  • Miles Sanders greatly improved as a rookie. He was running into linemen/fumbling to start the year and finished strong
  • Corey Clement went from UDFA to pass-catching back in the playoffs. We don't win the SB without him
  • Ajayi was able to integrate into offense at the trade deadline
  • Turned Josh Adams into a functional rusher
  • LeSean McCoy's best years were with Duce

I had lots of complaints about our coaching, but RBs weren't one of them

You greatly overestimate Josh Adams... dramatically.  He was awful.  The only reason he was "functional" was because of how good the OL was.  But even then, he consistently took the wrong holes and bounced way too much outside, especially for a guy with extremely questionable speed to get to the edge.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

The problem with that chart is what is a consistent starter? Are they any good? How many are starting because of pedigree and investment?

How many are starting by default on a terrible team?  How many are starting for no apparent reason... Nate Gerry-style?

That's any chart

I don't like "rounds", when I analyzed it a few years ago it's more like tranches.

1-20 (really 1-10, 11-20)

21-40, odds start to flatten in this group

41-75, 76-100, 100-150 and after that it's pretty flat out to the top 100 UDFAs (the ones that get significant bonuses to sign).

It does vary by position, but even that's misleading, pass rushing one gap DTs bifurcate, where run stopping DTs tend to go in the middle rounds.

So it helps a lot to pick high, not just the 1st rd pick but the first four (unfortunately only 3 this year) are in the top 100.

When you get past 100, it's less about finding starters than building solid depth, 3rd and 4th WRs, nickel CBs, pass down LBs, etc.

When you get past 150, you're primarily looking for ST guys with upside.

Well, in truth both are flat line models.  To build a predictive model, you would have to consider numerous variables in conjunction with each other to determine which ones are truly predictive while understanding that other variables can creep in an dismantle any one situation.

You know what is Fed up. All of that backlash happened when the Eagles didn't hire a black coach. Some supposedly prominent national media members even called into question Lurie's character in a way that shouldn't thrown around lightly. They have now hired FOUR black position coaches and I don't hear so much as a mouse fart out of any of these same people.

So whats left for coaches?

WRs

LBs

RB

Good draft if in need of OL help.

I like the IOL better than the Ts this year.  Great draft for slot WRs.  Decent top of the draft for CBs.  Good quality draft for Ss.  Interesting draft for DEs. No real top hitters but some interesting prospects.  All rather raw.  Value at DT isn’t really there.  Value at LB in mid rounds, possible but not a deep class.  Mediocre TE draft.  Draftniks like the QBs.  I don’t.   Going to be a tough draft.  Lots of the progress that would normally be seen with college players didn’t happen this year because of Covid training restrictions.  That may impact rookie development this year.  Given the patience shown in here, that may not bode well for the coming year.

I don’t disagree but if Howie is using analytics in his drafting, I am not convinced it is consistent or effective.

I think when we look back we will see what a strong OT draft it was.

Good WO draft

We were told they all look alike.

Are Colts RBs the bruisers type that just run straight or the ones that like to juke?

Nick Sirianni as a Child 😂😂😂

All of the above. They used a mix of different style RBs.

Earth, Wind and Fire as they use to say.

Do you remember, 21st night of September?

Pretty even-handed comments from Jenkins.

If for any reason Wentz doesn’t return next season I would MUCH rather be in the QB market at the draft than move forward with Jalen Hurts as the starting QB.  I foresee a few very lean years if the Eagles believe they can develop Hurts into a quality #1.

Relatively small 4-game sample, but the arm strength just isn’t there, his decision making was spotty, and the results got worse every game.

This draft is not good for the QB position. After Trevor there is no QB worth drafting unless ur looking for another backup.

Out of all the QBs avail via trade market, only Watson would interest me over Wentz. So in the end since Watson is supposedly not avail by the Texans FO comments and the cost would be too much anyways, Im keeping Wentz.

See what Wentz has under Nick's offense. If he still struggles, your going to have a top pick again next year, get your QB then.

I dont know about that, I think Zac Wilson will end up being best QB

I don't think he was that bad. He was basically being asked to pick a starting QB at his introductory press conference, which is dumb but that is how the Philly media works. No matter what he said they are going to run with it and take it to the extreme. But he was also asked some questions about his coaching staff and I thought he was much more confident and straightforward with those answers. You could tell he was much more comfortable talking about the coaches he already knows than the players that he doesn't.

He was obviously going to get asked about it once but the 3 to 4 follow up questions about Wentz were just stupid and wastes of questions. It would of been nice if they used those questions to ask him something useful like how much does he use analytics on game day, what’s his approach to being conservative vs aggressive, what went into putting his staff together etc.

He had 1, I'll repeat that, 1 good season in college. that one season was also a crazy season where half the teams and players did not play. Im not impressed. Im not putting all my chips in on a QB only playing one good season with a * next to it.

Unless Wentz forces a trade, which I doubt, I agree he will be the starting QB in Philly.  Trading for another QB makes no sense and is only brought up by fans who think it’s as simple as trading contract for contract — and don’t understand the dead money implications.

As far as the draft goes, I agree the QB class is underwhelming.  Compared to Hurts, however?  I’d rather have Lawrence, Fields, Lance, Wilson or even Mac Jones over Hurts — on Day 1.  I’d even be more comfortable with Kyle Trask.

If only...

The reporters were a little caught off guard by how short the press conference was, but let’s be honest, this offseason is all about Wentz and how he’s handled. And the casual fan cares far more about that than his use of analytics.

Bo Wulf was going to ask him about the youth of his staff but he wasn’t called on.

The Eagles having Lurie filibuster for 20 minutes and having Sirianni give a meandering monologue wasted a significant amount of time.

If you honestly think the QB class is underwhelming then this will be one of the worse drafts ever for you cause QB is probably the strength of the draft.

That said Lawrence should be a star, Fields and Trask has a chance to be stars as well IMO.
