Goff was easier to trade than Wentz will be, for the team trading Goff/Wentz. The Rams are only left with part of Goff's cap hit, while the Eagles would take on the entire thing no matter what. Not great when you're already ~$50M or so over the cap.

Not the same. The Eagles would be left with most of Wentz's cap hit in 2021. The team trading for Wentz isn't taking on an outrageous contract, though neither are the Lions really.

I'm not sure what you mean. Wentz's contract was less expensive and the league views Wentz as much better than Goff.

They won't, Wentz is valued very highly around the league unlike Goff. A lot of GMs think he can retain MVP form, so the Eagles should be able to get a good deal for him.

If anything, this illustrates the risk of the Eagles keeping Wentz next season. If he turns in 2 straight objectively bad seasons, then the salary "NBA salary dump" trade becomes more of a possibility.

The Rams were able to get cap relief by trading Goff. The Eagles will not by trading Wentz. (in 2021)

We do save cap space in 2021 by trading Wentz with no dead money in 2022.

The Rams won't have a first rounder for like 2 presidential terms and their success rate is still better than Howie's in the first round.

I don't think Wilson will make it and no way Fields. Hurts isn't the answer either though. If they could get an early 2nd for him I'd move him...I want him moved either way honesty because it's my hope they work with Wentz.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong stuff, but the only way we save money on the cap is with a post June 1 designation trade, which obviously carries a hit over to 2022.

The Rams are so top-heavy that a couple of injuries could easily make one of those 1sts a top 10 pick. Goff also doesn't force them to draft a QB, even though they should.

 

Brad Holmes, the Lions’ new GM who came from LA, was apparently one of the key guys pushing for the Rams’ trade up for Goff. He probably sees this as a buy low for a franchise QB. 

Campbell is on record as saying he wants QBs to manage the game and to not lose it. He’s a good fit for that kind of offense. 

That is way too much for Stafford IMO

Joe Banner vs Brandt, two former finance guys squaring off on if Wentz and others will get dealt. Banner says it's possible. Brandt says not happening.
