He's a TE.  Assuming he can transition to WR based on his size and ability is not worth being drafted in the 1st much less #6 overall.

He's an H-back, not a TE. Though in hindsight, I'd take Witten or Gronk at #6, they've had better careers than many HOF WRs.

But a H-back is a receiver, the mutant child of a big possession WR and a TE.

Is Fitzgerald worthy of #6? Then Pitts could conceivably.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I don't disagree with you, but if he turns in a 4.35 on his pro day, I'll be intrigued.  If he runs a 4.52, then he's just another great TE/H-back prospect.

Don’t talk about a topic, state your case, and then leave because you can’t handle any discourse. 🤷‍♂️

The cap has gone up every year, even when the kneeling was a hot button issue. You can choose if you want to accept that fact or not.

I missed it did someone say the cap went down because of s.j.?

Can you imagine the reaction if Howie said that?

I think he’s likely 11-12. But i wouldn’t take Big Ben or brees today over Stafford. Both of them imo are done. Cousins i wouldn’t take either. The vikings the year before cousins got there won 12 games with Keenan and then have seen a drop with cousins 2 out of 3 years. And he’s had weapons and solid oline. i don’t like mayfield either. Based off age you could make the case for home however if i put Stafford on the browns and mayfield on the lions I’m guessing Stafford is able to win the way mayfield was. I think hunt and chubb are what stirs that drink. The rest I agree on. Those 4 I’d actually take Stafford over at their stages of their career or just overall.

Fair enough.  The only difference between those 4 and Stafford are that they have proven they can win a big game in a tough environment.  I suppose Stafford will get that opportunity this season again.

I think I just can't stand Baker the person.  He proved he is at least serviceable with a beast of a run game as you've pointed out and with a good coach (and no Odell).  It's just that every time I see his face I really wanna punch it!

I could name QBs, RBs, WRs, H-backs, TEs, LT's, RT's, IOL, OC, S, CB, 4-3 LB, DT, and DE's that are worth #6 overall in hindsight too.  That doesn't mean that all of those positions have good value as top 10 picks.

More competition for viewership coupled with social distancing and work from home are affecting ratings, I suspect.  No water cooler discussing of last night’s game   Bellwether fans aren’t gearing up at work because their work contact is zoom calls. Strong competition for viewers from the likes of the British Baking Championship.   Just look at the names sitting out Super Bowl advertising this year.

and, there's just a change in how people view sports that's been happening for a while now.  Fewer kids playing, to the point where we are now considering e-gaming "sports."

sports simply isn't as big a central theme for many as it was in the past.

I guess the moral is, that Lowie will draft Pitts.  Because.....Lowie.

This is probably true

Yeah but is he in the philly airport?

I don't know where this is coming from.  I read a projected 40 of 4.6.

I have no idea what he's going to run.  I'm intrigued by his tape.  The 40...some can dismiss it all they want...the 40 will go a long way in shedding light on what kind of weapon he can be.

Consistently winning matchups is the key to reliably winning games.  The elite WRs do that by consistently separating from DBs.  Gronk/Kelce were elite because they consistently separated from LBs and consistently tossed around DBs (they can't consistently run away from them).

Pitts isn't at that level of strength and physicality, so he's not going to consistently physically dominate CBs like that (Ertz is a better comparison).  The question is if he's so fast that he can still separate against them.  If not, I don't think he's going to be more than a faster version of Ertz...still damn good, but not quite what we are looking for.

Not true. Howie was golfing with Andre Johnson that one time because he was with a black dude and we saw the back of his head.

While the Eagles were as ravaged by injuries as ever in 2020, the rest of the NFL caught up to us.  Most teams in the NFL got crushed my injuries.

There could be a learning point there.  Doug has been notoriously soft in camp and practices.  That's a rude stressor on the body to go from shrink wrap to 60 minutes of full contact football.  In 2020, every team was forced into that same cycle...and nearly every team has more injury problems than usual.

A more gradual escalation into contact versus flipping the switch might reduce injuries.

Agreed.

Surely folks have to admit that the injury devastation goes hand in hand with the lack of encouraging young players.

Andre Dillard was hurt. Derek Barnett and Dallas Goedert are constantly battling injuries. Miles Sanders wasn't consistently "right" all year. Jalen Reagor had 2 injuries that set back his development. Even Jack Driscoll went down for the year. How many of these guys were injury prone coming into the league?

Not saying those guys are stars or that the Eagles made the right picks there. But the constant injuries to young players are a sign something else is going wrong here. I put a lot of that on Doug.

Honestly, in Football I haven't really noticed much social justice stuff. (They don't show the National Anthem anymore) I just don't have the passion to watch much outside of the Eagles and I'm just tired of Tom Brady.

The best investment I have made was the NFL Game Pass.  It allow you to watch the condensed version of games.  My biggest problem with the games is there  are so many commercial breaks.  It's telling that the condensed version of games rarely lasts more than about 50 minutes and broadcasts take 3 hours.  They need to shorten commercial breaks.  I mean European Football has no commercial breaks and is unquestionably the most popular professional sport in the world.  I think most of the loss of viewership relates to the seemingly increased amount of commercial breaks.  I mean it's not unusual for their to be only one play in between 10 minutes of commercials.

I have to say, after watching a bit on this year's draft class, I really like Tonney.

He's not the mold of WR I usually lust after, but I think he has so much potential.  His 10 yard quickness is as good as any player I've ever seen.  And while vertical routes are so critical to success in this NFL, the fact remains that 95% of the game is played within a 10 yard radius.  With his footwork and the right coaching, he's still going to be a reliable and relentless deep separator too.

The slot is his logical early home, and that's just fine.  As he settles in, he's someone who could probably play all 3 spots.  The right coach just needs to harness his agility into his routes.

He just strikes me as a high floor high ceiling player.  No player with that movement ability is going to bust in the NFL.  I always said Reggie Bush would have had better, more enduring NFL success as a WR.  This kid is basically Reggie Bush playing WR.

It would take some maneuvering for this to make sense...he doesn't belong in the discussion at 6 and he's going to be gone by our 2nd.  In the unlikely event that he's on the board, they need to run to the podium for him in round 2.

Definitely too many commercials. But I also think team loyalty is dying as well. My daughter and youngest son are all Eagles fans. But if the eagles suck they see no need to watch them. I'm turning the game on or listening to it (if it isn't on T.V. here) every week no matter how bad they suck.

Yep.  Also development or lack there of.  Listen, it is a hobby of mine to dump on Howie.  But do we seriously think some of the young guys we missed on in the draft would have come here and produced like they had elsewhere?

Yep.  We all tend to take sides when things get bad.  But the reality is that you don't have a 4 win season without bad talent AND bad coaching.

Doug wouldn't have looked quite as bad with a better GM making the picks.  And those better picks we could have made would not have looked as good here in Doug's offense.

I also wonder what the offense would've looked like if Reid ended up with Wilson instead of Foles like he had wanted.

Wilson would have an Oline for his career so he'd probably be really good to great

1st time in my remembered life I won't be watching the Super Bowl. Just no desire to see Brady play in another one or Andy win another one.

I'm annoyed about the weapons that Chiefs have so I've been rooting for them to lose. I don't care about the SB. The networks are really pissing me off over the years. There's way too many commercials now

Mosher said on his pod that as of Sunday night Moorehead still doesn't know if he's being retained to coach WR's. No one's really sure why this is dragging out so much.

Eagles don't know what to do about WR

Not surprised

Yeah I list stafford as a second tier QB. He is good enough to win you games, I would say he is slightly better than Nick Foles, because he is fairly consistent. He may not have Foles' highs, but he also doesnt have his lows.

Way more talented than Foles. Love Nick but that’s not really close. But, he does or should get criticism for not winning regardless. Just the nature of the position.

Has to win big now or he’ll end up in the overrated category IMO.

I think at least 1 of Pitts, Trask or Toney will be an Eagle.

I'm really happy we have their OC.

Heck, I wish Johnson was our GM.  That 52-46 FL/AL game basically featured almost all of the first round offensive talent that will be in play for us in the draft.

I'd think his perspective on Smith/Waddle/Pitts/Toney/Trask should be immensely helpful in the draft.

I have a lot of problems with the way the Eagles do things, but a marathon interview isn't one of them.  They aren't just locked up with Lurie in a room for 8 hours.  I've been on interviews that have lasted 3 days before.

Don’t forget dez running onto the field like a moron and not getting called for a flag after doing so and berating an official

I know there are people who believe the NFL is rigged. I don't believe it myself but I do think there were some officials who were in the tank for Dallas. I can't prove it of course but it sure seemed that way. It doesn't seem to happen as much anymore (excluding the "no clear recovery" BS) so they might have been let go or retired.
