I love Chase. He's more of a physical route runner then Jefferson. I'm not trying to take anything away from JJ.

I like his route running and he plays "big" much bigger than his size would dictate....but the only thing that bothers me from the film I've seen is that the vast majority of his catches are underneath and then he manages to break some.  That's fine in college but it won't be as easy to break those underneath catches for bigger plays in the NFL.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I'm probably going to get some heat for this but I'm not 100% sold on Chase, yet.  Everyone assumes he will have the same success Jefferson has had in the NFL but I'm not convinced that it's a given.  I really want to see what he looks like at the combine, then go from there.

Keep in mind that his ridiculous production from last season was not from short screen passes that he took to the house.  He excels at everything - separation, hands, deception, 50/50 balls.  Oh.......and that was when he was 19 years old.  He's about as sure of a thing as you can get.  That is until we draft him, and he develops by watching Fulghum from the bench for 2 seasons.

Doubtful.  For starters, no one wants to see their starting QB benched.  That's 100% normal and a totally acceptable reaction.  If there are players on the team that want their starting QB benched, what does that say about your starter?

I think it's a good thing the team wanted Hurts to stay in.  The media is making a mountain out of a molehill with all of this....and the sad thing is that the Philly media is getting influenced by the NY media.  Sure Philly media, let's bow down to NY and their media.  Smh.

The starting QB was benched 4 weeks ago.

I'm not sold on chase either. Hes not overly big or overly fast, in college he doesn't create a lot of separation he wins by just out physicalling college dbs, doing that against pro DBs won't be as easy.

To me he doesn't really have any trait that makes him a mismatch or a guy that can continually win, he's not over quick either.

He has elite stats but elite stats aren't a trait.

I like Smith from Alabama more, he shoes on tape he is just quicker and faster then the guys covering him, if he weighed 20 more pounds he'd be the top WR as is at 175 teams are going to be scared off. Keep in mind marvin harrison weighed around 175 as does  desean.

I think 6 is too high for a WR like Chase who doesn't really have any elite traits, he reminds me a lot of ceedee lamb in that lamb won in college not with speed or size but by being more physical then crappy college dbs, sure lamb had an ok rookie season and he was also the 3rd receiver playing again st nickel corners.

Eagles drafting chase would be asking him to line up at X and beat teams number one dbs on a consistent basis a tall task for any rookie and even talker task for a rookie WR in Doug's system that has shown to have zero ideas in how to help a WR be successful.

Since Alshon is likely finally gone I think back trying to figure out what went wrong

There was an outpour of support after the Saints game. I remember hearing about the kids from a school writing letters to him of support saying it was ok and they still support him. Then when he actually went to the school I thought that was really cool. There was an outpour of support on social media telling him it was ok. We didn't expect a run so a lot of us were ok with the outcome.

What happened?

Turns out, he's a ****.

What I would like to happen:

  • Howie fired
  • Doug made into a HC in the mold of John Harbaugh except they use his scheme and hire an OC with play calling in the mold of a Frank Reich (great game planner, forms solid relationships) who believes in the scheme
  • Hire 4-3 DC
  • Wentz works with team over the break and does what he did in 17 offseason (QB guru, doesn't have pregnant wife/1st child birth to distract him and focuses on FB), Hurts goes to QB guru as well, there's a true QB competition next season and the loser is traded.
  • We somehow convince Kelce to come back for a final season.
  • Draft BPA non-QB (WR would be nice but I'd take defensive players or OL as well, Lane can't stay healthy and we don't know what we really have on the line the last couple years)
  • Alshon gone

Things that would make things ok but not make me the happiest:

  • Howie kept but a guy with more say or at least equal say in talent evaluation is brought in. Howie can't just throw out evaluations and draft whom he wants.
  • Doug fired
  • They make a QB decision in the offseason and trade someone away for decent return
  • Kelce retires

How often is a player looking for a new deal like this actually traded? I think whatever extension the Eagles had put on the table is likely off the table.  My guess is he will ask for his release and it will be granted.  There's no reason for the Eagles to try to negotiate some trade or for Ertz to agree to it absent some competition for his services.  The only exception to this would be if Ertz is fine being traded to a place without a deal in place.  I am not sure that any team is going to be interested in him.  The only team I could think of would be Indy.

When coming to the Eagles... all the freaking time... Howie the cap genius pays draft picks for guys, then restructures their contracts to give them MORE money.   Did it with Desean, did it with Slay.  Surprised he didn't do it with Avery.   Would have made about as much sense.

I think we should temper expectations of a trade back from #6. Look at the history of trades in the 1st round top 10 of the last few drafts.

2020: no trades.

2019: #10 moved back to #20

2018: #3 moved to #6. #7 moved to #12. #10 moved to #15.

2017: #2 moved to #3 (LOL). #10 moved to #27.

2016: #1 moved to #15. #2 moved to #8. #8 moved to #15. #9 moved to #11.

Add in the fact this is a strange year with COVID which could potentially make teams less likely to trade, and I think it might be easier said than done. #3 through #5 could be the sweet spot to trade back from if someone is trying to draft Sewell or Wilson. After the top 5, there might not someone willing to move up.

Just need 1 team to fall in love with a QB that's on the board... that's the magic formula.

So you get Pitts, a 2nd a 4 and a 4.

and you lose Ertz/Goedert.

No thanks. I like Pitts, not that high. and I dont think Doug knows how to handle a Tight End who wants to run down the seem

No, you trade back, pick up a 2nd.

You trade Goedert for a 2nd and a 4th.

You trade Ertz for a 4th.

Now you have 3 2nd round picks and 2 4ths.     You also save on having to extend Goedert for $60 million.

If you don't want Pitts in the 1st you can still make all 3 trades, maybe get PS2 in the first and then one of the B10 tight ends later in the draft.

Did Doug have his meeting yet?

I pretty much agree with you... but every moment that passes, I resign myself to the fact that they still think they are the same team/coaching staff/front office that won the Super Bowl.   They are not.

The worst outcome is keeping all of Howie/Doug/Wentz/Hurts...and that seems to be a possibility. *Sigh*

Pitts isn't a TE, he's just a really big slot receiver. Hes Jordan matthews with added 20 pounds.

Unless he can put on about 20 lbs he won't be able to hold up as a blocker, which if one passes 50 times a game isn't really a big deal, but if one would like to occasionally run the ball with ones TE on the field it helps if that TE can run block.

This was the same issue eagles had with Ertz especially when playing so much 12 personnel, Ertz can't run block, and he's light years ahead of where Pitts is a run blocker.

I'll pass on Pitts unless doug is planning on playing him at X receiver which would be a gross misuse if his skill set but hey, Doug☹️

We don't need Pitts, we have JJAW!  :flex:

They should be happy.  They are relevant again.  At least for this week.

Should also be happy the fact that they don’t get embarrassed by the bucs wild card weekend and get a better draft pick.

I think the misconception is that everyone sees the TE label.  Why can't he be a WR1?

Okay so I watched B.G.'s presser, seems he knew that Suds was going to play. Were the "enraged" players just stupid?
