If we're going to go the young coach route, it has to be a full rebuild. Right?

You’d assume. However howie said they were going to start rebuild last offseason then the pandemic hit and they did a 180 so they might think the end of the world is coming and reverse course

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Because 28 isn't old for a QB. His arm is fine, that's the key for a pocket QB.

And you're alternative? Draft a QB (just as risky, most top 10 QBs flop), or go with Hurts.

You can't stay away from premium QB's just because "most top 10 QBs flop."  Most teams don't compete for a SB either, but that's not an excuse to cancel training camp and not show up for the games.  You've told us that WRs don't do well from round 1, most top 10 QB's flop...but you want to draft an H-back top 10?  Of course the hit rates for positions like OL and TE are higher top 10...the denominator is smaller.  Only rarer, more perfect prospects at those positions go in that range.

My alternative?  I don't think the Eagles will be in a position to draft a QB top 10 this year anyway.  I'd proceed with the Wentz reclamation project in an effort to Stafford him in 1-2 years if he proves he can turn it around.  I'd trade Hurts now for whatever we can get.  Draft someone with a decent head for the game and a live arm in the 3rd-4th round each year until either one of them hits or you find the right all-in prospect in round 1.

So just a RB coach to go if Roob is right that Moorehead was retained.  Hired our S coach away from UH today too.

It couldn't possibly be that these guys just want a break and don't check/post something on social media every minute.  I'd be more worried of players that are constantly posting crap.

Fulgham posted about Dogecoin getting to $1, that made me sour on him

He did not say the Eagles won’t compete.  Again, find me an Eagles won’t compete quote.  You can’t because that isn’t their position.  Difficult to compete as younger players get up to speed is not the same as won’t.

Need to focus on what will "work in the long run with a focus on the mid-term and the long term and not on how to maximize 2021"

Do you want him to spell it out for you?

Booting Doug after a pandemic season was cold.

Every other coach in the NFL was dealing with the same thing.

So No

Was pretty dumb to go into a meeting suggesting Cory undlin as DC when he wasn’t good here as a secondary coach and with the lions head the 32nd pass defense. Then the kicker of promoting press Taylor to OC after the offense was pathetic all season particularly the passing game as he was the passing game coordinator

Not a full rebuild because Howie is still here IMO

One side-benefit of Howie's lifetime job security is that he's not going to be making short-term job--preserving decisions.  He'll rebuild with the same long-view of a brand new GM, just with worse draft picks.

maybe wentz forgot his password to Twitter and it locked his account. Does that get filed under the wentz haters wentz excuses?

I think it gets filed under "I'll act like the team leader again when they tell me I'm the team leader" which, even if his agent is advising him to do this, is an F in the role in which he currently is paid to occupy. It appears that he did not learn a lot from Nick Foles. Very disappointing and you know who notices this? The soldiers who go on to the field and fight for the team, the default leader of which is the QB, the field general. If Wentz wants to be the Eagles franchise QB, it is puzzling why he won't publicly support new people joining the organization. And for those who knee jerk the Wentz hater response to this post, don't bother. This is an easy observation for anyone who has held a leadership position or studied those who have done it well.

unless we clear up cap space, yes it's full rebuild and i think they know that.

So what’s the reason when most of the players didn’t and ones you consider also team leaders or does this standard only apply to wentz the team leader? I’m a little confused as to why fletcher cox or Brandon Graham who are team leaders say nothing and no one bats an eye

Spare me the "soldiers going to battle” line.  They are all paid handsomely to do their F-ing jobs.  Not to gossip or air dirty laundry out on social media.  And they are not Soldiers!!!!

Kellen Winslow jr disagrees lol

He might have an epiphany again where he thinks they can win midway through the offseason and decides against it like he did in 2020 offseason with the pandemic changing his course.

Telling him to eat $59M in dead money so he could roll with Hurts was a career limiting move as well.

So basically, your interpretation is that the Eagles won’t compete is what he meant.  This sounds like building the team for the long run, including going after younger players rather that retaining some of the older players like Jeffery, DJax or M.Jackson to me.  Think Carson puts himself with younger rather than older group.  Sounds more like breaking up the 2017 band and stepping back to their old approach that not competing in 2021.   I have every belief that Lurie expects them to compete in 2021 but the focus is returning to building with young players.  So we won’t see any Slay like moves and certainty learned our lesson with DJax.  I expect third contracts to become a rarity too.

Basically the plan for the 59 million in dead money

And he was the 6th overall pick in the draft therefore Kyle Pitts = a guy who will spank it on team flights and end up going to jail

the thought that players must speak to the media or social media to let fans know where their head is at, is some of the most cringy self entitled pathetic bullsheet.

the only thing that matters is what is being said between the player and the team.

We as fans may be curious, but we are not owed anything. Sorry.

I have stated in here so often its becoming my mantra: actions mean everything, and words mean all most nothing. Just wait for the actions, we will know soon enough.

oh wait, some of you have the patience of a 6 month old theybe!
