).

Only if he follows him around, which then distorts your defense, and allows the OC to utilize rub routes, etc.

McLeod is a serviceable safety, but he doesn't impact games. More like Mikell than Dawkins.

What are you talking about?  They have plenty of speed.  They are just not good on defense and I think they need to move on from G, JVR and Voracek.  But they have plenty of young, quick forwards.

I said it in the Flyers thread the other night.  He's slightly overrated.

He may be overrated but an overrated Hart is the best this team has had in some time.  Still super young and he should still make strides.
