A QB coach hire is not a long term addition, so you don't base long term decisions around it.  The talk around Brian Johnson, is that he is a hot name and could be an OC somewhere else rather quickly.  So the assertion that we hired him just because of his relationship with Hurts is silly.  That would suggest Hurts was in on the decision to hire Johnson or Johnson was promised Hurts would be the starter in order to convince him to take the job.  Both are ridiculous.  This is the media speculating and being conspiracy theorists.  The Eagles are to blame, for simply not allowing Siriani to have his press conference by now, for allowing these ridiculous theories to be created.

They need to come out and say....Carson is their guy....period.  Even if they do plan on trading him.  Anything else just hurts his trade value........

Clearly, my sarcastic tone didn't play through in the original post.  I agree 100%.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Is there anyone on here that understands the stock market that can explain this mess that's happening?

so there are Hedge Funds, and people who manage those funds. Basically they borrow stock they believe will drop in price, often times telling the public this stock will drop, helping to create a price drop. One Hedge fund manager did this on Gamestop, they came out publicly telling everyone they are selling stock and forecasting it will drop. So they borrow stock to sell it, and once the stock drops, buy it back at a lower price, pocketing the profit.

A bunch of reddit users, gamed them by buying the stock, causing the price to go up. When that happens the hedge fund managers now have to give back the stock they borrowed or buy it from at current value to those they borrowed it from. Problem is, it is now worth much more than what they sold it for, so the hedge fund managers lost billions doing this.

And regular joes on Reddit cashed in.

6 billion lost so far ,hedge funds need to liquidate some of their longs to cover.

I meant those coaches in particular. They hired coaches to appease Watson but if he's not going to be there then they should have went with who they wanted

Bullying? They've basically sabotaged the guy's career, I have no issue with him demanding a trade. The owners don't actually care about their players, don't fool yourself. He's gotta look out for #1.

But when reports came out that Wentz wanted a trade he's a crybaby and every other insult in the book

I think Vikas has explained it all in here

The bigger issue with these stocks like Gamestop, now the price is artificially inflated, there has to be a price correction at some point in the future. They created a stock price bubble and it will burst at some point. So unless you bought low and sold it off high, you are likely to lose most of what you believe is gained if you hold onto it.  But if they start selling it off, the price will start dropping immediately.

Ive been waiting for all the "Deshaun Watson is being a baby" and "Watson is dividing the locker room" hot takes but I guess its OK for him

That's why it's called trading not investing ,dont do it if you dont understand the risk.

Your problem is the Bolded.

They purposely try to create drama, so people will get riled up and tune in/call in. It's a soap opera setting for sports fans. All so they can make money. Much like most ESPN shows now. It's all hot takes. No offense, but it's too low brow for me, and I am a low brow humor type of guy.

I dont subscribe to any of it. The one lone Bastian that still has some credibility in regards to sports talk radio and the NFL is the NFL channel on sirius. Mostly- that talk is just about the game, it's not about selling the drama, though there are still a few idiots on there that try.

But people fall for that kind of "entertainment" all the time.

The sports talk programming is like the Bravo network at this point.

When people think they know more than experts who do something for a living and then act on it, the results are usually entertaining.

Just seen the Breaking News that Deshaun Watson asks to be traded.

Didnt he do that like 2 weeks ago?

McMullen is just late to the party.

And Texans don't have a choice. They have to hire someone and no one really wants that job especially with the mess they currently are. They probably are just trying to hope it all works itself out with Watson.

Experts? They were taking behind the wood shed ...they needed a ban on buying heavily shorted stocks, to stop the bleeding.

We have to have the youngest staff in football. I wonder how we’d compare to college programs.

Well it is obvious that Howie heard our cries that the team needed to get younger.

I wonder if the job was offered to Eberflus or Joe Brady.

Kid definitely has moves to get open in the NFL, and plenty of speed.  If Sewell is available at 6, would look at this kid in round 2.  And, now we have a Florida connection.

I like Kadarius Toney. Only knock on him is his size.

If I was either of them or even Bieniemy, I would make it very clear that I am not interested. It makes no sense to commit career suicide going to a complete mess that has no draft picks, has terrible ownership, franchise QB wants out and has Easterby in a prominent role. Getting a HC gig could be a one time chance for these guys, it makes sense to turn them down and be top candidates next year.

Sorry to hear. As I've said to my wife many times: Sooner or later they break your heart.

It's true.   I forget which comedian said it... but he said that getting a pet is like buying a minor tragedy.   It's coming eventually.

But, I wouldn't trade it for anything.   I have a 5 year old labradoodle...(Today is her birthday) and I have to say, that there's so much joy in owning her.  She's a part of every part of our life and we wouldn't want it any other way.   But, we know that eventually, that joy will turn to sorrow for a period of time.  But, in the end, even that sorrow turns back to joy as we remember all the great times we had together.

C.S. Lewis put it best, I think:

Jack Lewis: Why love if losing hurt so much. I have no answers anymore, only the life I have lived. Twice in that life I have been given the choice. As a boy and as a man. The boy chose safety, the man chooses suffering. The pain now is part of the happiness then. That's the deal.

Oh good, he drops a perfect ball... seems an ideal fit here.

I kid....

or do I?

Some guy on the athletic said it last night, Bo Wulf was the first local guy on it who cited him. He's the only one linked so far to the position, although the Rooney Rule still applies, so who knows. His resume isn't very impressive.

Bunch of hedge fund managers have been shorting some struggling stocks.  Shorts have a due date.   Basically the hedge funds borrow stock, sell it while betting that the stock will go down so they can repurchase stocks when the price goes down and return them.  They pocket the difference of the original sale price versus the repurchase price.  If they bet wrong, they have to repurchase the stocks at a higher price.  (Think Trading Spaces.). A group of traders noticed a bunch of shorts, drove the price up so the hedge funds would have to buy the stock back at a higher price thus this other group screwed the funds.  Analysts hate it because there were no fundamentals involved.  The companies of the stocks manipulated are still in trouble. Supposedly a David v Goliath move but in truth both sides act like jackasses.  Most people invest like the invest in a home.  Pick a company with a sound foundation and good business plan that will lead it to accumulate value measured by it Price to Earnings ratio.

There are kids on reddit who are worth millions because of their positions in GME.
