Wow.  What a win.  Would have been an ugly loss.  Great clutch shot by Tobias Harris.

Was really dicey at the end but a win is a win especially against the champs. Still best record in the East as well, I'll take it.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Sorry man. It’s never easy. Try to find solace in he was loved everyday and had a good life.

That might have been the final nail in Howies coffin. Probably not, but extending a guy with two years left and paying him more to drop off a cliff? Yikes.

What do these things have in common...

Desean Jackson, Alshon Jeffery, Brandon Brooks, Lane Johnson...

All were extended with 2 full years left to run on their existing contracts all were injured the next year...  at least the Zach Ertz deal was turned down.  The issue is that Howie has been extending far too many aging players for too long now.  Its exactly the opposite of what Banner did where everyone was pretty much persona non grata after 30.  Why can't the Eagles find a middle ground?

Condolences. I'm a big dog lover and I get really attached to mine so when they go it hits me really hard. One time I even received a very nice wooden cremation box from the vet because I was bawling my eyes out

They can never just do the simple things. It’s either extend early and get players disgruntled or extend late and get burnt. Hire a single OC or hire 10 coaches who are supposed to somehow come up with a single offense. And now it’s hire a ton of old coaches vs hire anyone as long as they are 40 or under.

Culley was pretty bad as our WR coach.  Bienemy has a legit complaint for Culley to get a job before him.   The Texans are a mess.  JJ Watt and Watson should get out of there.

A bottom-three team with minimal draft picks and a franchise QB who desperately wants out hired a 65-year-old first-time HC. Just weird.

I dont understand the hire.  Then again I didn't understand the Pederson hire either.

Think I'd rather have Josh McCown as HC than Culley....and I dont think much of McCown as a coach.

I can't see their players buying in.

Frankly what good players are they going to have left. Watson likely to get dealt. I’m guessing watt is also likely to be dealt. Wouldnt be surprised if cooks asks to be dealt or they try to trade him. Fuller is a FA. Their best player at that point might just be tunsil lol

Ravens reddit has Culley is gone! celebratory threads. They're thrilled he's gone and that they got draft picks to boot.

Really sorry about that.  I've been there myself and it sucks.  Mine was 14yo.  Still have her ashes in a nice engraved urn.

Jeffery wasn’t an aging player when extended. Extended to 31 was a bit of a risk but not huge.  Conversion with guaranteed salary was a huge error.   Brooks and Lane are not old for OL.  Arguably Howie was trying to lock in Brooks and Lane for their final years.  A risk but not huge.  What age do you cut off retaining OL? Other positions?  Now Jackson, that was a huge risk.  I do think for a lot of positions, Howie needs to reevaluate 30.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've been down that road before and it's heartbreaking. Keep your head up.

Sorry man, I have had to do this a couple times in my life, nothing is harder.

I think with the increased speed of the game, you have to lower the age at "speed" positions, and start signing guys to one year deals as patches. All the WR yardage leaders were 28 or younger, and I think you'd probably find a similar peak on the CB side (safeties can compensate with instincts). Same with speed rushers on the defense. Older WRs tend to be more role players these days.

On the other hand Whitworth was playing at a high level at 34-36 and started every game until 38.  Peters played at a high level through 34, and still started 16 games at 36.

So it's not unreasonable to expect Brooks to be a top guard into his early 30s, same with Lane.

Cox is no longer a dominant pass rusher and is overpaid, but will be a solid DT for a few more years.

I think one trick will be to let your players walk rather than give them big money extensions past their expected expiration date, then take the money and sign either younger veterans entering their peak years or older veterans to 2-3 year deals at a big discount. What you don't want to do is extend someone at 29-30 at a rate based on their past performance.
