He played with a bunch of former Pats in Detroit, so he probably has a good idea of how fun it is there...

I’m guessing it wasn’t exactly fun playing in Detroit either. So probably wanted somewhere like Rams, niners or colts.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Wondering about the Eagles' potential interest in Rashawn Slater. Seems like their kind of pick.

Goff's contract is worse than Wentz' for the acquiring team.

Goff
2021 - costs team acquiring him $27.5M = $25.0M guaranteed salary and $2.5M roster bonus, but $600k non-guaranteed salary.
2022 - $10.6M salary plus $15.5M roster bonus ... I don't know that they can get out of that.
2023 - free and clear if they choose

Wentz
2021 - $25.4M =  $15.4M guaranteed salary and $10M roster bonus
2022 - free and clear should they so choose

So, it really comes down to that 2022 salary/roster bonus for Goff if his contract is worse for the acquiring team.

This is incorrect.  Anyone acquiring Wentz is on the hook for 2021 AND 2022 for roughly $50M total.  Very similar to Goff.

Whats the deal with the phillies? I see they re-signed Realmuto and Didi so theyre retaining some good players. But are they going to be able to do anything to take a step forward this season?

If the bullpen is just a little better that would help

It does. As long as hes not off the board too early. Positional versatility. And TDN actually says the more inside he goes, the higher his ceiling. So you have him and Driscoll who can basically play anywhere you need them.

Would guess if Sewell is off the board and he is there that he’s likely the leader in the clubhouse

How many pitching arms have they acquired?

I dont know. thats what Im wondering. Ive just seen all this excitement about retaining players they had. I dont know if theyre actually doing anything to get better.

Probably no QB is a truck. If their OL sucks,  WRs suck, and the offense scheme sucks,  then they will suck.

Wentz is as close to a truck as a QB can get.  And he's not getting traded.

I can't believe how many pages of Wentz trade discussion just happened in here since last night.

Trading Wentz makes no sense.  Is he Pat Mahommes? No.  But he isn’t Mitch Tribursky.  The dead money hit is not money the Eagles have.  I believe he will fix a lot of his issues   I suspect he did rebel a bit against Pederson, the OC by committee and walked all over Press.   Probably needed to do that.

Yes. This is what I was talking about yesterday regarding Wentz's contract vs Goff's.

they just postponed my 2nd COVID shot that was supposed to be tomorrow morning. Sons of bishes.

This just means it's harder to trade from the Eagles' perspective, NOT the acquiring team's perspective.
So while Goff's contract had less dead money for the Rams, it was less appealing for other teams.

I am actually OK with Pitts under a few circumstances:

1.  Poopoo the 40 all you want.  At that point in the draft, I want to see him run 4.45 or better.

2.  Call him a TE, WR, H-back...I don't care what the label is.  He should have a hand in the dirt on fewer than 10% of the plays, maybe even less than 5%...only enough to occasionally confuse a defense into putting a LB on him.  He should get a respectable amount of reps lined up out wide, not just the slot like Ertz.

3. He needs to have the football IQ to be able to handle playing all over the field.  Like everyone says, he's not a TE.  He's not a WR.  To maximize his ability, he's going to have to learn routes from X, Z, slot, TE, etc.   If he can't handle that (look at how some talented players slow down and tread water learning one spot early in their career), then he's never going to become "more than a TE."

4.  No "power forward" WR's.  He's it.  The WRs with whom he shares the field need to be small and fast.  No JJAW, no Ward...Reagor/Hightower/Watkins are the only fits if you run a pseudo 12 personnel with Pitts and Goedert.

We also haven't had the best luck when it comes to developing WRs. I also haven't seen anything about them replacing Moorehead

If the lions did want Goff then it makes the rams look even worse for giving them those extra picks, I'm pretty sure someone posted a tweet earlier that those picks were to account for the contract. If the lions wanted him that badly why would they need to throw those picks in?

The more I think about it the more I think the most value is in developing our young WRs, trading Ertz, and drafting Pitts (2021 having 2 great TEs on rookie contracts, as well as almost all of our WRs)

Curious what we'd get for Ertz after that lackluster effort he gave us during a contract year. He also wants a mega deal

What happened HE?  Did they give a reason?

I think Ertz gets released. I don’t see a team wanting to trade for him given his last season.

Not saying yes or no, but if it’s at #6 there is value only if Pitts becomes a 80 catch and 1,200 yard target like Julio Jones, or even AJ Green was.  He would need to pretty much dominate in the offense.

I think other teams wait for Ertz to get released; that’s pretty much the M.O. around the league when they know a team has to shed salary.  I’ll stand up and applaud Howie if he gets any better than a 5th for him.

2 WR's and only 1 CB ? and a late CB at that.

Usually happens that way for us. Cory Summon and a few others happened that way.

The Lions intended to trade Stafford.  They listened to offers and this was the best one.  Goff had nothing to do with it.
