Point I'm trying to make is that fans should get used to the idea of trading away some of the older, high cost players if not this year then next.  BG, Lane, Ertz even Slay.

The reason I'm against taking a tackle in the top 10 this year is because they invested trading up in to the first for Dillard and 4 years developing Mailata.  I'm not a Dillard fan but I would much rather see if the guy has it or not.  If there's a chance Dillard and Mailata can be your bookends once Lane is gone then you put that faith in them and Stout.

Get a dynamic player or trade back to get more picks.

IMO CB is a bigger need then WR , i think the current WR's can be better with the new coaching staff's scheme to use them correctly. unless they get smith or chase

Howie has a bad rep, but can you imagine trading 4 1st round picks, plus many lower round picks, for Jared Goff as the number 1 pick in a draft, and getting a 33 year old Matt Stafford in return?  Oooof. No salary cap dump can hide from that horror.  It's a sackable offence.

Right now, the TDN mock game is like a WR cheat code having those guys available that late. Maybe not everyone is familiar with those WR names yet, but those are great picks there regardless of what is a bigger need.

CB is a bigger need, but I didnt take any WRs early instead. I took the WRs late.  I dont know any CBs that late, and there are none that are better than those WRs. 

I would have liked CB early but I figured the eagles would like Slater more than Surtain. And Farley was there, but I dont like his injury history for this team. So CB wasnt the way to go there.

Who’s mr checkdown? Stafford? I think you underrate Stafford. The Rams clearly are trying to make a run to a Super Bowl before the window closes. They also clearly don’t regard draft picks that highly. But Stafford is far better than Goff

The timeline makes it a phenomenal trade for the Lions. They are entering a full rebuild, added three good picks and a QB that you might be able to win with. If not, you’re bottoming out anyway and can draft a QB anyway. 

I’d be beyond thrilled if I were a Lions fan.

understatement.  GREAT trade for the Lions.  Stafford has been in Detroit what 11 years?  He's had some great WR, questionable coaching but it hasn't been an all out train wreck and he's never really taken the team to the next level like an elite QB should.  Detroit knew exactly what they were going to have if they had Stafford again in 2021.  

Goff is still young at 26, and like Carson has shown close to elite skills.  Yes, his contract is killer.  But to get 2 1sts and a 3rd plus a starting quarterback with his potential for a soon to be 33 year old never getting their team over the top quarterback is an absolute steal.
