I’m not one to defend the Eagles too much, but this is football, not the presidential cabinet.

If you haven’t figured most of this out by 33-35, you should probably be doing something else.  That’s plenty of experience.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Wow, a coach I am familiar with.  Was QB coach and OC at UH the year after Tom Hermann left.  His quarterback?  Greg Ward.  (Eagles probably listened to his recommendation just to piss off the Ward haters in here.)

He lit it up at Baytown Lee at QB.  We hoped he might come to UH.  Had success at Utah as a player.

Not an NFL QB but did play QB so maybe Wentz will listen to him.

Could be a good hire.

Yup winningest qb in UTE history, took over for Alex Smith, played his first game at the age of 17 and was coaching with Utes at 22, coached with Dennis Erickson when he was the OC at Utah, they ran a west coast offense.

Johnson is in his early 30s but has been coaching for over ten years in the college ranks and worked with DAk and Ward.

And recruited hurts.

If Wentz doesn't take to coaching from johnson then I'd say the issue is Wentz in coachability not the coaches ability.

You teach fundamentals, which most college players lack to some extent. Look at what Stoutland does with his players, you want that kind of coaching at every position.

How to set your feet, beat the press, run precise routes, snatch with your hands, use your body to shield the throw, etc. etc.

Attention to detail, repetition, correction, repetition. And just as important, identify the ones who can't or won't learn, the scrubs you cut, the high profile players you trade before the league catches on.

And... Stoutland teaches Xs and Os as the run game coordinator.  Its not an either/or proposition, its both/and.

You need position coaches that can work on the fundamentals AND communciate the X's and O's.  And you need coordinators that are absolutely strong on the X's and O's.  To suggest otherwise is foolish.

Moves like this are why we have the Rooney Rule. I'm shocked.

Surprised this wasn't posted. I remember the Ray Rice situation was discussed in here

He should be banned

I dont understand how this illustrates why the Rooney rule is in place?

Culley is a minority candidate.

I'm sure that won't appease the outrage mob though. They'll just move the goalposts and then it'll be they didn't hire the "right minority candidate" and are discriminating against Bieniemy.

I can't imagine that the Texans are about to lose Deshaun Watson and their answer is "let's hire the passing game coordinator of one of the worst passing offenses in the NFL".

If I’m the owner I’m already fielding trade offers for the guy who thinks he can mandate who I hire as GM

I bet Texans fans want B.O.B. back

"Let’s hire the guy whose position group had no receiving touchdowns in 2014”

Johnson is a good hire as QB coach.

He was a low talent high success college qb whose team instantly gave him a pretty big coaching job upon graduation.

The HC and OC are NFL guys, so that’s covered.  Bringing in a college guy at least gets our finger on the pulse of the talent and changes trickling up that pipeline in the coming years.

Not to mention, our qb has the fit and finish of a college qb.  And his not-to-far-away replacement will be coming right out of college.  So Johnson will be uniquely patient in building from the ground up here.

This also helps put out some of Lurie’s minority coaching fires.  These days, the QB coach is a more important and more powerful job than DC. He’s practically one of the big 3 on the team, especially considering the Wentz project and future top 5 pick they’ll make at the position.

The Philadelphia "at least we’re not the Texans” Eagles

This is where character and red flags can matter heard he had an incident in college with police like punching out walls and windows or something.

I mean that might not be as bad as the texans offense having now touchdowns if watson is dealt lol

Who was the coach that roamed our sidelines with the big wad of gum?

Is Jim Caldwell retarded or something?  Did he kill somebody’s dog for F sakes or is it he doesn’t want to be a head coach again?

9-7 with Detroit and gets fired, the owners realize 9-7 with Detroit, is the equivalent of the the Pats going 13-3.

So reading up on Brian Johnson... That’s an exciting hire. Kinda surprising no one else snatched him first.

It’s gonna come out that Culley is a member of the same mega church as Easterby or something.

This is just a wild arse choice.

Lol

I think his health issues scare people off. He couldn’t even go a year with the Dolphins without stepping away.

Anyone know if this is accurate?

I went to the guy Tony Pauline's profile but didn't see anything regarding Ertz

Interesting that the Texans were hell-bent on hiring a black head coach and still passed over Bieniemy.
