The lack of discipline clearly shows up on the field. Dumb penalties, drops, etc are a result of poor discipline and results in things like poor starting field position, turnovers, and lousy 3rd down conversion rates; all which impact results of games. A well coached team seems to have more luck, tough passes are caught, more turnovers. The Eagles have had a ton of injuries, but they lost close games because of poor coaching and lack of discipline.

The difficult catch seems to be the norm on Saturdays and Sundays now when you watch ANY other football game college or pro.  Guys make ridiculous catches all over the place and they make it look easy.  The Eagles WR make catching easy passes look difficult.  It's frustrating as anything watching a college game and saying out loud, we'd never see an Eagle make that catch.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

How come every female assassin movie stars a woman that anyone can easily snap in half like a pencil?  I have one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen on in the background right now, and the woman assassin is probably 17-18 years old in real life.  She has chubby, flab arms either from baby fat or from never working out a day in her life, and I'm supposed to believe she is going to take on a group of male high school seniors in the woods without a gun, most of whom look like D1 athletes.  Cast better Hollywood.  We're all too smart for this.

When I saw Casualties Of War I only got about 10 minutes into the film before I decided the film should be called Friendly Fire, because as soon as they gave me a weapon I would have gladly shot Michael J Fox to the ground.

I think that's probably the worst movie about Vietnam I have seen.

If you take what Adam caplan said at face value yesterday on their podcast that doug and the coaching staff had a problem holding players in general accountable and they rarely benched or punished anyone. I don’t know how true or false it is but if he’s right then it was a team wide thing which again falls on the coaching staff for allowing it.

This is typical of "players coaches" and Pederson seemed to be the prototype.

They do best with veteran teams chafing from a martinet and able to police themselves.

Over time, especially hard times, discipline gradually breaks down.

And he didn't seem to hire assistants who could play bad cop for him, Stoutland being the obvious exception (but he was inherited).

It's called willing suspension of disbelief.

Top 5 Vietnam War Movies:

1) Full Metal Jacket

2) Apocalypse Now

3) Platoon

4) Deer Hunter

5) We Were Soldiers (Book is better and a little too gung ho heroic at the end)

With Doug, I think it goes beyond just being a players' coach.  I think he believed he found a winning formula in 2017. He then did not want to alter that formula in terms of staff and the way he treated players.  I think that led him to want the team to hold onto players like Alshon and to not hold players accountable in any meaningful manner.

It'll be interesting to see the dynamics with Siri, he's got a staff of "teachers" who seem to be focused on technique and fundamentals.

Some veterans may chafe at being "schooled", especially those at the end of their careers who don't want to address bad habits.

So cap issues will push out some veterans, resistance to a new coaching staff may push out others.

And this will give young players an additional edge in camp, because they'll be more amenable to the cultural shift.

It was infuriating.  Every Eagle fan on the planet this year could easily identify that Gerry was awful, and Singleton was a clear upgrade.  Peters was not an upgrade over Mailata and should have never been put back into the lineup. And inserting Alshon into the lineup and decreasing Fulgham's snaps did absolutely nothing but deter his development.  These 3 personnel decisions alone were so egregious I don't even know what to think.

Maybe you should Shutup then

The veterans that are key are at 0line and dline.  Stout is at oline so that's not going to change.  I didn't realize it but they hired Tracy Rocker as the dline coach.  In addition to having played in the League, he's coached before with the Titans.  Arguably the other position where there are some key veterans is at DB.  They hired Wilson who coached under Todd Bowles and I think under Wade Phillips with the Rams.  So I think they will be OK in terms of having veteran staff that knows how to deal with NFL veterans.  I think the bigger question is what kind of respect Sirianni commands.

It’s Alshon’s catch in the SB, to Jalen Reagor dropping balls at his chest, and the same with Agholor.   The Eagles draft guys who can’t catch in college, when they’re typically wide open, to the NFL and they’re covered. It’s no coincidence in 2017 when Agholor dropped less passes than in 2016, his stats improved and so did the team.

What our GM fails to understand is whether a WR runs a 4.2 40, or a 4.5 40,  if neither can catch the ball, both guys are useless.

When's Devonta Smith going to get measured for his skinny jeans?

They also showed support for doug time and time again who wasn’t wentz’s favorite person according to "sources” and reports. And some didn’t say anything and some did when he was let go on Twitter.   If you think they care enough to not saying anything cause of wentz when the eagles sign their paychecks then ok.

I don’t think Carson wentz’s feelings/making him look bad dictates what they do with their social media. It sounds made up concoction by fans to justify their view on the situation. I don’t think most of the team saying nothing is cause of not wanting to make wentz look bad. I’m sure jalen hurts on Twitter not saying anything is not due to Carson. I don’t think Dallas goedert on Twitter saying nothing is cause of wentz. Mcleod and slay said nothing. Or reagor saying nothing is because of Carson. Or sanders on Twitter hasn’t said anything is due to Carson. All must not want to make wentz look bad or maybe that’s not the case. Meanwhile lane Johnson stuck up for wentz had something to say on Twitter about it. So that theory doesn’t apply with lane even though he backed wentz?

Ok, I retract my speculation. By all accounts Carson Wentz is doing exactly what you would want in a team leader and professional dedicated to perfecting his abilities.

Or it could be that yeah! Either way I don't think at this point we should ignore the now regular reports that we keep hearing around Wentz.

I think the Jets make a huge jump this year and probably be legit contenders with the Bills for years to come.

Joe Douglas probably got the best grade last year and ho hum, he has like 11 picks this year, #1 overall and 80 million in cap space.

They have the #2 pick, and only 9 picks.
