Malcom Jenkins and his ego are a major issue.  I have been labeled as anti Wentz, but if Jenkins doesn’t like him, Wentz goes up a peg in my book.

Often wondered if Jenkins didnt support him bc he wasnt vocal in the SJW nonsense

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I'd rather have Watson than that package.

What physical limitations? If Wentz is a little slower, big deal, he's still able to elude pressure in the pocket, still has the same arm strength. He's not a running QB.

The problem is mechanics, coaching and the talent around him.

This past season there was pressure to elude and often but obviously he didn’t elude. Not sure if he lost that 6th sense he use to have or just didn’t have the quick get up and go to avoid

What? Wentz went out of his way to be very vocal in the SJW nonsense.  Another example of how weak Wentz is.

I bash the crap out of Howie, but I would like to take this opportunity to commend him for at least having the willpower not to extend Jenkins' contract.  He faced some external pressure to get that done.

Best decision Howie has made in 3 years.

IIRC, Wentz made a very politically correct and admirable social media post.  I'm sure his agent edited it, as is the case for most athletes.  But I recall it being very reasonable and non-offensive to everyone involved.

It’s not just Wentz’s mechanics and his surrounding environment. To pretend it’s that simple is being naive. He couldn’t hit his primary read despite being open on several occasions. He was a shell of himself. I keep thinking about that sack/fumble he took against Dallas. He rolled left when all his receivers were to the right. He stood there like a statue like he was waiting for something to develop. It was about the worst and dumbest sack you’ll ever see. Truly brain dead.

Wentz was shell shocked last season, there's no question about it, but a lot of that was coaching, when your OL is struggling, you pull back the reins, go to more quick hitting throws, run more, etc. You want to get your QB in a rhythm and tire out the defense and slow down the pass rush. Funny, end of 2019 with no WRs, that was the offense that got them into the playoffs and almost beat Seattle. But Pederson gets some fast WRs and decides he wants a big strike offense. And Wentz gets battered.

Arm strength is grossly overrated, it's good for a few plays a game and allows a flawed QB to see open receivers and hit them before the window closes.

Wentz was a true pocket QB, but his development flatlined after Reich left.

The one good thing is after this disaster of a season, Wentz should be far more amendable to hard coaching, he knows if he doesn't turn it around he may soon be a NFL "gypsy", struggling to win a starting job once the dead money is low enough to be cut and the new contract(s) have little guaranteed money. And he has far more QB friendly coaches who stress getting WRs open quickly so he won't have to take the kind of punishment he did last season.

I’m confused, Hurts sucks but is a threat to CW ???

Personally I hope Wentz isn’t the pu$$y that he is portrayed here as. Hurts, is fine as the back up better than Sudz. A 2nd is a little expensive but cheap as far as salary and then maybe he develops into something more, you trade or get comp picks for to recoup some of the draft capital that you invested in an insurance policy. In other words no QB controversy just business

What makes you think Hurts even wants to be a backup after starting the last couple of games?

Fact is there have been stories coming out on Wentz for 3 seasons now and Jenkins is someone putting their name on it.  There are obviously issues with Wentz in the locker room and after this season he is also one of the worst QBs in the league to go along with it.

I don’t think that’s going to happen for them but I also don’t think that’s a package that will scare off potential trade partners.  2 first round picks and 2 seconds isn’t that far from 2 firsts, a third and Goff.

Don’t forget losing Flip. Wentz might not have liked him, but he clearly helped him a lot.

I actually thought the sack fumble wasn’t as bad as the failed 4th down conversion where he failed to make the hot read throw to the receiver that was in the spot the blitzer vacated.

He doesnt have a choice in the matter. Hes under contract and has zero leverage.

Im one of the only ones who feels Id keep both. Decent backup QBs cost 5-12 mill a season. Hurts is costing us around 1.25. Id rather have a cheap decent backup on the roster then some crap QB costing us more.

Doesn't mean it wouldn't cause drama

There is ways to deal with drama that would hurt him more then staying with the program. I also don't see him doing that. Hes only going into his 2nd year, would be a different story if he was a vet.

Because he showed he's not a NFL starter right now. No sane HC could look at that film and start Hurts. And he knows if a DC takes away the run, he's toast.

He needs at least a year of hard coaching to learn how to read a NFL defense.

Pro bowl is today. It’s going to be the first time in my life I’m going to watch it start to finish.

If they kept Doug and traded Wentz, you'd have a post ready to go about how Wentz torpedo'd the offense and it was Doug who was stuck.

The 2021 Pro Bowl Game originally was scheduled to be played Jan. 31 in Las Vegas, but was canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.Dec 21, 2020

I guess you'll have to watch a replay of last year.

Hurts himself is NOT the issue.  He has shown in the past he’s a team guy, and if Sirianni told him he’s the backup and will hold a clipboard he will do that and not complain.  He just finished his rookie season.

The issue is there WILL be players in the locker room who believe Hurts should be the starter — and not through ability.  I believe Wentz knows this.
